View 14 RepliesI have never had a problem installing updates to Win 8.1 and all important updates are fully installed. Every time I try to update to Win10 it says "downloading Windows 10 - checking requirements" and then I get the above error message.
View 9 RepliesI received notification that my Windows 10 reservation is now ready. After downloading and preparing to install through Windows Update, I receive a failure notice with error code 80070005.
I am currently on Windows 8.1 Pro x64. I have administrative privileges.
For several months, I've had an ongoing issue when I run 'sfc /scannow', corrupt files are found, some of which it cannot be repaired. From the CBS.log file, I found these related to "utc.app.json". I was assured that when Microsoft sent out update for DiagTracking (KB3022345), it causes a false positive for file corruption.
Also worth noting is that I currently have my boot SSD partitioned and configured to dual boot Windows 8.1 Pro and Linux. This all works fine, and I've been told this shouldn't be a problem for upgrading to Windows 10.
I would like to do an in-place upgrade to Windows 10, not a clean install, so that I keep all of my software and settings as they are.
How to correct the error message: The configuration registry database is corrupt, Error code 0x800703F1.
I get the message when I try to install dotnetfx35setup which is supposed to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
I've recently upgraded from Windows XP to 10 (64-bit), and the .reg files I've crafted for adding custom file associations don't work anymore. What's changed? How do I make them work again? Sample:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClasses.pdf]@="user.sumatra.pdf"[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesuser.sumatra.pdf]@="PDF Document"[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesuser.sumatra.pdfDefaultIcon]@="F:BINSumatraPDFSumatraPDF.exe,1"[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesuser.sumatra.pdfshell][HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesuser.sumatra.pdfshellopen][HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesuser.sumatra.pdfshellopencommand]@=""F:BINSumatraPDFSumatraPDF.exe" "%1""
Just found myself diggin' more and more in bugs and troubles in Windows 10. Now, when I'm looking for updates with Windows Update it shows me that the Updates cannot install and to check it out later, and then gives me an error code: 0x800705b4.
I don't know how to fix this, I have been looking for this error code in the gigant sea of the Internet but nothing. I'm growing tired of Windows 10 Mountains of Bugs. I know it's still not finish and it's never ever gonna be finish, but this is just too much, adding that I'm with the people who cannot download/update apps from the Store and cannot open the Mail/Calendar/OneNote apps.
For some reason Windows 10 keeps failing to install updates every time, worse yet it won't give an error code .
View 1 RepliesI bought new parts on 14th of Jan (i5 6600k, Asus Maximus VIII Gene, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4gb 3600 mHz). Swapped them with my old i5 760, Gigabyte motherboard and 8gb RAM.
The day after I installed my new components, Windows prompted me to activate Windows (apparently a new motherboard counts as a new computer thus a new license required). I ignored it, installed all the new drivers for my motherboard and CPU (Realtek worked fine BTW). 2 days later I couldn't stand the "Activate Windows" thingy at the bottom of my screen, so I decided so sacrifice my money to Microsoft to buy another license of Windows 8.1 Pro.
Installed Windows 8.1 Pro via USB (erased all data on SSD first) and upgraded to Win 10 from there.
So there I was on a clean Win 10. Used Ninite to install most common Apps, and went over to my motherboard's driver page over on ASUS's website. Downloaded the Realtek Audio Driver from there ((4.35) 6.0.1.7629), and tried to install it.
While I find the Realtek installer really outdated and janky, it normally works. The installer showed up and began extracting all sorts of files (mostly .dll files), the big blue window in the back popped up and after a while the message "InstallShield Wizard is installing..." popped up. It was then when I received the message: "Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !! [Error Code : 0xE0000234".
So it's listed between Programs and Features, and I can also find it in the Device Manager, Under "Other Devices" as "Unknown Device". When I double click that the status reports:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
Driver is not intended for this platform.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clicked "update driver", manually searched for the drivers in the extracted setup folder, didn't work.
I worked with my friend install windows 10 on his desktop pc. but after installation, it wont boot, rather showing bsod error 0xc000021a, we have tried reinstalling for a couple of times, but the error persisted. BTW, the previous os was windows 7. We deleted the previous OS's partition and installed it there, but it seems like nothing happened.

I tried cleaning Windows Update files and running troubleshooter but it doesn't work.

View 1 RepliesI did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64 using the method that everyone knows about by now that was written up on various sites today i.e.:
Ran the Media Creation Tool and upgraded my copy of Window 8.1 Professional with Windows 10 Professional. Looked in Control Panel --> System and it said my copy of Windows was activated. Then I ran the Media Creation Tool again and downloaded the ISO. Burned ISO to DVD. Restarted computer, booted into Windows installer on DVD, customized the install by formatting drive, did a fresh install of Windows 10.
Now when I go into Control Panel --> System it says "Windows not activated". When I click on the Activate Windows icon and click the error details link I get the error code: 0xC004C003.
I should note that the Windows 8 OS came pre-installed on my laptop which I bought brand new. I don't think that matters?
I have an acer aspire v5 573g. I wanted to clean install Windows 10 on it. And every time I tried it gave me an error code : 0x800701E3. I thought it might be due corrupt instalation file or something. I tried other copies but it gives same error. I don't know what it means. I tried searching on the net, but I didn't find anything. I will also attach a photo which I took.

View 9 RepliesI ran into this problem while on Win7 & found a fix (YouTube - Apple Keyboard Hack - Fully-powered USB ports on a PC!) . Unfortunately, the YouTube video has been removed. I use an Apple keyboard that has 2-USB ports, one on each side of the keyboard. The power limits for these USBs was 100mA on Win7 so using a mouse is OK. But, if I plug in a USB drive or better yet my Wacom Tablet I get an error stating the power is too low to support. I believe the ports need to be 500mA.
I don't recall exactly how the YouTube author changed the registry key value but he did & I used these 2 USBs without problems for 4 years. I'm having trouble finding the USB location using run / regedit. Below are two screen grabs I used in my post 4 years ago. Windows 10 looks a lot different. Anyway, the USB I need is port 3 hub 7. How to navigate the registry key to that location & edit from 100mA to 500mA.
My pc keeps on shutting down when I'm not using the mouse or keyboard for 5 - 10 minutes. This all started with the shortcut "shutdown.exe" thing. I've been using this shortcut with a code of (*time* -s -t) from windows 7, 8, 8.1 to shutdown my pc at a specific time. And when I used it on Windows 10, it started doing the registry error shutdowns (Light blue screen with SAD face).
View 1 RepliesThis is the event error after attempting to do a regular 'FIND' within the Registry. Before the Fall upgrade installed via .iso on 11/20/2015 this Find worked.
The Nirsoft Registry Scan will scan and find. I did not attempt to link to the registry from that Nirsoft tool
The last software installed was a Nirsoft My Event Viewer as a portable app 11/21/15.It had errors via ntoskrnl.exe when executed. Microsoft apps were updated automatically 11/21/15(Photos, Messaging)
These are the only changes since the fall upgrade Win10-1511
Would this be corrected by a sfc /scannow?

Started having BSOD/reboot problem yesterday. It seems to happen when the computer is idle and getting ready to turn off peripherals to enter sleep mode.
I uploaded the error log...
Not sure what happened. Bad Windows update perhaps?
I ran sfc /scannow and it didn't find any issues. I also ran the power troubleshooter and it didn't find anything.
The computer seems very stable right up until I let it go idle. After 4 minutes I get the REGISTRY_ERROR bsod. The system is not over clocked. CPU temps are low. Memtest86(+) runs fine for 8 passes with 0 errors. Disabling the two .NET tasks that start on idle in Task Scheduler made no difference (as per the post with a similar issue). CHKDSK /R requires a reboot and no messages are present on the screen while running but there is no log file generated in Event Viewer / logfiles / application. I ran sfc /scannow and got errors. A reboot and retry did not correct the error. I ran Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and it successfully repaired the system. Subsequent scans with SCF indicate no issues or problems. Not sure if it is relevant but the system has a Samsung 950 SSD as the C drive.
View 9 RepliesToday I randomly received two BSODs, one with a System Service Exception error and the second with a Registry Error. The only thing I recently changed was installing a new game (Blade and Soul). Within that process I also updated DirectX.
View 1 RepliesSo far, things have been ok with my Windows 10 update. Today I tried to look for updates, as I think this is the regular Patch Tuesday. However, it takes a long time, then gives me the error in the title. Using the update fixer doesn't work, I just get the "Service Registry is Missing or Corrupt". What would be causing that?
I'm also getting a problem with task host not wanting to allow shutdown, what's the deal there?
