View 1 RepliesI am trying upgrade to Windows 10 from my Windows 7 Ultimate. I downloaded and tried to install Windows 10 and it failed I got the error message 8007002c-4000d and when I tried to install it again Windows is saying - Windows isn't activated on this pc. use a product key to activate it before upgrading to windows 10. I don't know what my product key is but it shouldn't ask me what it is...
View 1 RepliesI'm having the "Failed to connect to a Windows service. Windows couldn't connect to the Group Policy Client service. This problem prevents standard users from signing in" message in my laptop. It was updated from Windows 8 to 10 when we purchased it. At the beginning the laptop works well but now i'm having this message. I saw the a video and the GPC status is not running and in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CURRENT CONTROL/SERVICES/GPSVC in the Image Path is netsvcs instead gpsvdGroup.
The problem is that when i went to SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS NT/CURRENT VERSION/SVCHOST And then to the netsvcs I did'n t have to add it because it is already there, it was not missing. I verified Dword values and all of them have the same values as recommended in the video.
I downloaded the update and got lots of errors trying to install it. I converted the esd file to an ISO and tried to run it from a DVD but get a "Can't Continue" message
View 3 RepliesI am running Windows 7 64 Ultimate and I am trying to run the MediaCreationTool64 from Microsoft. When I run it, I get message shown below.
At least it's nice to see Windows 10 is carrying on the long-standing Windows tradition of supplying useful and actionable information in their error messages.
I can't upgrade to windows 10 and it displays the message as in the attached image.
I have Windows 8.1
I have been trying to install the Windows 10 upgrade to no avail .
I am running windows 7 home premium x-64 on a Gateway NV78 laptop.
Things I have already tried range from deleting programs and device drivers to reinstalling the updater. Have run a clean boot and ran from the updater, the build. a startup disk, and from a usb flash drive. I have deleted my printer drivers, virus software, and cleaners.
Just installed Win10 on a Win7 machine. Started it up and walked away.
Came back 3hrs later and all that was on the screen was this message:
Cannot Display this Video Mode. Optimum Resolution 1280 x 1024 60Hz
I can restart the machine and the normal Dell start up stuff happens. The Win10 logo comes up and then the screen goes black with the above message. No cursor. No nothing.
I cant even get the monitor settings to function once the black screen appears.
I can get into the monitor settings during boot up but cant make any changes before the black screen comes up.
When I try to upgrade my Dell XPS 15 running Win 8.1 to Win 10 I get a message "we couldn't update the system reserved partition", I only have an EFI system partition, not the 100MB DATA partition I've read about.
I've attached my disk management layout.
When I attempt to create a recovery drive, I get this message.
Recovery Drive
We can't create recovery drive
A problem occurred while creating a recovery drive.
What is the answer, as I have tried this several times.
I convinced my friend to upgrade to windows 10 on his laptop and it failed leaving it screwed.
The laptop is based on a Clevo W350ET chassis.
When you turn it on it goes to a screen saying 'Recovery Your PC/Device needs to be repaired, A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed, Error code 0xc000000f'.
Any options like revert to a previous built, system restore or whatever do not work.
Any chance of saving the current install or will I have to reinstall everything? My friend has old programs he is concerned he cannot get anymore.
My win-10 computed downloaded the update files yesterday. But the installation has failed.
View 2 RepliesJust upgraded a Samsung Notebook from Windows 7 to Windows 10, keep getting "This application does not support this version of Windows" message regarding Fast Booting, tried compatibility fixes and turning the application off but the messgae still keeps popping up?
View 3 RepliesRecently, I decided to do a factory reset, to cleanly wipe my drive, with the exception of Windows. When the reset was about 30% through, the reset failed. Now, when I try and use my laptop, it only gets to the ASUS logo, then goes to a black screen with a flashing underscore symbol on the top left corner. I've tried doing F9, SHIFT+F9, and everything else in between. My laptop is an ASUS G74SX, and I don't have a recovery partition for the laptop. I also cannot get any external programs for the laptop, such as ISOs, etc.
View 1 RepliesMy father hit yes to upgrad his HP Probook 6407b from Windows 7 to Win 10. He did not realize what he was saying yes to.He brought it to me before it finsihed. I got into win 10, but then had issues with HP security software at boot. It would hang at boot, say something about a finger print reader, and then allow me to log in. So I decided to revert back to win 7. that failed. Goes to try a startup repair and it does not work. It looks like win 7 trying to do it and not 10.
Is there any way to recover either win 7 or 10?I tried a win 10 usb drive, but it says the upgrade was previously started in windows, turn off machine and restart, but that fails.
So my computer has been kinda laggy and running slowly so I figured I would do a clean reset of Windows 10. It noted that it would take hours, which was fine. However about an hour into it, it said there was an error resetting. It then restarted the computer however I can't get passed the "ASUS" start up logo. It goes black and then loops. I hit F9 but none of the options work for me - automatic repair won't work because it says my computer doesn't have an administrator and when I try to reset again from there, it tells me that "a required drive partition is missing." I don't have the greatest knowledge on computers, so I really don't even know what that means.
I've read that I might have to reboot from a USB - how would I go upon doing that? Is there something I can download on the Microsoft website? I don't have a key because the computer came pre-loaded with Windows 8 and I upgraded to Windows 10 for free last year. Will I still be able to boot from a USB?
I got the little 'Get Windows 10' icon and reserved my copy, all fine. But it still doesn't actually say it can install, not sure why. But my laptop has now tried to install W10 5 times, without telling me it was going to or asking my permission. And all five times it has failed with error code 80240020. This is not my area of expertise and I don't know why it keeps doing this. I'm not even sure I want to install it; I only reserved it to see what everyone else thought and I figured I'd have some kind of say in the matter. Basically, is it supposed to do this? And what can I do to fix it, either by stopping it trying or installing it properly?
View 2 RepliesWhen I install modem MMX310G 3G USB MANAGER in windows 10, it shows driver installation failed and when open this app it shows no devices.
View 2 RepliesI have tried to update an older laptop to Windows10, three times, or roughly 8 gigs of data. In all three attempts it has failed and stopped at 32% of the installation; and in all three attempts Windows had to automatically roll back to Windows, in my case Windows7.
Searching for solutions, none of them work, one of those solutions is to disconnect all your peripherals and try again based on the error you see in the image. I only have one peripheral and I seriously doubt it would cause Windows10 not to update when I have the same device on another machine and the update to Windows10 worked successfully; although I disconnect the one peripheral and I was right, same problem, Windows10 failed to update ?
Today i tried to install visual studio express 2015 for windows 10 but an error occured [URL] ....
Also i have the log file [URL] .....
Although I have been notified that my upgrade is ready to install, every time I try this it fails with an error message code of '80070002'. I've followed MS instructions on how to fix but guess what - it still fails.
View 4 RepliesI was invited to download/install Windows 10 and I followed all the steps to download the files. Then I clicked to install it and it seemed to be doing it. Windows closed down and the computer restarted, but when it opened again it was still Windows 7 and there was a box up relating to Windows upgrades that that said the 'latest upgrade' had failed, and there was a button to click to download Windows 10 if I wanted to (again?!).
I don't know where all the files are that were downloaded and what I should do. I saw a suggestion somewhere that firewall/antivirus software can be a problem. I have Bitdefender, that doesn't allow you to disable it.. I suppose I could remove it completely before trying again? But otherwise what should I do? I don't want to download a lot of duplicate files again.
i tried to wipe my hard drive using the system wipe function in windows settings, and I let it do that while I had to go do something else. I came back to an error that it had an error during the process, and a sole button "cancel." It now tries and fails to boot up past the hp splash screen, and then black screens and resets. It does this in a loop, f8 does nothing, and it detects nothing. My warranty expired a mere 5 days ago, and I am absolutely lost.
View 9 RepliesMy Windows 7 was updating to Windows 10. When it appeared to almost be done configuring a message appeared stating the Windows 10 could not be installed and it was restoring the previous version of Windows.
Well that did not work. The pc will not boot up now. Instead I get: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <windows root>system32hal.dll Please reinstall a copy of the above file"
I hope I can add the file using the win7 dvd. I know I was getting low on hard drive space, but had cleared enough to have 4 gig or so free. It was either not mentioned anywhere or I missed how much hd space would be needed. Of course I am assuming that the install bombed due to this?
I just upgraded my Win 7 Laptop to Win 10, but I seem to have lost my admin rights to certain folders and actions.
I am getting "You don't have permission to save in this location" messages when trying to look at the Local Users and Groups console or save files.I can not download/ save (do not get the save dialog at the bottom of Edge (or IE for that matter)).Also I am not able to do the "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead" procedure in the "Your account" window. Nothing happens when I fill in my email and click.
I want my control back, of the Laptop. How do I solve this?
