Installation :: Boot Error After Clean Install To SSD Old HDD Still Attached
Sep 23, 2015
Inserted my new SSD to a SATA3 port and, next to my HDD 1TB, and went for a clean install right away. The system installed without problems (wiht the old HDD still attached), then i booted up the system (was a bit weird, because two versions were showing, however i formatted the old windows partition) and installed my programs. I saw that a 110 MB of data were still sitting on my old partition where the Windows 10 was earlier. Tried to delete those files but could not. However I shut down my pc and wanted to boot up again. Then it showed me a screen with "select proper boot device or restart computer". I went to BIOS to see if my SSD was set to primary boot device, but it was. But when i manaully select the boot device, my SSD, after starting up the computer, it boots into Windows and is running normally.
Can it be that there is no boot partition on my SSD and it wants to use the boot files from the HDD?? I also tried to unplug the HDD and boot up, but the same massage was showing up. But when i select the boot device manually it works.

Read the tutorials but still not sure... I want to use my new SSD Win 10 Pro 64bit upgrade clean install via Brink's USB tutorial (when done setting everything up) and would like possibility to be able to dual boot with/to my old Win 7 Pro 64 SSD in same box.
Can this be done this way and what's the way to get the bios to play nice with the two Windows SSD operating systems ?

I am trying to do a clean install of windows 10 on a new SSD on an HP Pavillion purchased in 2009 or 2010. I am booting from a DVD. All is going well in the beginning of the install. I get past the product key verification and partition section. Once it starts copying the windows file during the install it has been giving me the following error message and stopping the install:
"Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070003."
It has made it to different percentages of copying files before it gives me the error. Once I believe it made it almost to 100% and then gave me the error.
I have since re-downloaded the ISO twice onto different discs with no success. Have called microsoft support with no success. Tried booting from USB but the computer does not seem to support it. Tried updating bios but no newer versions were available.

OK, I have Windows 7 OEM Version and want to upgrade to Windows 10 After I get Windows 10 Activated through the upgrade can I...
Clean install Windows 7 (with Original 7 key) and clean install Windows 10 (should automatically activate) to have a dual boot? Or is Microsoft going to block my activation saying you can't have both 7 and 10?
I have a different computer that has a OEM-Builders edition of Windows 7. I don't want Windows 10 on it right now as the software I need to run will not run on it but...
I want to upgrade to Windows 10 just to get the free upgrade and activate then revert back to Windows 7.
Later on down the road a year or so can I install Windows 10 with no problems activating it?

Win 7 user here, wanting to dual boot with Windows 10 preview (on a different partition).
So I made a Win 10 usb boot disc, and it installed it fine. Played around with the new Windows for a few mins, whilst it downloaded an update, and after installing the update, it said it needs to restart, naturally. So I did.
However, since then, the PC keeps restarting, showing a Windows 10 logo, and below that is the text, "preparing automatic repair". Then it just resets, and goes in this endless loop.
Why is this happening, and how do I resolve it?

I just build a new machine with a Gigabyte B85M-D3H mobo, Intel Pentium G3258 CPU, 4GB Corsair Value Select DDR3 1333 and 120GB Samsung EVO SSD. I now want to clean install Windows 10 Home (64-bit) from USB drive (created with media creation tool), but the machine is stuck in boot loop. The Windows logo appears for a few seconds and then the machine reboots, I don't have clue where in the boot process something goes wrong.
I already tried with a usb stick with Windows 8 installation files and this starts without issues. I made sure Fast boot en secure boot were disabled but without success. Also already reset the BIOS with optimized settings.
The stick boots till the first screen on different other machines.

I have an acer aspire v5 573g. I wanted to clean install Windows 10 on it. And every time I tried it gave me an error code : 0x800701E3. I thought it might be due corrupt instalation file or something. I tried other copies but it gives same error. I don't know what it means. I tried searching on the net, but I didn't find anything. I will also attach a photo which I took.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and I would like to do a clean install. However My PC has a 1tb HDD as the C: drive and a secondary 25gb SSD drive called D:. I was wondering if there is a way to install the OS on the D: drive. I have done OS installs before so I am somewhat familiar with the procedure. I also already have a Windows 10 install USB set up. I just can't get it to offer the option of which drive to install on. The D: drive does currently have a folder on it labeled Drivers and in that folder there 14 folders such as Bluetooth, WLAN , and Card reader. Is this going to be an issue when installing Windows 10 on the D: drive or will Windows re-download these drivers itself?

I worked with my friend install windows 10 on his desktop pc. but after installation, it wont boot, rather showing bsod error 0xc000021a, we have tried reinstalling for a couple of times, but the error persisted. BTW, the previous os was windows 7. We deleted the previous OS's partition and installed it there, but it seems like nothing happened.

I managed to upgrade from 8.1 to 10 with no issues, but I wanted a clean install - so I went through the reset process.
Unfortunately now it is stuck on a restart loop.
I get the message
"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart, we will restart for you
if you need to know more you can search later for this error: Inaccessible_device_error
I'm going to create an 8.1 usb with the media creation tool (tried to do one for 10, but this failed during verification.

I was having long boot time issues with windows 7. It was taking more than 5-6 mins for my pc to become responsive on desktop. Then I upgraded windows 10 today , issue still persisted. After that , I tried clean installing the 10.
I still have issues which are :
1)After Windows logo I have a black screen for a couple of minutes then logon screen comes. ( Last reboot : 1.5 mins )
2)After logon , my formatted pc takes some time to became responsive due the system and svchost processes using hdd %100.
(2mins after logon , usage goes down and pc is responsive)
I checked my HDD and it was fine when using win 7.

I did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64 using the method that everyone knows about by now that was written up on various sites today i.e.:
Ran the Media Creation Tool and upgraded my copy of Window 8.1 Professional with Windows 10 Professional. Looked in Control Panel --> System and it said my copy of Windows was activated. Then I ran the Media Creation Tool again and downloaded the ISO. Burned ISO to DVD. Restarted computer, booted into Windows installer on DVD, customized the install by formatting drive, did a fresh install of Windows 10.
Now when I go into Control Panel --> System it says "Windows not activated". When I click on the Activate Windows icon and click the error details link I get the error code: 0xC004C003.
I should note that the Windows 8 OS came pre-installed on my laptop which I bought brand new. I don't think that matters?

Since upgrading to W10, My puter will no longer load when I have my external hard-drive attached. When I switch on my puter, I get a black screen with the message 'Non-System disk or disk error, Replace and strike any key when ready'.
When I reboot with the ext HD disconnected the reboot is fine and W10 loads no problem. If I reconnect the Ext HD while the puter is up and running, no problem, and both the computer and now attached external hard drive function perfectly.
I have tried reformatting the external hard drive but I still have the same start-up problem when the ext HD is attached on start-up.

I'm about to do a clean install of Windows 10 pro 64bit on to a new SSD I just received in the mail and wondering how I will be able to activate it? I originally did an upgrade from Win7 Pro to Win10 pro and then a clean install from there back when Win10 pro first became available. I read that I can use the Windows Key on the back of my laptop but I'm not sure that will work because it's a whole new SSD.

I originally followed the path to upgrade my 8.1 Pro to Windows 10. Everything went fine and I created the USB during the process. Activation was OK.
Then after a few days and some unusual problems I reloaded my last Image of 8.1 Pro.
Question is Can I go back and just do a clean install since I have already did the upgrade process?

Second PC with Win 7 Pro 32 bit was a struggle...but succeeded in Brinks clean install and activation of 10...but was a real struggle.
Now...how can I transfer the new 10 install on an HDD to a new Sata SSD in the same box ? So far haven't figured out how to make the SSD with an installed image of the new 10 install from HDD to boot from the Sata at PC startup ?
What am I doing wrong...and how do I get the SSD image of my new 10 clean install to boot from the SSD ?
I think it has to do with partitions and active Windows partition but don't remember what/how to change the boot disk to the new SSD....

I upgraded from Win 7 pro about a month ago hoping that would cure some problems I had with Win 7. It did not and Win 10 is working poorly too. I would like to do a clean install of Win 10 but not sure if I can get the correct Win 10 install file just from my Win 7 pro product key. Is there a download source for that since I have already upgraded to Win 10?

I did a clean install on a new SSD that I had previously formatted and neglected to delete the partition ending up without a MSR partition. I've already installed lots of applications so starting over would not be something that I'd want to do. What are possible problems that I could be looking at going forward?
