Installation :: Can't Find Update History - No Notification
Aug 5, 2015
I got updated last night. I can't find my update history. I used to be able to in Win 7. In Win 10 I don't know what to click on. A notification appeared at the lower right corner of the screen and then disappeared after about two seconds. The Notification area says No Notifications.

I know I can go to My Library and see every app I've ever downloaded but that's not useful, I've downloaded three times as many apps as I've kept. I want an update history list like the W8 mobile store has.

I noticed this morning, when I was trying to correlate a problem I was having with Quicken, that my update history is missing from Settings. View your Update History. I realize that I can see it in Control Panel Programs. Programs and Features Installed Updates but I am curious if there is a way that I can bring this info back to Settings.

A cumulative update came through and didn't install correctly. The Settings app Update history keeps saying it needs a restart to install correctly.
Reinstalled, no change. I uninstalled the update and Windows Update reapplied it successfully. Now the Update history says two entries for the same update, one that it installed successfully and the previous one is still there saying it needs a restart to finish installing.
Any way to clean up the reporting of the app?

Received an update notification in Windows 10 update screen.
When I press the INSTALL NOW button, the spinning circle appears and says in motion without starting the install.
I have minimized the window and also checked the task bar. Still the install does not take place.

This has been happening for the last week. I need to know which update it rode in on so I can remove it. It is very irritating just like the Windows 8 to 8.1 forced update notification.
I have my system set to only notify me about updates, at which time I use the Update Hider diagcab to hide unwanted updates. But this is a new twist, now I am still forced to do updates from this obnoxious notification.
How would I shut this off, I disabled the Forced Windows 8 to 8.1 update notification through Group Policy Editor, would I remove this one the same way?
When it pops up, and it will pop up in the middle of my work, I can't DO anything except to click on it. This is mostly why I stick to Windows 7 because of cack like this.

I updated to windows 10 and ended up getting the black screen with a cursor. I followed some instructions to log in which worked and so am at the desktop but now whenever I open anything it doesn't appear onscreen, I assume this is caused by the same driver error (am running intel CPU + GTX 970 GPU) that makes the computer think there are 2 monitors.
how I can get into the settings to turn of this 'second monitor'?
EDIT: I just dragged the off screen settings on screen by guessing where to click in the end.

I've disabled automatic updates (drivers, Win updates) by making changes to Win 10. Now every entry in Update History is listed as a failed update. Of course, no update has failed; I don't want to install them yet. Is there a way to delete failed update entries?

When I look to see how much room I left no my hard drive it says one out of two TB is full but I cant find what's taking up that 1 TB anywhere.

I have two Windows 10 laptops. One updated to whatever version that added the "Find My Device" option in "Updates & Security." The other doesn't seem to be able to update to that version. Of course, the laptop that got it is one that stays at home and the one where it would be useful because I travel with it, it's not updating.
I am just assuming the cause is that it's not updating Windows 10 to the version that activates "Find My Device."

I reserved Windows 10 upgrade in July. App shows that computer is compatible. It is near the end of Nov. and no notification to install. Should the Threshold 2 update allow me to install Windows 10? Everyone around me seems to have gotten the notice to install the upgrade but me.

My upgrade has arrived however when I click on the 'Upgrade Available' link the install hangs on the 'working on it' screen.
At one point this morning I received a message that said I need Administrator permission. No error code. I have not received this message again despite trying the link numerous times. I am an Administrator on the system.

I recently tried to upgrade a friend's Windows 8.1 notebook to Windows 10. I had a Windows 10 Greek DVD-ROM with me to save time waiting for the update to download. I checked System Properties, it was Windows 8.1 64-bit, everything was in Greek, so I assumed he had the Greek Windows version and I could proceed with the upgrade using my DVD-ROM. Unfortunately he originally had the English version and he had added the Greek Language Pack and changed the default display language to Greek! So after wasting about half an hour for Windows Setup to check and download updates, we were presented with the choice of keeping his data only (second), the choice to keep both data and applications (first) was grayed out. I read at the bottom that I could not make a proper upgrade because the language I'm trying to install was different from the system language! Oh my God! Eventually we wasted another hour to wait for the upgrade to download!
So the question is how can I check which is the original system language? One possible way is to install a utility such as Aida64 and go to the Operating System section, but this is not really convenient to download and install a utility just to check the language version. How can I do it from Windows without using any utility? System Properties do not display this information and if the user has changed the display language, like in my friend's case, you can be deceived. Neither does winver, I checked.
