View 6 RepliesI have a new Dell Computer with Windows 10. I have deleted McAfee with its on Uninstaller and also with another uninstaller. I have no other antimalware programs running. I have tried a number of ways to start Windows Defender, which is the only antimalware program listed in my Security area. I have tried to start it with Services. I get an error message as shown below. I get this error message: "The Windows Defender Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs." I have removed all other antimalware programs and no longer get McAfee popups.
View 10 RepliesI'm logged on, it's my computer, I'm the administrator, there are no AV running. However I get the system error " Windows Defender is being managed by your system administrator" controlled by group policy. All I want to do is turn it on. Local Group Policy shows nothing is configured...??
View 3 RepliesI tried to turn on defender got error code 0x800b0100. Googled that and the Windows update troubleshooter says I have a missing or corrupt file.
View 9 RepliesI am having trouble with Windows Defender and Update. I am getting error 0x800705b4 for Defender and though I've searched online on how to fix the problem none of them seem to work. Also, my computer won't let me access the update & security portion of my settings. When I click on it the window closes immediately.
View 3 RepliesI can't turn on Windows Defender. When I try to launch it, a window saying "This app has been turned off and is not monitoring your computer" pops up. I tried everything that's listed on the MS answers thread. I am unable to start the Windows Security Centre service too. It doesn't stay enabled i.e., it becomes disabled as soon as I close the Services app. I have no anti-virus installed. Been using WD since I upgraded.
View 1 Repliesis it possible to uninstall the first installed OS (Windows 8.1) in the SSD that has also win 10 installed into the second partition without losing data in win 10? If not from windows tools maybe using some software? Currently this is how my SSD is:
Disk0: [System Reserved:350Mt][D:233Gt][C:231Gt][Recovery:450Mt] D being windows 8.1
How can I uninstall Windows 10? I am having a ton of problems and no longer want to deal with them. I cannot go to the Control Panel and say Uninstall the program since the Control Panel Uninstall Programs shows only very small % of the programs I have on the computer. Just one of the many problems. I do have a Windows 8.1 flash drive from Dell so I can reinstall Windows 8.1.
View 8 RepliesSo I've finally managed to install Windows 10 Pro x64 although with Windows 7 left over in dual boot. It created a "Windows.old" folder in the C: drive and Windows 7 doesn't boot anymore. How do I uninstall Windows 7 from my PC and will it affect any files?
View 7 RepliesAn old problem seems to have re-occurred with W10 -- I had a post ages ago - can't find it - about this problem --if I haven't used the computer for a while and then I want to browse files on a standard HDD there is a delay while the HDD powers on (or seems to) and then I get the file.
I know an HDD is nothing like as fast as an SSD but I can hear the HDD starting up -- is there any way to turn this delay OFF.
set turn HDD off to 0 (i.e Never) -- you have to look at power options in Control panel (advanced) rather than settings.
I recently started trying out Windows 10. It's buggy and frustrating, but it's still in preview mode, so... That's expected.
Nothing was working when I installed build 10074 off disc, so I installed build 9926 off a disc (I got the iso from MSDNAA, I'm a programming student) then upgraded via settings to 10074.
During the upgrade, my laptop started resetting, normal. But halfway through, the resets stopped working.
The screen switches off, the cd drive switches off and the hdd activity light switches off, but the power stays on, and the fan keeps running. It also doesn't switch off on shutdown either.
I finally have a working version of Windows 10, minus Cortana and Spartan (I'm in Aus), but now my laptop won't shut down.
Could it be drivers? Is it OS interference? Is there a way to fix it without uninstalling and re installing Win 10? I really cbf going through all that again...
I started my windows 10 update around 10:00 last night. For awhile it seemed stuck in suspend mode (black screen, monitor light orange, computer light still on etc) and I was worried but eventually I got the update screen and it went from 30% to 56% in around 30 minutes or so.The bottom screen said my computer would turn off and on again multiple times. But then later it went back to the "suspend mode" again right before I fell asleep and now 9 hours later it's still stuck like this!! No update screen no nothing. Just sitting is a suspend mode (I think!) And not allowing me to do anything.
View 3 RepliesDoes the new Maps app being built for the phone and PC features voice turn-by-turn navigation? I know the current Maps app does not. You need to use Here Drive or another third party app for voice navigation.
View 1 RepliesI am having problems with me Mouse and key board, on boot up they will turn on for about 20 seconds then turn off. Then a error comes up,inaccessible_ boot_drive. But if I restart my pc the mouse and keyboard will do the same thing but instead of the error I get, choose keyboard layout, and a list of options but I cant choose them because the mouse isn't working. This all started happening after I upgraded my power supple but I when I put my old power supple in I had the same problem. I have windows 10and I have tried using different keyboards and different usb ports.

View 1 RepliesAfter updating to windows 10 I don't need Classic Shell any more.
But how to uninstall, the uninstall button is disabled.
I've been trying to uninstall google chrome for a while but each time I try to do, I get a message that says " Please close all google chrome windows (including those in Windows 8 mode) and try again"...
I don't even know what that means, what does it mean by windows 8 mode and how can I uninstall the program?
I am not a fan of Cortana because of the privacy concerns and I prefer Braina assistant. I have already disabled Cortana on my laptop by following this tutorial : [URL]. How can I remove Cortana completely from my laptop?
View 4 RepliesMy upgrade to 10 has gone pretty well so far. The only problem is that Audacity audio editor (2.0.6) won't work
("Internal PortAudio error"/"program not supported.")
I want to uninstall it, but it's not recognized by Windows 10 "Uninstall Programs."
What's the best way to do this without messing up the registry?
I was wanting to do the same (remove the very annoying OneDrive) and while searching around the net I came across this. Note the very first post with the Batch file to remove the OneDrive from your Windows 10 install. I do not take credit for it,
View 3 RepliesI know how to uninstall programs and such, however, I have a theme that is called AlienwareRed, and I can't find where the uninstall is for it. This theme changed all the icons etc.
I've changed the theme to a different one, but the icons are still the ones from AlienwareRed, so I'd like to uninstall it.
I can't find it in Uninstall Programs.
I must be missing something really simple. How do I uninstall a Windows Store app?
View 6 RepliesI can't seem to uninstall avg safeguard toolbar. When I try, Internet Explorer pops up telling me to uninstall the extension from chrome. I don't have that extension in Chrome. How to uninstall this malware?
View 2 RepliesWindows 10 OS using NVidia graphics and Realtek sound. This morning after a windows update ran , I have no sound. Troubleshooting shows that a solution maybe to reinstall 2 drivers from Realtek and NVidia. I tried the Auto fix solution but problem persists. On the Device Manager it is showing an orange warning triangle on both drivers, saying reinstall. Code 18. As I said the Auto update install does not rectify the problemCan I safely uninstall the drivers ? And then how do I reinstall them ?
View 4 RepliesThe normal uninstall of old drivers in Device Manager isn't working. I am trying to update my Intel 7260AC Wi-Fi adapter to the latest Windows 10 drivers (18.12 from Intel's website). They won't install. The .exe runs but the drivers don't change and the new drivers aren't even listed in device manager to select. I can only select between two older driver versions that were once used under Win 8.1 (I upgraded).
When I try to uninstall the device, the check box to uninstall software isn't available. The device will uninstall but simply comes back with one of those two drivers. Is there another way to permanently remove them (e.g. where does Windows store driver software including registry entries). I would like to simply get rid of anything and try to get 18.12 drivers to install...I'm thinking they are somehow conflicting and preventing the install.
I've tried uninstalling through Windows and Ccleaner and it looks like it's uninstalled but when I open the uninstall utility (both Windows and Ccleaner) up again Paragon HFS Explorer is back on the list. There are no folders or files for it anywhere in my program files but it magically appears under installed programs.
This is a problem since when I try to install the new version it says it's already installed. So the old version is not there or working and I can't can't install a new version either since Windows thinks the old version is there still for some reason.
