Installation :: Can't Upgrade From Preview To Final No Update Found
Oct 2, 2015
Installed the windows 10 preview on my IMac a while back and was upgrading fine and then it stopped updating as the updates would fail constantly, and now my IMac is still on build 10162. It was running fine but the time has come and my computer will be rendered useless in a matter of days(your pc will restart every few hours and will eventually fail to start if you don't upgrade to the latest version)... Windows update doesn't detect any updates, the preview builds option in settings is completely GONE and there is no way at all to update (at least not without losing everything i guess ) How can I upgrade my computer to the final version of windows 10 and keep all my data?
At the final step of update, my laptop screen starts flashing. I restarted it, log in, the screen starts flashing again. I don't want window 10 anymore...
I think I ccleaned something important. Under ccleaner I clicked Clear: Windows event logs,Wipe Free Space, Tray Notification Cache, Menu Order Cache, Old Prefetch Data, Environmental Path. Along with the basics such as brower cache.
After a restart, entire screen was black, however I had a mouse that could move. I did alt tab, there were processes running but very few.
Out of panic I restarted everything. I restarted the computer and went into the system repair. After no mistake was found by it, I ended up after some other attempts of finding out the problem I reinstalled windows 10 completely. Keep in mind this is through the Windows Repair.
Windows 10 installs after a few hours.
Now currently: Windows 10 runs up to the point where I select my language, location (time area) and the other settings. After clicking the final step, "use express settings", i click next, when I do this it goes to the loading screen. (I think it said please wait).
After a few seconds of loading, it restarts.
After the restart it takes me back to the beginning of the installation, (the part about choosing the language, location, etc) and I do it again, and it happens again, like a loop.
things attempted: Sfc/scannow, says no corrupt files Starting up in safe mode (safe mode regular (4) and safe mode with command prompt), doesn't start up in safe mode/it goes back to the regular installation loop.
I'm in a lurch on 10162. I haven't received an email to update to 66, and windows is telling I'm up to date. My friend got 10166 installed, and he's having an issue with resolutions, so I'm trying to install now.
I am running windows insider preview on my Acer iconia. On july 29 when Windows 10 is launched, can i upgrade it directly or do i have to restore windows 8.1 and then upgrade to windows 10
Just wondering if there will be an opportunity to upgrade to the official Win 10 release from the Technical Preview using a Windows product code (legit), or will I have to go back to the previous Win 7 install and do an upgrade? It would be super convenient as a tester to be able to just upgrade the same way the incremental releases have been pushed out.
my video thumbnails wont update. It shows me the preview of the first video thumbnail but when i select another, the preview remains the same in the preview pane. I use the "List" view. i am a video editor who just pdated to windows 10

I was using windows 8.1 -- and didn't have this problem -- when I upgraded to Windows 10. I like everything about 10 so far EXCEPT this.
Someone in another forum recommended installing VLC media player and associating all video files with it. This worked for some users who were experiencing this issue, but it didn't work for me unfortunately.

So I recently found out about how the Windows 10 upgrades will roll out. Because of that, I have not yet reserved the upgrade, but will do so very soon. I may not be expecting the upgrade until September! Being that Windows Insiders who installed the tech preview will be the first to receive the upgrade, is it possible to install the tech preview on a new partition or hard drive alongside Windows 8.1 and receive the free upgrade that way while keeping both OSs?
i have windows 8.1 and already reserved windows 10 , but windows update doesn't work always stuck at checking for updates i tried all fixes on the internet and it didn't work . so how do i get windows 10?
I updated to windows 10 and I couldn't find any of my files. Eventually found them moved in a folder. Once I restarted my computer, all of the files were gone and I had more storage on my computer. These are files as in music, movies, and pictures. They are NO WHERE to be found.
I 'upgraded' to Windows 10 yesterday and initially found the control panel but can no longer find it. I very badly want to change my wallpaper and screen saver.
I am using Windows 7 SP1 [ Genuine ]. My upgrade to windows 10 is ready via windows update but i don't want to install it. how to remove this option so that normal system updates can be install.
I just updated my media center to version 1511 of windows 10. Via wifi, downloaded and installed ok i thought. But have found i cannot see any wireless networks. Normally about 7 up in my area.
I've tried uninstalled the device and installing it again. I've tried checking for newer drivers, but isn't any. I've tried resetting these in command prompt (admin) net sch advfirewall, int ip, int ipv6, winsock and rebooted afterwards. I've tried plugging the usb wifi adapter into a different usb port. I've tried restarting the Router. Mobile phone picks up wifi in the same room.
I did an in place upgrade of Windows 7 using a USB key made with the tool Microsoft put out. I chose not to download updates during the install, so after the initial boot, Windows started downloading updates. I reinstalled the latest nVidia drivers/Geforce Experience as well. During the next boot cycle, at some point explorer crashed and the screen flashed black, at which point that process repeats forever. I let it go over an hour just to see what would happen. URL...
The suggestion on that site is to disable 2 Windows Services: Problem Reports and Solution Control Panel Support and Windows Error Report Service. This didn't work for me, though it appears to have worked for many others. The culprit for me was Apple's iCloud service. As the taskbar was being populated, this task would load and throw an error message about logging in, at which point the crash loop began. Uninstalling this program solved the issue for me.
I'm currently running Windows 7 Pro on a Lenovo ThinkPad.
I have the Get Windows 10 icon showing. When I click it, it takes me to the Upgrade Now button. So far so good.
When I click the Upgrade Now button, I get the starting to download screen with the circle dots. After a few seconds, it then takes me to the Windows 7 'Windows Update' page in the control panel, where it says that 'windows is up to date'. And that's it.
How to get Windows 10 to upgrade? I've done other laptops without issue.
I got myself a new 120GB SSD for the jump to Windows 10. I install the OS without problems from a DVD disk, boot up and begin to install stuff as steam, spotify and GeForce experience.
I remove the installation disk from my DVD reader and reboot. After the BIOS screen I get a message that claims there are no bootable media.
With the installation disk in the DVD reader everything works fine, I get an option to boot the installation even though the DVD is nr 2 in boot order after my sole storage unit.
I have tried to use all those bootrec commands to restore, repair or create a new bootmgr and so on. No installations of Windows can be found either. Been doing this for 6 hours now. I have reinstalled windows 10, 8 and 7. All with the same problem.
I plugged in one of my older 60GB SSDs and successfully installed Windows 10 on it. No sign of any boot problems. Booted without the installation disc. Same SATA connection on the motherboard. No changes in boot order.
So my thoughts about this right now, is it possible my new SSD have a defect from the beginning? Something in the hardware/hardware controller?
And yes I have searched around and Everyone seems to get it working with bootrec commands. I don't...
I upgraded from windows 7 to 10 about 2 weeks ago, absolutely no issues, i was happy with everything.
My computer had froze and i forced a shut down via power button. Upon starting again i was greeted with "no operating system found"
I fixed that problem now im greeted with a black screen with something like "no bootable device found please detach any devices"
What i have tried is....
Made a win10 usb with the media creation tool from another computer.
Startup repair does not work, error is "the hard drive is locked"
I have tried with the command prompt the following commands
Bootrec /fixboot Bootrec /fixmbr Bootrev /rebuildbcd *rebuildbcd tells me i have 2 installed windows os. One is regular windows and windows.old*
(If i say Yes to rebuild both of those, my media creation usb stops working if i restart. I get the error 0xc00000f and have to recreate the media creation tool on the usb. Otherwise i keep getting the same error)
I have also tried different sata ports on my motherboard, resetting bios settings, changing boot order, changed sata cable. What else can i do?
I have recently upgrade to Win 10 from windows 7 and it was running fine until it started booting with the analyzing and repairing windows screen. I had tried to get out of it by windows repair and by system restore but there were no points to restore too. I ended up trying the windows reset which failed when I selected to leave my files so then I tried the reset including removing my files. It failed part way through saying it could not complete the action and now when I boot up every time I get "An operating system wasn't found" etc. I do not have a windows CD or know my windows registration number.
I am planning to replace the HDD in my laptop with an SSD, and do a completely fresh install of windows (rather than cloning my current drive). I'm currently running Windows 7. My question is, should I:
(a) Replace the HDD, reinstall Windows 7 using my current product key, then upgrade to Win10. CONCERN: After I reinstall windows 7, will it give me the upgrade option straight away. I don't want to have to wait a couple of weeks before windows decides to make the Win10 update available.
(b) Update Windows to 10 before swapping out HDDs, then reinstall Windows from a Win10 iso. CONCERN: Will Win10 recognise my machine and accept that I have a legit version of windows, since I won't have a Win10 product key.
I've got a notebook Pavilion DV6-3152SL with hardware AMD Phenom(tm) II N620 Dual-Core 64 bit, bios F29.
After upgrading from Windows 7 HP to Windows 10, I've got a big problem with the AMD graphic drivers, which are both now version 15.200.1062.1004. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series seems to work fine, while AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series stopped working of an error code 43 and I'm unable to fix it. I've already tried these chances, but no one of them has succeded to solve the problem of my AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series:
- Updating the driver from the AMD website both installing it manually and utilizing AMD Catalyst Istall Manager; - Withdrawing the HD 5000 to let Windows Update installing a new one; - Updating through the software HP Support Assistant.
... But I can't fix it: driver update for AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series is impossible. And, in any case the configuration goes lost at reboot and my notebook goes on saying "No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly.
