I used TrueImage 15 to clone and shrink my win10 load to a new SSD. Original drive was a 1tb with 120g used in a 900g partition. I had TI clone and shrink that to the 240g SSD. However, the bootmgr was left behind.
I used EasyBCD 2.2 to put the bootmgr back but now it seems to be still missing a few secret win10 parts and asking for startup repair.. Can I use the downloaded win10p64 cd?
Got a new Samsung SSD, used the software that came with it to move C to new drive. Ended up with msg "Bootmgr missing". Reinstalled original hard drive, got the same msg. Pulled out SSD, hooked it up to my laptop. Looked at it and the software cloned C drive but the sequence is wrong. It has the 450meg partition first, then the UEFI partition and then the Primary partition. Is there anyway to move the partitions to the correct sequence? I can get into the BIOS but I can't do anything mouse, keys,tab nothing will work so I can change the boot order to my DVD drive to install a fresh copy of Windows.

View 1 RepliesAs IE11 was malfunctioning, and my GT610 driver doesn't seem to work properly in Win10 32 bit, I attempted to upgrade to Win 10 x64 on my machine (Dual core, 64 bit ready, 4GB ram), and whilst doing so I think I've deleted the C: boot partition. I had partitioned the C drive and put the data in F: drive partition before hand so I didn't lose all my data.
When rebooting, I got the message "bootmgr is missing", so tried to boot from a Win 10 32bit iso DVD. I can get the DVD to launch, and tried to go through a repair, but got the message that the drive/partition was locked. I can't repair it, or boot. I also tried fixing it using Minitool Partition Wizard, which shows the partition without a label and as "unformatted". wasn't sure whether I should format the partition or not.
what I can do, to unlock the drive (from command prompt?) and then reinstall or repair Win 10.
Can I keep the F: partition with the data on it whilst doing an install of the x64 bit windows, or will I have to reformat the whole disk because of the different architecture?
I just cloned my ssd onto another ssd twice its size however windows reports the size as the same, and in partition manager from windows it wont allow me to expand only shrink the size.
The disk size in part manager is also the same size as the original drive.
I just bought a new 2tb HDD to replace my ancient 160gb one. Since I'm overall very happy w/ my Windows 10 installation I decided to clone instead of install fresh and used Macrium Reflect to clone the drive. Upon switching from the old to the new one, I was disappointed to encounter a bluescreen boot error, after the Windows logo and spinning symbol had been displaying for a few seconds: Error 0xc00000e, system_service_exception. Trying to boot into any variety of safe mode gives the same result. I didn't think this was an MBR issue based on how far into the boot process it happened, but I tried repairing / rebuilding the MBR anyway and it didn't change the problem.
The weird thing is that when I plugged in my old drive to boot to it and troubleshoot, my system actually booted to the new, clone drive, and it works perfectly - exactly like the old one did - but it only works like this with the old drive plugged in.

Obviously the new drive is the larger C:, which is correctly flagged as system, active, primary, etc. D: is the old drive. (Before I cloned and switched, the old drive was C.)
I suspect the issue might have to do with the un-lettered 450mb recovery partition I didn't clone over from the old hard drive, but I'm not sure. Everything looks to me like the C: drive should boot on its own, but it just doesn't.
I started my PC this morning and was greeted with a BootMGR missing error, i followed a few things online including going into the CMD and entering the following codes;
bootrec /RebuildBcd
bootrec /FixMbr
bootrec /FixBoot
They didn't work so i've decided it would be easier to just reset my OS, however if i try to reset i'm told i haven't enough space in my C drive. So how can i make space without being able to go into my PC properly?
Recently installed my new A10-6800K CPU, worked perfectly. checked my system information to make sure everything was at the versions they needed to be, noticed that the MoBo (gigabyte f2a68hm-hd2) version was from 2014 so i updated it to the latest version but delayed when it asked me to restart. everything carried on as normal
got back from work, turned it on. bam,
"BOOTMGR is Missing
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
I tried pressing them on wireless keyboard - it didnt work. tried it on my wired keyboard - didn't work.
I tried putting the windows installation disk in and restarting it - didnt work.
I think it was the MoBo update that did it...

Unplugged internal HDD and put the installation iso on an ext. HDD.. manages to get onto installation part (it complains that it cant install it on my ext. hard drive)
I just finished building my first ever PC. I am using the education edition of windows 10 if that makes a difference. I downloaded it to a blank flash drive I had lying around via this link: [URL] .... When I tried to install windows, it said "bootMGR is missing". I set the flash drive to boot first in BIOS but it still doesn't work. I am wondering if it has to do with formatting or something like that.

My original os is win7 then i upgraded to 10... After a while of using it... It opens the Blue screen saying unmountable boot volume.. Also i dont have win7 cd since the os was built in...
Next i rebooted it, it says "preparing automatic repair" i tried to wait.. But after it says that, it goes to a black screen and nothing happens
Then i tried dloading the iso from the site and then burned it to a usb.. Then it says

*presses any key*
BOOTMGR is missing
Press ctrl+alt+delete to restart
Is the problem in the usb or it just wont open because of the error?

View 9 Repliesi recently upgraded my hard drive to a new samsung 850 pro ssd 512 gb . i used the samsung migration software and it all went smooth , i checked the newly installed ssd in disk management and it shows that it copied all three partitions which are, 500mb healthy ( recovery partition) .........260mb healthy (EFI system partition) and windows (c 476.18gb NTFS healthy (boot,page file, crash Dump, primary partition) .
Everything seemed to be working fine until tonight when i had a ethernet problem which turned out to be one of my ports on my router going bad . but before i realised that all i needed to do was try a different port on my router i tried resetting my pc to factory settings but it would not let me do it with the new ssd drive so i then tried making a recovery usb flash drive but windows said it could not do it because files were missing .
So even though it shows that i have a recovery partition in computer management i cannot use it . i have not got a clue on how to fix this problem with the new ssd . i swapped the old hard drive back in to the pc and tried to make a system recovery usb drive and it worked fine so why cant i do this from the new ssd and why would files be missing from the newly cloned disk ?

Today I cloned windows 10 using Clonezilla latest stable, but when i restarted the pc with only the new hdd which i cloned windows in plugged, it says "failed boot please insert boot disk press enter" , when i plugged my other hdd , booted to windows and took a look at how clonezilla saved the image :

So here is my issue I had Windows 10 installed on my Asus which I had Upgraded from Windows 8. However lately my computer was running slow and unresponsive at times. I figured I would do a Factory Reset and start new on it to try and fix these issues I was having. However when I while in the process of Reseting my Laptop the reset had failed. Now when I turn my laptop on it just sits at the black screen with the Asus Logo. I have tried many solutions to this such as hitting delete prompt and resetting my start up settings.

View 1 RepliesWhen I updated my computer from windows 7 to windows 10, all of a sudden I don't seem to have a CD/DVD drive anymore. It shows up in the BIOS but not on the actual computer. I have tried to make sure the computers all plugged in correctly and it is. So what can I do to resolve this issue, and if there are so many problems with windows 10 why on earth allow have of the entire population download, especially when MICROSOFT should have thought of all the bugs and fixed them ahead of time. Its not fair to offer free upgrades, when its essentially a downgrade?
View 6 RepliesSo, one day i was just thinking of doing a clean install of Windows from a bootable USB drive and after i got everything set up, clean installation done and ready to go i noticed that.. Windows only created one drive, and that's my lonely C: drive with the space of my old C: drive and D: drive together. So practically, it blended those two drives together, since im pretty sure i did everything correct on the clean installation but this is the result. Is there any ways to fix this situation WITHOUT going back to a restore point or without another clean installation of Windows from a bootable usb drive?
I have tried installing the Windows again from the settings of the Windows but it did not work and the problem still persists. Also, while i was doing the new install of the Windows, it threw me an error of the drive being GBT (or something along the lines) so i had to run cmd in the installer and clean disk 0 to make it work. and By doing that, it didnt show those 7-8 drives i had on the list in the installer but it actually deleted all of those 8 and left 1 standing so i clicked ''new'' and it made only one more that was called ''system memory'' or something along those lines.
My Computer is an Asus notebook x551ca.
There was a folder titled Windows.000 that was created after my previous upgrade to windows 10. This folder had all of my data on it and now it has completely disappeared. It feels like somebody has physically come into my home and gutted my hard drive. My C: properties say 1.9GB Free out of 2... WTF??
View 3 RepliesUpdated from win 7 64 bit to win 10 home edition around a month ago. Yesterday AM while editing pictures in photoshop lightroom my wireless mouse and keyboard quit responding. I have all pictures and editing software on my internal D drive (2terabyte) and my C drive is a 128gb solid state. Aftr pulling out and reinserting my wireless mouse and keyboard plug in on the tower and trying the control alt delete command which did nothing I turned off power at the tower. Upon reboot ( left for work because it was taking too long ) and upon return it was behaving ok until I realized my D drive was not reading in my hierarchy. Rebooted normally which took over an hour. Shut it down and unplugged it for an hour. Restarted same results no D drive. rebooted agn ((20 min or so boot time) this time in safe mode and still no D drive.

At first it was only missing about 20gb of space which I thought would be a system restore point however now I'm actually running out of storage. What is taking up my hard drive space or how to determine it?

However, when I go to the C:drive Windows.old I cannot locate my old files. I had a massive collection of music and video and want them all back. Am I missing something or looking in the wrong place? Inside Windows.old I have the following files Perflogs, Program Files, Program files (x86), Recovery, Users, WINDOWS. There is a file NTUSER.DAT.gu in the Windows.old-Users-Guest could all my files be in there?

i was planning on upgrading my W7 main machine this weekend to windows 10, at one point i did have the Downloaded Files to do the upgrade, but those files are now missing From the Folder.
I did clean up my C: in prep for the install, did i remove the Windows 10 Files., if so, How do i get them back.
Updates are up to date.
I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and everthing installed without problems exept when I start or restart with a usb flash drive inserted, I get "Boot manager is missing". If I remove the flash drive and select Control-Alt-Delete windows starts with no problems.I realize the Windows trying to boot to the usb and fails.
