Installation :: Computer Continuously Runs A Shell Script After Upgrading
Aug 28, 2015
My PC was running Windows 8.1 with no problem. I upgraded to Windows 10. Installation went fine, but right after I logged in to windows, it started to continuously run a shell script in background. A shell window pops up on the computer screen every few seconds for a fraction of a second.
This happens everytime the computer is powered on. Not only this is very disturbing, it also resets any text windows that are open at that time. So, if I am typing a password, it comes in the middle and wipes off the text from the text window.
I have tried disabling all startup programs and several running processes, nothing seem to solve the problem.
In my computer I use Windows 10 x64 and I have 6 GB of RAM installed. I face the problem of high usage of Ram from System process. Although I hear that this is something normal for Windows 10, this tends to freeze my PC or prompts me to close running programs although I do not have that much open. I updated all my drivers, I also tried everything proposed in various solutions around the web but the problem still exists. Could it be some update of Microsoft? A friend of mine running Windows 7 with 8GB RAM installed in his computer, faces the same problem the last weeks too.
My computer has been having a problem with locking up randomly. Hard reset is the only way to recover. I ran stress test on CPU, GPU, memory checker, Sea gate tools was never able to recreate the problem or find any issues with any hardware. I also swapped out video cards and still had the same issue. I also monitored temperatures and never had it get hot. But if i reboot into safe mode with networking windows never locks up.

After signing in on W10 sign in page, start up screen comes up but just keeps flashing, no icons on bottom task bar, curser has revolving blue circle, left click and right click has no effect. The only thing I can do is "control/alt/del to bring up the task manager. Tried rebooting numerous times to no avail. Tried disconnecting modem and computer and restarting, no luck. Appears that W10 is installed but seems to be hung up on start page. Unable to access anything. If I press the F1 key sometimes icons appear momentarily on the task bar but then they disappear and cannot bring them back up.
when I shutdown win 10 it goes through the shutdown process the screen goes off but the PC keeps running for 3 to 5 minutes it didn't do this before it has just started in the last week.
This just started happening only a few days ago, I'm not sure what might have caused it, but my laptop will suddenly disconnect from my wifi network. sometimes it won't disconnect, but just stop receiving/sending packets. I can tell this because suddenly my pages are stuck loading and skype is trying to reconnect, but nothing happens until I manually disconnect.
I have tried Troubleshooting. But I usually get "Your proxy setting could not be recognized" or something, even though I don't have any proxy settings.Uninstalling and then reinstalling the latest driver for my wifi card. Disabling power saving for the wifi card as talked about here. Everything mentioned on the Microsoft page here
Ethernet works fine. I can connect my phone to wifi and tether it to my laptop, so this shouldn't be a problem with the router.
I just have a old Ace Aspire V3-471G with Windows 10 installed . Everything is fine for 3 week . And then one day when i restart a laptop to install some app , I heard very noisy beeping sound . And then Windows 10 starting but then immediately restart again . It keep going on like that. I decide to install old Windows 7 and it start fine although if i connect USB , sometime it will beeping again.
Computer was fine till I accidentally hit the power off button while trying to find the model number. Now I can't make it start at all. I tried restart. I tried shutting off and restarting. I have tried system restore and that did not complete successfully. Now I tried go back to previous build and it has said "restarting" for 30 minutes....
My computer (Asus transformer Aio) is very slow, it takes long to open a window or browse internet, or wake up from the screen saver. The hard disk is working non stop, the light is on all the time and I can hear it.
I tried to clean it with windows tools (defrag), and ran CCleaner and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but they didn't find anything wrong. I just launched the Windows Defender complete analysis. The basic one says nothing wrong as well.
It seems like, I lost total control to computer since upgrading to windows 10, from 8. no access to C:, or admin rights, many errors like: no indexingwith search No downloading like Skype.
I'm having a myriad of issues after upgrading to Windows 10. I'll list them below along with what i've already done to resolve:
- Computer won't shut down.
Someone told me to disable something with the Gigabyte process on the Motherboard, didn't work. I click on shut down and the computer restarts instead.
- No sound except EXTREMELY low sound on headphones.
I've already tried installing the Windows 10 Realtek HD drivers but nothing seems to work. Eventually I somehow got the headphones to play sounds but is is incredibly low even fully maxed out. All devices show that they are "working" correctly. Also, when I test it, I can see the green bar moving as if sound is playing, but no sound in any speakers / headphones I hook to the computer comes out.
- Less important issue but the "search" bar in the bottom doesnt ever return any results, ever. It just sits there indefinitely.
Available free online, the Classic Shell Start Button corrected Windows 8's most glaring fault by giving you an excellent free Start Button. One of my Windows 10 laptops still has it.
You can still press the Windows key (bottom left corner, between the Ctrl and Alt keys) to get the Windows 10 Start Button.
Classic Shell works well with Windows 10 and is a possible last resort if you can't get the Windows 10 Start Button to work.
My PC is a home build with ASUS mother board, XENON CPU and 16 GB of RAM; it has run flawlessly for two years on Win 7 Pro; I changed to the "free" Win 10 dwnld and everything ran smoothly for past 3 months. Started up today and "no screen" with the typical bios info and nothing but darkness. I'm not sure if this is a virus security problem since my past experiences all had screen feed back with bios access prior to Windows starting. Assuming some villain attacked my PC at its heart by somehow messing up the bios set up, I tried restoring any lost or corrupted files using a flash drive with the ASUS ROM file on the MB disc as well as a latest downld. Still no relief. If not a security matter or a Win 10 fault, perhaps the mother board failed at some innocuous point which allows the board to function with all fans running and using power. I thought the NVidia adapter card could be at fault and installed a tested spare with no change in lack of video for the bios. Still have to test the power circuits and will let you know of any success.
I have been having issues with windows 10 since my fresh install 3/4 days ago. at random times my pc will just freeze if there is sound when it hangs it just continuously makes noise. this wont go away unless i hard restart the pc freezes mostly randomly, while gaming, browsing the web, installing software, just rebooted 3 seconds ago it will crash.

I tried: updated all my MB drivers (the lan drivers and sound actually had updates) Samsung 840 evo ssd firmware update updating windows (currently up to date) google'ing other error related things and trying those solutions chkdsk passed Results for memtest86+ 8 passes no errors
Im not sure if this is one problem or multiple.
By that i mean when i look at the event viewer I see multiple errors at and around the time of freezing most recently:::: Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App failed with error: The remote procedure call failed.... Also :::: Faulting application name: backgroundTaskHost.exe ......... And ::::: Metadata staging failed .........
since my OP it has occurred twice the 1st time 2 errors and 4 warnings errors ::Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0 ::Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070490 for container '{00000000-0000-0000-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFF}' the warnings are all related to loss of internet connection
Then crash #2 no errors only 4 warnings ::The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet. ::A connection to the Windows Update service could not be established. ::The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet. ::A connection to the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) could not be established. these warnings are the same warnings from the last crash

Since upgrading to Windows 10, why is my computer so slow to open a file, internet page even after doing a reboot, it is so slow and sometimes doesn't even open.
Is there a known way to create your own custom shell folders or "special folders?" Default shell folders are Documents, Pictures, Downloads, etc. The benefit of a shell folder is you can place it in a Users' Personal Folder, but have the location actually be in another location (even another drive).
An example of a program adding a shell folder would be Zune with "Podcasts."
A shell folder can be identified by its "Location" tab in the properties menu.
I'd like to create my own shell folders to things like "Books" or "Programs" etc. with kinds of files I make. Sort of like a library.
I run uninstall a program and the program disappears from the Uninstall or Change A Program menu but the program is still on the system and operates perfectly.
So my mail app was not opening links. So I looked up how to reinstall the mail app. Got to this: [URL]
I uninstalled the apps, then ran the powershell command: Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml”} to reinstall the mail app.
A bunch of red errors appeared in the prompt and now my start menu, notifications, onedrive,... won't work.
How do I restore these functions? sfc also does not work in Powershell but does work in CMD. Also, it does nothing.
I did something terrible to my tablet, I converted the partition from GPT to MBR in a desperate try to install windows 7.Now tablet is not reading any usb I plug in, and of course I cannot format disk again because it doesn't recognize anything, always booting at uefi shell.
