My DVD driver is not reading that a DVD is present. Windows Media Player says the drive is empty when it has a DVD inside. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver (E) but nothing has changed. I'd like to watch movies again.

View 5 RepliesI recently upgraded my windows 7 to windows 10. I have had everything activate properly. I then decided to do a fresh install of windows 10. I loaded boot media on my pc and everything went fine. Now with the fresh install of windows 10, at boot up, I get the option to choose windows 10 or windows 7. How to I change this so it ALWAYS defaults and boots windows 10? Considering I wiped my hard drive clean windows 7 shouldn't even be an option.
View 4 RepliesI'm using Windows 10 on my PC. I have been using it for about 3 months now and I regret installing it. There is so many problems with it. One of these problems is my disk drive will not play or run any disks I insert into it. In the file explorer, the disk drive is not present in the "Devices and Drives" section. However, It is still present in the Device manager.

View 1 RepliesI'm not sure if this is the right place or if it should possible be network related... but for some reason, the "Bluetooth" tile is back in my Action Center, but I have zero Bluetooth devices on or installed.
It was there after the latest build 10586, then I think the first Cumulative Update came out and it went away... I doubt there was any causal link between them... but now after a restart of the computer, the tile is back... and I don't know why.
I am on an iMac using Bootcamp & I have just upgraded from Win 7 to 10. Working GREAT! My only problem is Win 10 cannot read my 2 x WD 3Tb USB hard drives.
Error message" The parameter is incorrect". In Disk management it says the drives are active but RAW. I have tried the same two drives on another Win 10 & Win 7 machine & they are showing as NTFS & can be read, so no fault with the drives. I have tried changing the drive names etc but no change. So why does one machine refuse to read these?
I cannot find any solution apart from reformatting the drives which I do not want to do.
My computer can read .pdf files, and opens .doc files with something called craftydoc... But it fails to read a .txt

View 14 RepliesSo this past weekend I upgraded to Windows 10 from 7 and it went very well. I have a USB Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard and IntelliMouse 2.0 wireless mouse, both of which were prompted to install the software suit first thing after Win10 welcome desktop and worked perfectly.
However, I wanted to have a "clean" install, so today I did a PC Reset. Everything went well til the Win10 screen to enter regional info, when my USB KB/Mouse weren't detected/working. I still had an old PS/2 KB/Mouse that worked after a restart.
Here's the problem -
I used these to check my drivers - [URL] .... [URL] .....
and Intel said I didn't need any. I know the ports are good because my USB keyboard and mouse both light up during Intel Bios flash but go blank once
Windows 10 starts up. I'm thinking there was something changed in the registry during the PC Reset that made these controllers incomplete. I also couldn't find anything on
Intel's website to download these drivers either. They tripped these events -

Ever since I upgraded to W10, I get this problem wherein if I insert a disk in either of my two optical drivers, it would take Windows forever to read them and if I click them before they complete loading, Windows would become unresponsive and Explorer would crash. Mind you, it also happens even if the contents of the disk have already loaded. But even though the contents of the disk have showed, they all have blank white icons.I already tried sfc /scannow and they it reported no issues.
View 1 RepliesI did the update "circle" my computer completed it restarted and my monitors have been black and not reading my gpu now for about 4 hours. This is my second time tryingg the update. I have a nvidia 660 and made sure I had the right drivers installed before doing this. Is there something I can do to my tower to get the "asus" screen to pop up. So I can go through the the Bios menu? I have my integrated via plugged in and my had and Devi cord for my dual monitors.
View 1 RepliesSince upgrading to Windows 10 my PC has been unable to read any CD/DVD disc I put in. I hear it spinning so I doubt there's any problem with the CD/DVD Drive itself.
I was thinking it could be a driver issue, but there doesn't seem like there's any problems with it. (As usually there's a yellow ! mark if there seems to be a problem.) How to resolve the issue?
If one opens a multi-page article in Edge Reading View, how to get beyond page #1?? How or where does one change, turn pages?? I'll be darned if I have been able to find a way.. Must be there somewhere..

View 3 RepliesHaving an annoying problem where when I try and install a software package for a device the system hard locks during the driver installation phase. No BSOD, simply freezes at the same point during the installation. Doesn't do it for every device I've installed its only done it for my Avermedia C985 capture card and now for a D-Link USB WIFI stick.
I had to manually install the drivers for the capture card through the device manager. The USB stick is harder because I cant get the software separately to the driver so can't complete the installation.
I've tried disabling driver verification but that didn't work.
I upgraded to 10 again without doing anything I usually do before hand. I went to disable the option to not let windows update install drivers and theres no option. I went to advanced system settings, hardware, then device installation settings and theres only 2 options, yes (recommended) and no (your device might not work as expected)

View 8 RepliesSince upgrading my SATA DVD/CD RW will not work. I insert a disk the light come on showing it is reading and than the drive opens and the pop up box appears stating "Insert Disk" . So I cannot install any of my software. I have read that a lot of people are having the same problem.
I went into Device Manager and it show this device is working, the drivers show 2006. The Drive is TSST corp CDDCDW SH-203N. I am Dual booting and at least get some work done on the tried and true Win 7 Ult.
When I read an article from Start Menu (esp. News App) sometimes I'd like to share it thru email. Win 8 had that option but I don't see it in Win 10.

When I'm reading pdf files using adobe reader, the screen locks itself after 3 minutes as it is supposed to when I'm not using the pc. But I am using the pc and I'm scrolling through the pdf file using the touchpad and yet the screen still locks itself after 3 minutes. This doesn't happen if I'm watching a video or working with documents
Laptop running windows 10, build 10586 November official release. Problem existed before 10586.
I am working on creating a new master image to deploy windows 10 64 to a new of different models throughout our organization. Currently I am having difficulties getting the drivers to be "auto Detected"
The Sysprep command I am using is : sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /unattend:C:windowssystem32sysprep10answer.xml
When the PC boots after being sysprep it does not detect and install the drivers.
I have loaded the uncompressed drivers to C:windowsINF and created a folder called drivers. I set the permissions for pretty much anyone to have full control. If I manually point the driver install wizard to that folder they all install correctly. This previously worked in 7 32 bit without any thought.
I tried adding the driver path to Pass 2 and 5 in my answer file without any change.
