Installation :: Downgrading From Pro To Home Without Reinstalling?
Jan 7, 2016
My question is straightforward: is it possible to downgrade an edition from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Home without having to clean reinstall? I've been wondering why my Win10 wouldn't activate itself until I realized I installed the wrong edition.
So I did a clean install of windows 10 because my computer was running slow, but now I would like to downgrade back to windows and I don't have the "windows.old" because of the clean install.
My laptop was upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 in Dec 2015. The drive crashed last week and I am going to put a new one in. Will Win 10 find the COA from the previous install??
I freely upgraded to window 10 from window 8.1. I updated and running latest build of Window 10 and on activation page it say window is activated with digital entitlement . I had only one partition window C wheer window was installed and i created another partition F where i did put all my personal files. I want to clean drive C of PC where window and all applications are installed. Is there any programme to backup some applications i.e microsoft office and to remove all stuffs in drive C other than window 10. If not how to re-install window 10? If i use reset PC option in recovery then would i need any bootbale USB with window 10 on it? would it ask for any key to activate? I just want to reset C drive of PC with only activated window 10?
Prior to doing my Windows 10 upgrade on my HP Pavillion DVT7 2200 Notebook, I successfully created the 3 Recovery disks. Prior to that I was receiving messages that a hard drive failure is eminent and I should back up my files and replace the hard drive. My Windows 10 upgrade went fine and for most part I'm happy with it. My issue now is my XP Mode is not supported and I have lost a VM that is use run legacy software.
My question is when I run my system recovery is it going to roll me back to where I was before creating the Recovery disks? Will I have to reinstall all my software? I have ordered a replace HDD from HP and it will be arriving on Wednesday.
I have a new Asus desktop running win 8.1 home. I also have a copy of win 8 pro with a legal upgrade key. Is it possible to upgrade the win 8.1 home to win 8 pro and then to win 10 and still be activated. If so, How do I proceed.
My sons computer has a legit copy of windows home but for some reason the installed version was 32 bit, I noticed later that the machine was x64 bit processor.
I installed windows ten prior to noticing the version, I would like to change it to x64 bit, I read a few threads on converting, I downloaded the x64 ISO and burnt it to a DVD.
I am not concerned about wiping the drive clean everything needed has been removed and copied.
I read about skipping the key as it is being installed and that a key would be issued by Microsoft based on the hardware of the machine.
I am curious, would the key for the original 32 bit installation be the one that would be inserted in the x64 bit install or would a different key be issued?
i upgraded from win 7 ultimate to win 10 pro, but then downgraded back to 7 because my HP laptop was overheating all the time.My problem is that the WIFI show connected with internet access, but I can't open any website or do any download (tried many browsers, the wifi is workin on my phone, and the driver is installed).i am in urgent need to use my internet laptop.
I upgraded using the basic upgrade from Microsoft the other day. Last night I had to downgrade back to 7 as my laptop just wouldn't do a thing with stalling or crashing. I used the recovery guide and now it seems it's restoring and then when it's done the Dell pic comes up with f1 f2 options changes to the wind 10 sign and then changes again back to restoring your previous version of Windows.
I recently switched over to Windows 10 and the first issue I had was my graphics driver becoming non compatible, but this was fixed when I flashed my BIOS for my computer to the most recent release.
Everything went smooth for a few weeks, but now I can't connect to the internet due to a common problem with Windows 10.
I want to go back to 8.1, but wanted to make sure my current BIOS wasn't going to crash on me ...
I have Win 10 installed and activated on one computer - Asus z97 Deluxe/USB 3.1 mobo - but it ABSOLUTELY refuses to install on another computer - EVGA z97 Classified mobo. Regardless of the method - and I have tried all I know of - I ALWAYS get the same message: "Installation failed 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during Boot Operation".
All bootable win 10 USBs and DVDs refuse to boot. Out of desperation I even purchased Win 10 Home (which means I simply purchased a too expensive key. I was extremely disappointed that no different software came with with the purchase. Some of the solutions I have found are so difficult I might have been able to write a C++ program that would be much simpler.
When downgrading to windows 7 from windows 10 computer goes into a infinite loop then hours later my computer goes into system repair. I have a hp compaq 6910p 32 gb 2000 MHz thats from 2009 with no disk. My pc will not start up every time I go to start windows normally i get the bdos, everytime i try to go into safe mode the Bdos comes up still. I tried some of the methods I've seen on this website all day, none of them worked.
there is one thing I do not unmderstand when creating a USB Stick using the Media Creation Tool: I can have both flavors, i.e. x64 and x86 on one Stick, but not Home and Pro, why? I thought this is simply a flag that can be set.
My task: I have to update several PCs with one USB Stick, running former versions of Windows of all kinds, i.e 32 and 64 Bit, but also Home and Pro. Do I really need to create two sticks, one with Home, one with Pro, or can I change that somehow in a configuration file on the stick?
I have BizSpark, and I'd like to upgrade my Windows 10 Home computer to the Pro version. I downloaded the "Multiple Versions" ISO from MSDN, but when I run it from within Windows, it only lets me re-install the Home edition. How do I upgrade without doing a clean install?
I upgraded from win 7 ultimate to win 10 pro, but then downgraded back to 7 because my HP laptop was overheating all the time.
My problem is that the WIFI show connected with internet access, but I can't open any website or do any download (tried many browsers, the wifi is workin on my phone, and the driver is installed and rechecked, and did troubleshooting).
I just build a new machine with a Gigabyte B85M-D3H mobo, Intel Pentium G3258 CPU, 4GB Corsair Value Select DDR3 1333 and 120GB Samsung EVO SSD. I now want to clean install Windows 10 Home (64-bit) from USB drive (created with media creation tool), but the machine is stuck in boot loop. The Windows logo appears for a few seconds and then the machine reboots, I don't have clue where in the boot process something goes wrong.
I already tried with a usb stick with Windows 8 installation files and this starts without issues. I made sure Fast boot en secure boot were disabled but without success. Also already reset the BIOS with optimized settings.
The stick boots till the first screen on different other machines.
I'm currently running windows 10 on a normal HDD, and I just got an SSD. My question is quite simple: If I press the "Reset this PC" on the settings menu, can I pick the drive where I install? Or it just defaults to the old HDD, where it is installed?
Now it's completely gone and I can't find a way to reinstall it. There is no available download online. I tried using Add-AppxPackage -register "C:Program FilesWindowsApps<PackageFullName>" -DisableDevelopmentMode command, but it seems that the files are completely wiped out.
So I currently have windows 10, build 10162, and i like the OS X, especially since i do video editing, and i love the workflow. The problem is, everything on my PC is optimized for windows, and some things wouldnt work on a mac, and I didn't want to spend the money on a mac. I know its possible to dual boot some OS's so I want to know if theres a way I can just add an OS to my current pc. I have an extra HDD that i could put it on. And i want to put Yosemite on it, and i also have an intel CPU, nvidia card, which i believe is necessary for a hackintosh.
I have a Windows 10 Pro 64 workstation that is fully up-to-date with all the latest security patches. It has Malwarebytes Home Premium installed and a full scan indicates that I have NO vermin in residence. Similarly, a full scan using Windows Defender also indicates that I have no vermin in residence.
My problem is that regardless of what I use to UNinstall LibreOffice v4.4.6.3 (Control PanelPrograms & Features, CCleanerUninstaller, Revo Uninstaller, or IOBit Uninstaller), it manages to reinstall itself upon system restart.
I'm having an incredibly frustrating problem with my Windows 10 laptop. The laptop in question is a Clevo P650SE with the i7-4720HQ and GTX 970M. I reinstalled Windows last week and now i can't get rid of this damn Realtek driver. Whenever i uninstall the Realtek software from Control Panel, it comes straight back after a reboot.
A lot of websites suggest heading into the 'Device Installation Settings' and hitting 'No (Your device might not work as expected)' but this has no effect towards the issue. On previous builds of Windows 10 this worked fine, so i'm not sure what to do next.
IF needed .... How to temporarily prevent a Windows or driver update from reinstalling in Windows 10
'Symptoms: In Windows 10, your device is always kept up to date with the latest features and fixes. Updates and drivers are installed automatically, with no need to select which updates are needed or not needed. In rare cases, a specific driver or update might temporarily cause issues with your device, and in this case you will need a way to prevent the problematic driver or update from reinstalling automatically the next time Windows Updates are installed.'
