Installation :: Endless Start Loop
Jul 4, 2015
Have just installed 10 on a spare drive and installed that drive into my Sandy Bridge and the machine is now going through an endless loop of start up.
I can hear it make some sort of noise as if something wants to go and I have again tried the machine with the old 7 install drive and the same thing is happening.
The other thing is I am not getting a RAM beep or the BIOS to come up on the Gigabyte board (DEL) have jumpered the reset pins for the BIOS but still no BIOS or for that matter any graphics.

Ok so basically, after successfully installing windows 10 from windows 7, I decided to clean my hard drive and reset windows because I deleted my "edge" and thus my apps were not working. The problem then started, the reset went fine until it reached 64% and read "configuring settings" then it just restarted my PC and went in a loop like this;
>startup
>bios screen (Asus/Intel)
>monitor turns off
>monitor turns back on
>blue win10 logo and loading circle
>black screen for 5-10 secs
>install screen displaying 64%
>restarts and loops

I ran the window 10 installation last night on my Lenovo Y50 laptop. Today it is stuck in an endless loop of trying to Preparing Automatic Repair, diagnosing PCs and wanting to restart. I can't get past the limited choice of options to actually do anything useful. I just want to get rid of the thing and go back to Window 8. I am to computer stupid to know how do this. I only recently got the laptop. I don't have a recovery disk.

I can't even get past it.

I am currently unable to get to my desktop. My system appear to be in an endless loop of rebooting. I have tried a lot and no progress. Here's what I tried: Safe modeSafe mode with network(both safe mode bring me back to the endless loop)System repair(can't repair)Restart my computer(well, do nothing)Changing boot priority(do nothing)Let it run for 30 min(nothing)I reached the 3 first option by shutting down my computer 3times to get Windows to the repair option then to advanced settings. I don't have access to another computer.
Here's what it look like: Open my computerShow Bios pageShow blue window logo with a black backgroundShow 1sec a black screenShow a bigger blue window icon telling me it's gonna restartStep 2 to 4 againShow a bigger blue windows icon.

I was given an error message on reboot and followed a guide to editing the registry to restart the download. The download did not restart however, and my windows 10 is stuck in an endless loop of rebooting. I have downloaded a copy of windows 10 and put it onto a USB, but when I try to boot from USB it takes me back to the BIOS. The BIOS are 'Aptio Setup Utility 2011', and don't seem to allow me to change from UEFI boot to LEGACY boot, although the option is apparently there. Why the USB boot is not working correctly and how to make it do so, I am more than happy to reformat the computer but at this moment in time it's useless. The computer is an Alienware x51 from 2011. As previously mentioned the operating system the PC is trying to boot (or install) is windows 10.

Recently upgraded my Toshiba Satellite NB 10A-laptop from Windows 8.1 to Win 10 and have been logging in via my Hotmail account. Went to settings to set up Local Account, completed the password settings. Then had the choice to Sign Off or Cancel. Chose Sign Off (thinking Cancel would void my new Local Account) and now, for many hours, my laptop is locked into an endless loop of Signing Off.

OS - Windows 10 (64 Bit)
RAM - 8gb
CPU - Intel Core i5 3.3Ghz
Vid Card - Nvidia GeForce GTX 570
Yesterday I had deleted a Word document by mistake, so I used System Restore to try and get it back. System Restore told me NOT to turn off the PC whilst it was running, and next thing I know after it got halfway through my PC blue screened and I had to restart. Now every time I load up the PC it does the following...
It loads up to the Windows 10 icon > After a few seconds it says 'Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart' with the error code 0xc000021a > It then restarts itself but THIS time it tries to start Windows Automatic Repair instead > It then says 'Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC', and gives me the option to click Restart or Advanced Options. This is where I'm having the most trouble, as the mouse and keyboard don't seem to be working at all on this screen so I can't even click any of the options. It's like the screen has frozen/crashed > The only way off this is to then force a restart using the power button on the PC.
The above just keeps carrying on in a loop every time I turn on the PC now. I still have access to the BIOS where my mouse and keyboard DO work.

About a minute after starting up, my desktop begins to start flashing to black and coming back in a continuous loop. The file explorer, however is completely unaffected. Using Google I have found that this occurred back in the technical previews of Windows 10 as well, but a new update from Windows fixed the issue. I can not get the explorer stable long enough to even check Windows Update. I have also run sfc /scannow and it said the integrity of my system is fine.

I tried to update my Windows 8.1 installation on my Thinkpad T61p to Windows 10. It went smoothly until it finished copying the files (75% complete). It is now rebooting in an endless loop (reboot -> Windows logo with spinning circle -> black screen -> Windows logo with spinning circle -> 75% complete message -> reboot) and I don't know what is causing the problem. I have installed the latest BIOS and tried various changes to BIOS settings with no effect. Does the installer write any kind of diagnostic log that would tell me the reason for the reboot loop?

I recently upgraded my Windows 7 PC to Windows 10 using Windows Update. The whole process was smooth. I never really ran into any problem. Because the PC is so relatively old, I decided to delete all files and reinstall windows 10 using the windows 10 feature 'Reset This PC' to start fresh and theoretically faster. During the reset when Windows is installing my drivers, I noticed that the screen is plain black - no mouse pointer and the amount of reset finished(in percentage) is not also shown. The screen is just plain black. I am pretty sure that both the monitor and CPU is on. I've tried waiting for atleast an hour. I turned my pc's monitor on and off - nothing happened. So I have to resort to hard reset/reboot coz I cannot really see anything on my screen.
When I turned the power of the CPU back, it gave me the error 'The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. To install Windows, click ok to restart the computer and restart the installation'. I pressed OK but after restarting, it gave me the same error over and over again. I tried the solution in this website ( during installation of windows | HERESJAKEN), and it got rid of the error. However, I am stuck yet again in a loop that continues to just restart my PC when they reach the screen that tells you how much of the reset is finished, in my case, im stuck at 64% of the reset. That screen is shown for like merely 2 seconds, then the PC will just restart again, then show the "Reset progress screen" again for 2 seconds then PC will just restart again, over and over. I think the only solution is to start the reset of the PC again, but I dont know how.

My installation is stuck in a reset loop. The Win 10 Ready to Install came up, so I clicked Start and it rebooted, back to the login screen, and then Windows Update came up saying it needed to Restart Now. After a couple of minutes the Win 10 Ready screen comes up again. I've rebooted about 20 times and get to the same point every time.

my computer which is a HP Envy 700, operating on windows 10. I think it's 64 bit but I'm not 100% sure.Everything has been fine until I switched it on this morning. I switched it on then went off somewhere, came back to see it was running a disc check and then I got a blue screen saying my computer had ran in to a problem and needed to restart.
It goes into a loop, of not being able to start up. It won't even load in safe mode. I've tried a system restore but the only date it will reset to is the day before. This fails, it says the restore file is damaged or something.
My housemate looked at it, only had him for an hr before he had to go out but he pressed a key as the computer was starting up, and set something so that the computer would start up using(?) a USB, on this USB he put an installation file for windows 10. He tried to run a repair off this USB and tried to run the repair (which would not delete my files). Annoyingly this didn't work, I've lost the page, but it said in order to do this, youd have to run windows normally. Which we can't do.He says the last thing he can try when he gets back is to install Linux and save the files I want to keep using that, and then format the computer. It didn't sound like he thought that would work though.

My windows 7 PC was hard to start and restart and I needed to try 10 times or more before it worked (then I didn't restart it for days).
I managed to upgrade it to Windows 10 hoping that it will cure the problem BUT still it is a problem to start.
I checked everything and used every tool possible on windows 7 and windows 10 but nothing worked. (ccleaner and others failed)
So now I have a windows 10 PC that doesn't want to start easily.
After upgrade to windows 10 I GUESS that all driver files have been changed ?what else could it be ?

Earlier this afternoon I decided to reset Windows 10 as I had a problem with BSOD BAD_POOL_CALLING over and over again. I booted in Safe Mode, went to Advanced Options and so on. It wasn't a factory-new reset, just the one that removes all files, app data, etc. I left it for a while and came back to find it hadn't worked; there was an error message that read 'There was a problem whilst restarting your PC'. I tried again and the error message appeared again. Because of this, I decided to exit and continue to Windows 10 and see if it had done anything.
Now, when I try to boot my PC up, the circle that usually rotates on the 'Zoostorm' screen when loading doesn't appear. The PC then reboots and tries again, again and again, but with no success. I have tried turning off and on, and even unplugging everything, however nothing seems to work. My PC is now stuck in a continuous reboot loop and won't load. Unfortunately, I can't press F8 or Shift + F8 when booting to start Safe Mode. I have never made a recovery drive for Windows 10 and I don't think my computer came with a repair disk.

Recently, I purchased a Microsoft Surface 3. From the day I got the tablet, it has been having freezing problems that seem to progressively get worse and worse. Today, I couldn't go two minutes on my Surface without having to restart it.
I would prefer to return the product, but since I can't, I decided to first try to update it. The update kept getting frozen, encountered an error or would just be stuck at 0%.
After exhausting all the other options I knew off, I quickly moved what little files that I had off of my tablet and then performed a factory reset.
The factory reset got stuck at 99%. And I don't mean that it just was there for a few hours--no, the screen literally froze. So I restarted the tablet again, which brought me to a screen that says, "Choose an Operating System" that has two options. Both options are "Windows 10 on volume 3." There seems to be no distinction between them. But the problem is that if I click one, and it doesn't matter which one, or if I just let the tablet automatically run on one of them, it loads for a few seconds with the "Surface" screen, and then immediately loops back to the same "Choose an Operating System."

Win 7 user here, wanting to dual boot with Windows 10 preview (on a different partition).
So I made a Win 10 usb boot disc, and it installed it fine. Played around with the new Windows for a few mins, whilst it downloaded an update, and after installing the update, it said it needs to restart, naturally. So I did.
However, since then, the PC keeps restarting, showing a Windows 10 logo, and below that is the text, "preparing automatic repair". Then it just resets, and goes in this endless loop.
Why is this happening, and how do I resolve it?

I did an in place upgrade of Windows 7 using a USB key made with the tool Microsoft put out. I chose not to download updates during the install, so after the initial boot, Windows started downloading updates. I reinstalled the latest nVidia drivers/Geforce Experience as well. During the next boot cycle, at some point explorer crashed and the screen flashed black, at which point that process repeats forever. I let it go over an hour just to see what would happen. URL...
The suggestion on that site is to disable 2 Windows Services: Problem Reports and Solution Control Panel Support and Windows Error Report Service. This didn't work for me, though it appears to have worked for many others. The culprit for me was Apple's iCloud service. As the taskbar was being populated, this task would load and throw an error message about logging in, at which point the crash loop began. Uninstalling this program solved the issue for me.

Lenovo ThinkCentre, 32bit was running fine on Windows 7 Home. The upgrade to Win 10 downloaded fine and started installing until the final bit Settings etc when there was a brief error "KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED" without any further info. No codes, numbers or anything else. Installation continued until 97% and then started rebooting in a loop for several hours already.
I'd prefer to finish the installation properly, but otherwise would like to roll back to Win 7 and have a usable machine with all data and programs intact.

I just build a new machine with a Gigabyte B85M-D3H mobo, Intel Pentium G3258 CPU, 4GB Corsair Value Select DDR3 1333 and 120GB Samsung EVO SSD. I now want to clean install Windows 10 Home (64-bit) from USB drive (created with media creation tool), but the machine is stuck in boot loop. The Windows logo appears for a few seconds and then the machine reboots, I don't have clue where in the boot process something goes wrong.
I already tried with a usb stick with Windows 8 installation files and this starts without issues. I made sure Fast boot en secure boot were disabled but without success. Also already reset the BIOS with optimized settings.
The stick boots till the first screen on different other machines.

My Windows 10 updated last night with the cryptic message "Your files are Safe" update. Then none of my programs would open.
When i rebooted I became stuck in an endless reboot cycle. I don't know how to get out of the cycle.
I get to the login page then the laptop automatically reboots itself if i don't try login. If I try to login it also reboots. So i can't get past the initial login page.

Both of the last two cumulative updates have resulted in the endless loading circles with the solid color background, right before the login textbox. Before I was restoring to before the update to fix the problem. I also used the show/hide update tool to prevent the update from installing again. But yesterday's cumulative update has the same problem. Any way to fix it without reinstalling windows? If I wait 8 hours or so, I can usually log in, though the screen locking after 15 minutes has the same issue.
I can remote desktop in from an android tablet.I can press ctrl alt del and restart from the endless loading screen.I have tried the dism and sfc commands, neither of which worked.I have also tried turning off fast boot and disabling my video cards.
