I'm trying to make a 10 Pro 10586 image with MDT 2013 Update 1 and I cannot use the ISO I got from the Media Creation Tool. I realized this is because the ISO now uses a install.esd instead of install.wim; I read that it is possible to extract the .wim from a ESD file...
I'm on Win 10 pro with all the updates installed. I just did a clean install today think something went wrong but the problem has not stopped. The system is pretty much like new with barely any programs installed and the problem still happens. I'm using Winrar 5.21. When I try to extract the 6GB rar file, the system suddenly restarts. Also when I'm trying to build previews/analyse a large amount of files in Adobe lightroom the same thing happens. I'm assuming that any app using a lot of RAM/CPU will exhibit this issue. I suspect I have a hardware RAM or CPU issue and that it may have gone bad. How do I check my hardware first? I'm certain it isn't a windows issue because the moment the os booted to the desktop itself I check the rar file extract and the computer abruptly restarted.
My daughter backed up her computer on an external drive. I would like to extract some picture files that she saved on her computer for me several weeks ago, but I do not want the backup file to open up on my own computer. Her computer is being shipped in for repairs.
Is there a way that I can access the files without actually opening up that whole backup file? When I click on the image, it does not give me an option to "view files and folders".
I have a Windows 8.1 PC with UEFI BIOS. I am going to upgrade this Windows with Windows 10. I downloaded the ISO because recently I formatted this PC so inorder to get the free upgrade is a long way! Unfortunately, the ISO I downloaded is an All-In-One type and is about 4.8GB, So for the UEFI to boot the flash drive, it needs to be FAT-32 but since the install.wim is more than 4GB, that won't work. So instead of downloading another x64 bit ISO which would take about a day in our area. I need to know if I can extract a single version i.e. Windows 10 Single Language x64 from the All-in-One ISO?
Just got a new Asus laptop - it came with windows 10 home version installed. There was also some unneeded software installed so I am wondering if I can extract Windows 10 and the necessary drivers to an external drive and then reformat & install from that....? (I have the product id and key)
I do not have windows 10 (yet) so I can't test this out. I developed software that needs to be extracted. The folder that is extracted has another folder in it along with a Flash player. The Flash player needs to remain in the folder along with the folder containing the files because of the way the pathways are structured. My customers are having trouble because if they choose extract all the files are all extracted separately. The folder structure is not preserved. How can I give instructions on what appears to be compressed folder options so that the folder structure is preserved.
I recently upgraded my system to Window 10 from 7. But the printer-HP LaserJet M2727nf- failed to operate, even after reinstalling the printer software. Nor I could extract from winzip files. I reverted back to Window 7. All fine now.
I installed windows 10 technical preview yesterday . I found a problem with system restore. It goes through everything normally but after it reboots I get an error. In the details it says:
System restore failed to extract the original copy of the directory from the restore point. Source: %ProgramFiles%WindowsApps Destination: Appxstaging An unspecified error occurred during system restore. (0x80070057)
I download a Windows 10 ISO File from [Windows 10 ISO Download] and made a dvd, can I use this on any computer now or only on mine where it was created?
Also, how do I remove the windows notice to download and install win 10?
I've recently been trying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I have tried to use the installer provided by Microsoft but the installer hangs on Checking For Updates. This doesn't end and I cannot pass it. I cannot use windows update to get the update as it just keeps searching for hours on end. I have tried to install the OS from USB and click 'Upgrade the System' but the OS will not activate; I guess it does not count as upgrading my OS so the key is not registered.
I have tried following this (Windows 10 - Upgrade Installation) and I have downloaded the ISO stated in Step 6 using option 1 (Windows 10 ISO Download) but then when I get to Step 7 #8, the ISO does not have Setup.exe?
I would like to do a clean install I have downloaded windows10 .iso free version file from creation tool to DVD is the file bootable. If not how do I make a bootable DVD or USB from the downloaded.
I have a problem with downloading Windows 10 Pro .ISO file. I tried to download it two times but every time media creation tool exits suddenly when it gets 98% without any error message or something! and the process in task manager is killed automatically,
I received a notice that Windows 10 has started to download on my desktop. I do not want to install it now. How can I burn it to a ISO file (DVD) for a later installation? My current OS is Windows 7 Ultimate.
I have Windows 10 media on a flash drive, and I was going to load it onto my other laptop that had no OS on it. I got to a screen that had said "Setup is Starting". Then, a box popped up saying," Windows cannot open the required file D:Sourcesinstall.wim. Make sure all files required for installation are available", I checked and the file is there, but I can't continue with the installation.
Since Windows 10 automatically updated last weekend I have been unable to right click on any files. The little blue circle just keeps spinning round. As my computer is only 6 weeks old I have contacted the support line twice, each time resulting in an hour and a half phone call. They don't seem to know what it is, they have gone back to a date before 'the event' but it happened again. I only have very basic knowledge of computers and am not getting anywhere.
I waited for Windows 10 to get rid of Windows .old and Windows.~BT folders but it never happened. If the scheduled task for disk cleanup is supposed to do it I discovered the task will only run on my laptop when I am plugged into power and only if the system is idle. That does not happen very often on this laptop.
So I decided to use the disk cleanup app built into Windows to remove previous operating systems and installation files. It got rid of the Windows.~BT folder and emptied the Windows.old file of everything except one folder within Windows.old for something in folder AMD64_prnLx00.inf..... and file Lxktptprc.dll.mui. I can not delete or rename it and I have the correct privileges. This laptop has dual boot with Windows 8.1 on one side and Windows 10 now on the other. Windows 10 upgraded my W7Pro side over a month ago.
I got all my space back but would like to know if there is a way to finally remove the Windows.old folder.
I noticed that an encrypted esd file of Windows 10 always has the "Windows Setup Media", "Microsoft Windows PE" and "Microsoft Windows Setup" volume images.
What are these volume images? What are their differences?
From what I've read on Windows 10 upgrade and updates it appears to be a huge file, about how much time should I expect ti to take for a complete download?
Using a generic machine, Intel core i5 processor, 3.4ghz, 6mb quad core, Asus P8B75-V M/B. 4GB Ram.
Each time I'm ready to hit the UPGRADE button I read another post which gives me pause and then wait for another "positive" post. Have a clone disk and image disk - so I guess we should be set.
I installed Office 2016 and a random file appeared directly on the C drive in no folder. The file is called, "WindowsMSUIGHUB.tt2". know what this file is and if it's just some temporary file I'm safe to remove? I don't really want this file here as it looks ugly but I don't want to remove if it it's required for anything.
What kind of file types are accepted in Windows 10 for mobile for installation? Can it install android APK files or just the appx files? And should the apps be downloaded only from store? Or they can be downloaded or taken from other devices?
I grabbed the install.esd from the upgrade from 11102. Created an ISO using DVD and USB. However, I get this "setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file". Tried going back to 11102 and repeated the process three time. Still same thing. (I have grabbed the install.esd file before and after the installation but it didn't make a difference. I'm trying to do a clean install by the way. Otherwise I just have to live with the updated OS.
Just upgraded from windows 7 pro to windows 10 Pro.
The upgrade appears to have gone well except for the error which I will describe below.
The symptoms: When attempting to install any software which requires administrator privileges, I am getting one of two errors.
More specifically, I was attempting to install "Speccy" to get more information about my hardware. I double clicked the installer and immediately received the following error: [URL] ....
I attempted a reboot, and then after that, I did a disk cleanup and basically checked everything including the previous versions of windows. Then I rebooted again and have still received the same error.
Now when attempting to install some other software I have either received the error I show above, OR I will sometimes get the following error: [URL] ....
I have done a bunch of googling and have found zero information about those errors or how to fix them, besides "reinstall windows" ...
I REALLY don't want to re-install windows, and would like to fix this problem without wiping out my current installation.
