My computer is trying to install Update to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586, but can't. It claims there is no system reserved partition, but there is. This computer was upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, and immediately after doing that I installed a Samsung SSD and migrated the system to it using the software that came with the SSD. The migration went well and I've been using Windows 10 for months.
All of a sudden, when trying to do some updates it claims it cannot update the system reserved partition. The partition is there, it's 100MB in size. So I tried booting from the install CD, which I burned to do the upgrade (so I know it's a good disc). My computer recognizes there's a disc in the DVD drive, but no matter how I set the bios boot order it will not boot from the DVD, so I can't do a repair on the SSD.

I have been trying for hours to install windows 10 home on my newly built PC but i can't because there is a problem. I bought the usb version since i don't have an optical drive bay.
The problem: I can start the setup, but when i launch the installation my pc suddenly restarts and boots the usb again, so i get back at the 32/64 bit selection screen. This happens when i click "next" after choosing my drive (see included video). The drive i'm using is a Samsung 850 EVO SSD.
I have tried numerous things to fix it including: removing the ram (2x8GB) and putting it back, trying with one ram stick, removing the graphics card and use the integrated graphics card, use different usb ports, use different sata ports, removing the hdd (i can't even start the setup with the hdd plugged in).
I also downloaded Windows 10 from the official website and put it on an other usb stick, the same problem occurs.
I even tried with Ubuntu and the same problem happens!! When i launch the installation my pc reboots and the setup restarts!
I have made a video showing what happens (win 10): OS installation problem - YouTube
I also made a video that shows my BIOS: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 BIOS - YouTube

Basically, I got fed up with the daily problems from doing an "upgrade" from Win8.1 to Win10TP 32-bit and decided to install afresh from the latest ISO. Since I have a 64-bit processor and 8GB of memory (now) I thought I'd try the 64-bit version.
Booted from the USB stick, chose Install, clicked next, saw the drive with the formatted NTFS primary partition (empty) for Win10 and select that ...
And got the dreaded "we couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. See the setup log files".
OK...
So, I removed the partition, leaving an unallocated drive, and using the "New" icon, created a new one. That appeared to go OK. Selected it -- and got the same error message again!
Went through the same stuff with the 32-bit version -- same sequence, same error messages.
So, I have two questions:
1) When you're in the installer, how do you look at the setup log files to see the detail messages?
2) What is the "secret" to installing Win10 on an SSD? (Note, I had Win8 install just fine to this same SSD (Crucial 120GB) and move Win8.1 to a larger SSD when I bought a new one. So, I know this SSD works OK.
I ran into this same bunch of problems with the original Win10TP install -- which is why I ended up cloning Win8.1 to this SSD and then doing an "upgrade". But this time, I want to do a clean install...

I made an ISO from a 10532 upgrade to install it on to another pc and here is what happens. Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style. OK, so I change my disk to MBR and get the same problem only this time it tells me the selected disk is of the MBR style. Either way it won't install. What do I do now???? ?

I have a HP Pavilion 23 all in one PC (23-f221ea) and the 1TB hard disk is getting rather full.. I want to change for say a 4TB drive, I know that I can't clone my 1TB drive to the 4TB drive using something like Acronis as max is 2TB and the new 4TB drive will have to be GPT formatted. I have already updated my PC to W10 with the ISO disk I made from MS update.. Can I install the larger disk GPT formatted and install with the ISO disk I made??? Or will I have to start all again and install with Win8/8.1 first..??

I used the media installation tool to download a Windows 10 ISO file on a USB, but when I checked the guide it said that I'll have to burn it to a DVD. Can't I just use winRAR or Daimon Tools to open it?
If I install it using the ISO on a Windows 7 Ultimate x32 but without SP1 installed, will it ask me for a serial key?

I have downloaded the windows 10 CD boot from here Windows 10 i have windows 8.1 home so i downloaded windows 10 home. And when i was doing the installation. it was asking me for my Product key. I typed in my Product key but it said " it did not recognize my Product key" So i quit the installation. I was wondering why it did not recognize my product key when we have the upgrade for free. Im doing a clean install on a new SSD I just bought. The Samsung 850 EVO. I have a USB flash drive that I use to try to install Win 10 and I cannot get it to work. I get to the install screen and when it says it need to reboot it won't reboot back into the Windows installer. All I get is this when it reboots. (See attached picture) I have tried after the restart to boot into the SSD and the flash drive. I get the same message as mentioned before if I reboot into the SSD, and if I reboot into the Flash drive it just restarts the whole installation process. I also can see in the installation program that the OS has taken space up on the SSD even though I cannot boot from it.

I have successfully upgraded from win 7 to win 10 but i would like to do a fresh install as its been years since i have and would like to start from fresh.
I made the x64 DVD from the MS installation media creation tool.
I run the setup.exe from the disc and it starts downloading updates goes through the processes but after 1 hour or so a message comes up saying installation has failed.
I looked at you 'Clean install' guide and this relates to USB not DVD or is the process the same?
Should i be booting from the DVD rather then running the setup.exe
I did try but my pc restarts and just loads normally with out actually booting via DVD

As Win 10 automatically names your PC to some random number, all net related services like one drive, your MS account, Steam and Chrome all see your PC as that name. So then if you want to change your PC, you then have to go around to all the net services and remove the 'old' PC and let it discover or add your 'new' PC.

I just downloaded Win10_English_x32.iso from Microsoft. I intend to install it on a new system with no prior OS, so I'll be purchasing a Windows 10 Home license from MS.
Will the following steps work:
Booting from a DVD created from the ISO. Install using product key purchased from Microsoft.

I'm about to do a clean install of Windows 10 pro 64bit on to a new SSD I just received in the mail and wondering how I will be able to activate it? I originally did an upgrade from Win7 Pro to Win10 pro and then a clean install from there back when Win10 pro first became available. I read that I can use the Windows Key on the back of my laptop but I'm not sure that will work because it's a whole new SSD.

A few days ago I got a new Win8.1 laptop that I smoothly upgraded to Win10. This laptop now shows as being registered with Microsoft. I just now purchased a 250GB SSD that will arrive in a week or so. I want to install Win10 on this new drive. A friend just gave me a DVD burned with the Win10 ISO. When I get my new drive I'll install it into the laptop. Then I'll boot from the DVD and (hopefully) do a *clean* install of Win10. And (hopefully) Microsoft will recognize the laptop as already officially registered. Will this plan work? Am I missing anything important? Do I need to get all the drivers first? Or will the upgrade process grab all the needed drivers? My friend said when he did this process it got all the needed drivers. I already did a backup System Image of Win10 to an external hard drive, and I made a System Recovery DVD. There's no personal files or documents on the existing Win10 drive.

PC specs:
Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H
AMD A8 APU
kingston v300 SSD 120gb
WD HDD 1tb
I recently built this system for a family member as a low budget media/gaming pc. This was originally setup with windows 10 on the 1tb main drive, so I know everything works. Now we decided to put an ssd in as a boot drive, and I cant seem to get it working.I wasn't able to clone the drive due to inconsistent sector sizes between the drives.
I've finally completed the install on the drive after many failed attempts but when I try to boot from it the message reads "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device".
