I have the following entries in my system start up:
Windows 10
Windows 10
Windows 7
How do I remove the last two entries so startup just shows one Windows 10 only or just boots right into Windows 10 without a start screen ?
I have only win10 installed, and one system drive. By accident I boot from win8 dvd, and now win8 appears in boot menu. I tried to remove it in msconfig, deleted and rebooted, but it reappears.
Also I tried to add safemode options to boot menu, I followed tutorial and used command prompt and bcdedit, safemode option appears in boot menu but it doesnt work, it only reset my machine and boot to win10, it doesn't go to safemode. This is how bootmenu look, but only win10 works.
How to remove all other items except win10, for good?
msconfig dont work as they reappear.
How to add safemode item, so it can really work?
I use my Favorites Bar in IE11 to hold a boatload full of links. I think it is easier to click on the >> and go to a new link than clicking on the Star to go to a new link.
I decided to use the Favorites bar in EDGE but I forgot that you cannot reorder the entries to put what I consider my most used favorites at the front of the Favorites bar. So I thought I would delete the Favorites Bar folder from my Favorites and create a new one from scratch with my most used favorites. I followed the links to get to the Favorites but the Favorites Bar folder is not there! Where it went? Can I delete it if I find it or at least delete all but the entries I want? Or if those options are not available, how I can delete all of the entries in my Favorites bar without having to do them one at a time?
I've got two standard profiles and one administrator profile on my lap top.
Win+X works for the standard profiles , but not for the administrator profile. How come?
I have checked that the winx files are where they should be in (<administrator>/appdata/local/Microsoft/Windows/winx)
Could they be corrupted? Could I just copy the files from one of the standard profiles that works, to my administrator profile? Would that solve it?

The problem is, everything on my PC is optimized for windows, and some things wouldnt work on a mac, and i didnt want to spend the money on a mac. I know its possible to dualboot some OS's so i want to know if theres a way i can just add an OS to my current pc. I have an extra HDD that i could put it on. And i want to put Yosemite on it, and i also have an intel CPU, nvidia card, which i believe is necessary for a hackintosh.
View 1 RepliesI am dual booting Windows 10 and Windows 8.1. Each operating system is on a separate physical solid state drive. My default is Windows 10. The Windows 10 OS was installed on the drive that originally contained Windows 7 when I dual booted Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. I don't have drive partitions to deal with as each operating system is on a separate physical drive.
Now I would like to remove the dual boot by removing Windows 8.1, leaving just Windows 10. That will leave me with an unused SDD.
When I am in Windows 10, the default OS, the msconfig Boot section shows Windows 10 as the default, as it should. To remove the dual boot, can I just Delete Windows 8.1 from the Boot section of msconfig and make the setting permanent?

When I plug in a USB memory stick OR a USB external drive - the device shows twice in the directory. As I type this, I have a USB external hard drive plugged in. The directory list shows 2 entries 'E Drive' - when both are expanded, each has full details of the disks content!

My mother board (ms-7788) originally came with Windows 7 and its own bios. I now can't access the original bios and the uefi gives me no boot from option.
i got a new hard drive and installed it few days ago and when i boot up, it asks me every time, which OS i want to boot up. This gets annoying since I only have 1 and I can't find the boot.ini anywhere and websites don't specify how to remove an OS from the boot up screen.

I want to disable Secure Boot and then do a Clean Install of windows 10.
I recently (clean) installed Windows 10 on a new SSD. Windows 7 resides on my first drive.
1) I first set the USB to boot from;
2) Began to install Windows 10;
3) First snare: upon first reboot, after removing the USB, the system just started my old Windows 7 (!). (I expected a dual boot menu there.)
4) Rebooted, set SSD to first disk, and finished installing Windows 10;
5); Tried to add boot menu later (both in Windows 7 and Windows 10), using the Advanced System Settings, to no avail: neither OS sees another boot partition.
Upon starting windows (10) I'm constantly being shown the boot manager and the only OS I can choose from is windows 7. I am using W10 having upgraded from W7. Windows still boots but the startup times vary from 15sec to around 3min.

Yesterday I decided to download WIN 10 Pro 64 bit with the media creation tool to generate an ISO file as I needed to do a fresh install on several machines. I had assumed that I would get the current 1511 version but I got the previous 10240 version . Now I know that MS pulled this November update after a dew days of release but then re-instated again on the 24th Nov. My broadband speed is "pathetic" so I had to download the 1511 upgrade once the initial installation was finished. This meant 18 hours had to elapse and I will still have to download the TH2 upgrade on every machine--will stick with Win 7 !
why I got the old version of Win 10 ?
I have Windows 7 and Windows 10 Enterprise Build 10240 set up in a dual boot configuration on the same hard drive. Windows 7 is the first partition on that drive and Windows 10 is the second. I have decided to keep Windows 10 as my main OS and want to remove Windows 7 and reclaim that space for the Windows 10 partition.
What is the easiest way to accomplish this without a complicated and long procedure? I have tried Easeus Partition Master 10.5, but am unable to format or delete this active partition. I tried to format and/or delete this through Windows 10 as well with no success.
My pc was installed with windows 10 dual boot with windows 7. After I removed windows 7 from harddisk somehow the dual boot options were not removed. I am still able to log into windows 10 but it is kind of disturbing. How should I completely remove the dual boot screen and log into win10 directly?

Is there a way to simply remove the Alphabet letters from the All apps menu? I don't really need my apps categorized by letter, just sorted.
I have a new PC and my motherboard (z97A) for some reason doesn't support charging when the pc is off (apparently its for power saving lol) which is a big deal for me because I use a lot of wireless peripherals that are meant to be charged when I don't use my pc (overnight etc).
I wasted like over a month to find a solution to that but I got no luck so I just figured out that I'll keep putting my PC to sleep instead of shutting it down so it doesn't make any noise but it still provides power in the USB.
But the thing is, my sister likes to use my pc and I am ok with it, but she keeps turning it off instead of putting to sleep so I end up comming back from school and the mouse/headset aren't charged (because she turned the pc off instead of putting it on sleep) and its ridiculously annoying.
So I figured, if there's no option to shut it down in the start menu then she'll just put it to sleep instead! But I can't find any option to remove it from the start menu, there's only the option to remove the sleep mode which I don't want.
I don't care about using commands like shutdown or anything like that, I just don't want the shutdown option to appear in the start menu. Is there a way to do it?
I have a old windows 7 safe mode boot screen that migrated over to windows 10. I works on windows 10 but I don't need it any more so I want to get rid of it. I just don't want to mess up in removing it... I'm using this tutorial... Can't get rid of the dual-boot option on start-up ?

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to remove what I suppose are some sort of system items, Mail, Alarms & Clock, Calculator etc. from the "All Apps" menu. Can't do it. They don't appear in the Windows/Start folder either.
I'm never going to use some of these "apps", which I assume is the new hip way of saying "programs". How can I delete?
