Installation :: How To Update From OS 32-bit To 64-bit
Aug 26, 2015
I had a friend who installed Windows 10 Pro 32-bit operative system on my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS, it wasnt until this day (2015/08/26) that I noticed it on my Laptop. How to upgrade or update it to 64-bit without erasing or formating everything??

I have a Samsung laptop running windows 8.1 which I am trying to update to Windows 10. The update downloads fine, installs as it should and then reboots my machine as if it wants to start into Windows 10 for the first time. The problem I face is that the machine seems to lock up on the blue windows 10 logo, the hard drive stops spinning on the laptop and nothing happens. The only thing that you can do is crash the machine by switching off the power, the laptop then boots back into Windows 8.1 as if it was never upgraded

I have a desktop PC running 8.1 x64. I decided to upgrade using Windows Update to 10. The files are downloaded with no problems, and then it asks for reboot. And when installing the system, the process stuck at 12% (copying files 42%). It just stays there for hours. If I force a reboot, the operation starts to revert to 8.1, and when it finally boots, I see this error: C1900101-2000D.
I haven't found much information about the error, I've tried the installation for a couple of times now, and I'm getting a bit desperate.

I click on the "get windows10" icon and it tells me that every thing is ready to install. So I click on " OK, lets continue" ...
A new window opens telling me "working on it" I had this run for 30 minutes and nothing changes.
I rebooted and started again, same results. I tried this several times, no joy. What am I missing?

I am trying to update to Windows 10 on a laptop currently running Windows 7. The problem is that the initial "10 second" prep has been showing "working on it" for over 4 hours. I have tried rebooting and starting the update again but it still doesn't get any further than the "working on it" screen.

I had reserved my copy of Win10, but then revoked the reservation as I want to control the download and installation my self.
But even after I revoked the reservation, well before Win10 was release, my laptop still seems to have downloaded the Win10 install files.
Now it tries to update every day. Luckely it fails every time, with error code 80240020.
I already removed the KB which installed the Win10 reservation tool. (KB3035583)
Also the GWX directory is gone.

I was told by the Windows 10 update tool that my video card was not supported and therefore couldn't update to Windows 10. I did a little research and found a relatively cheap card from Maplin that was compatible with 10. I've installed it all OK but the update tool still refers to my old card - the date of the update tool is from yesterday - can I get the update tool to run again or will it do it automatically?

I have migrated from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
Since the movement to Windows 10 I am getting a system crash with BLUE screen every time a new Windows 10 update is installed on the system.
Also is this being observed by other Windows 10 users too?

Was installing Win 10 last night. Since it was late she went to bed letting it run. This morning it was @ "configuring update for Win 10, 55% complete, do not turn off computer". I hasn't moved off 55%. I'm not sure what to do.

I'm back to running Windows 7 on my system. Along time ago, I moved the Windows 7 user profiles from c:/users/... to d:/users?... When I updated to Windows 10 (Get Windows 10), the update worked, but it created and used a new profile on the OS drive (c. Went back to Windows 7, and everything is fine. I need to know how to end up with a Windows 10 install that keeps and uses my existing user profiles. Perhaps it's a two step process... update from 7 to 10 and then reconnect or point to the old user profiles.

I've got a Nokia Lumia 530 and it was running happily on Win10. With the new build out you had to firstly roll back to 8.1 Update 1, then install Windows Insider and update.Unfortunately I don't seem to have enough drive space to do the update. It needs 1.35 gig and although Storage Sense says 1.39 gig available, it won't progress due to insufficient space. Must be some temp files or something.I've moved every app I can over to the SD card but to no avail.

After a critical update on the 20th, my computer will no longer boot. I have tried using this method to reset, i have also tried using the repair tools to return to windows 7, which fails as well. System restore also fails. My computer didnt come with recovery disks. I called tech support and they transferred me to sales so i could buy a clean copy of windows 10. get back to windows 7. I was a fool to upgrade.

Since Windows 10 automatically updated last weekend I have been unable to right click on any files. The little blue circle just keeps spinning round. As my computer is only 6 weeks old I have contacted the support line twice, each time resulting in an hour and a half phone call. They don't seem to know what it is, they have gone back to a date before 'the event' but it happened again. I only have very basic knowledge of computers and am not getting anywhere.

Windows 10 is set to automatic updates. It was trying to get the Windows Defender Update KB2267602 for two days but the message was always "waiting for server". This has now disappeared from the update screen and does not appear on the installed updates. Is this a problem?

I've been trying to update my windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for at least 10 times now and it always stuck at around 60% It reboots itself a few times and it always comes back to the circle screen with the % progress but getting around 60% it reboots and it gets stuck there... black screen, no cursor, no sound.
I've tried to plug it into a secondary screen thru hdmi but nothings happens; also I've uninstalled my antivirus since I've read it might be the problem but it didn't work..
I've got a Dell Inspiron 7537 Windows 8.1 x64 Intel Core i7, 8gb ram, Intel HD Graphics 2gb + Nvidia Geforce

I tried updating to Windows 10 from Windows 7 Pro Sp1.
Update went through fine but as soon as I get to the login screen and hit enter I get a BSOD with Bad Pool Header.
I couldn't boot into safe mode, do the "reset my PC" option or system restore. The system restore says image corrupt.
Only thing I could do is go back to previous build, which worked.
So now I was going to try to manually install, but getting the Windows 10 iso through the media creation tool. I load it up and it just loads and says "something Happened" 0x8007002- 0x20016. I also wanted to get my product key to have on hand for when I do get it to work. So I load up Produkey, and it says my Product Key not found.
There is a script that is on the MS scripting site that will query and convert the key from hex to decimal. I run that and it reports back just "B". All B's.
So im assuming my key got screwed up during the install. Not sure what else i can do if I don't have a key to install Windows 10 when I get an ISO from another computer.

So I've been trying to update to WIN 10 a lot of times since it came out. Unfortunately the update fails around 80-90% and a BSOD shows up. The BSOD says something like Kernel Inpage Error. I've tried to update from Windows Update, the media creator tool and from the "Get Windows 10" program.

I upgraded to 10 again without doing anything I usually do before hand. I went to disable the option to not let windows update install drivers and theres no option. I went to advanced system settings, hardware, then device installation settings and theres only 2 options, yes (recommended) and no (your device might not work as expected)
