View 3 RepliesWin 10 and WLM 2011 (Windows Live Mail.) Previous to upgrading to Windows 10, I sent and received emails using WLM. No problems, everything worked fine. After Win 10 install over win 7, (keep all settings, apps etc) I cannot send/receive emails, nor can I use Chrome Browser "This page is unavailable" But that is another issue for later.
I have checked and double checked the settings, Servers, usernames, passwords etc. Still cannot connect
Message received: "Unable to send or receive messages for the XXXXXXXXXX account.
The host 'pop.XXXXX.com.au' could not be found.
Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
Server: 'pop.XXXXX.com.au'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0D (Googled this, but the answer was to Uninstall Zone Alarm etc, and I do not have it)
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 11003
Makes no difference if the email is Gmail, Yahoo, or POP/Imap. I don't want to resort to using MAIL/Calendar with Win 10. The internet connection is working fine, but not for WLM 2011 or Mozilla Thunderbird 38.2.0 (Just found out) I can use the internet connection with EDGE, but that is all. Yes, I did goto win10 help pages, but still no fix available.
I'm running Windows 10 Professional x64 build 10240 on my Lenovo X220 laptop. I've subscribed to receive Insider builds on the fast ring, but every time I check for updates I am told "Your device is up to date", and no available updates are shown.
Previously it was working fine; I was receiving regular definition updates for Windows Defender and a number of updates for Windows 10 x64-based systems. Then, a few weeks ago I was offered "th2_professional_10525" (at least, I think that was the name), but this update appeared to fail, and on rebooting the laptop I got the message "Something went wrong..." at the logon screen.
I believe build 10565 is now available on the fast and slow ring. I've changed to the slow ring but still get the "Your device is up to date" message when I check for updates.
How can I get Windows Update to recognise that a later build is available?
My Surface Pro alerts me when I miss a phone call. I can sends texts through Cortana, but it doesn't show me the text messages when I receive them on my phone.

View 2 RepliesHow do I prevent Windows 10 automatically download and install the updates during its installation?
View 6 RepliesWhen I try to sync a folder, it just tells me it can't connect to my server or there's some other problem.
I can access my emails for the same home account on my work computer because it does not have Windows 10.
I wish I'd never accepted the upgrade. It has cost me hours and hours of time and much missed communication.
I'm using Windows 10 Mobile on Lumia 925 and am unable to send or receive MMS (text messages containing images).
Mobile internet is working, as well as normal text messages but whenever I try to send a message containing an image, it simply says "failed - tap to try again". Of course, I can try again, it still doesn't work.
APN settings are ok.
Note that on Windows Phone 8.1 I had no such problems on the same phone. This is Build 10586 but it already didn't work with previous builds.
I am running a Virtual Machine in VM Ware and on Windows 7 Ultimate it worked fine no problems at all. But suddenly after the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro I no longer receive internet on my VM.
View 1 RepliesWin 7 allowed this, but I can't figure out how in Win 10. I want Win 10 to "trust" my Galaxy S5 and automatically receive and save files sent by the phone. I send multiple files, usually photos, and having to go through all the manual steps for each picture is not working for me. I have Googled this and searched forums to no avail.
View 9 RepliesI now get "Network Operation Failed"
and below that,
"Error with send/receive. There was an error synchronizing your folder hierarchy. Error: 80041004"
This Outlook install is part of Office 2010. Everything was running fine until this morning. I did a lot of searching and found a reference to a Control Panel setting. However, now, it appears that Control Panel has gone missing!!! I ran a utility on the command line, I forget the actual command, to deal with corrupted files. It found some issue, so it said. I rebooted. Nothing has changed... I've wasted the whole day so far.
I don't know if it is related but I seem to also have problems on some web sites displaying images. As if the HTML is displayed only, without the css settings. (Chrome browser) - same on Firefox browser.
I updated the phone 2 days ago and since then i am unable to send and receive SMS.
O.S Version: 10.0.10149.0
Model: Nokia Lumia 925
I cannot send files via bluetooth from my PC to same smartphone 4.N4.2 Samsung Note just cannot send files from my smartphone to my PC.
View 1 RepliesI just installed a new SSD and moved my OS onto it, however now I can't start my computer with both of my displays plugged in (1 HDMI and 1 DVI). The main display (HDMI) will flash on and off while the DVI does not receive any signal, until I unplug the DVI and then the computer starts like normal. Both displays work just fine after it has booted.
My display driver is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950, and it is up-to-date as of the time I'm posting this. The Nvidia control panel recognizes both displays and has the HDMI selected as the main display without me having to touch it.
I could boot with both displays plugged in before I installed the SSD.
I did a clean install of Windows (not cloning) originally on the SSD and even tried to re-install again to see if it would fix it and it does not.
The only option in BIOS related to display is to go back to my processor's integrated graphics instead of my Nvidia card, but this really should not be related to the issue at all as both the DVI and HDMI are plugged directly into the Nvidia card's ports.
Something I found very weird when I was checking the BIOS is that if on boot I go to BIOS, exit, and proceed to boot, it works just fine. But not if I just do a normal boot.
I performed the Windows 10 upgrade. Since that was completed I've been getting a receive error in Outlook 2013:
Outlook 0x800ccc1a - Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified.
I can send emails, but am not receiving.
I did some research and found a tip to do a cmd prompt with:
sfc/scannow
I tried doing this many times. It always ends with this message:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log.
The scan does not fix the email problem I'm having.
Over the last 14 days Windows Update has failed to work, also when I check installed update there are non showing up.To get it to work again I have to use the Command Prompt in Administrator mode and run sfc /scannow and when that has completed run.DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
After running these two commands I can then check for updates and see previously installed updates.how to get Updates to run correctly without having to run these two commands
I am upgrading from Windows 7 to a pc but it seems to be stuck looking for updates. should I start again? Well, I am starting over but was wondering if I could do something different to avoid the problem.
View 8 RepliesHave updates that are "Waiting to download" (again because they Failed to install) - NO USER OPTION to start them individually or collectively.
and there is No user option to Stop Windows10 downloading constantly failing updates over and over.
That must be fixed:
How do I stop daily Office XP Service pack 3 download of course after the download it does fail to install?
If such update was ever issued this should be no problem to install even if it was for the XP.
This must be the reason the Windows Upgrade to 1511 crashes the computer after "Installing features & Drivers reaches 100% - and Configuring settings 100%.
System Properties > Hardware > Device Installation Settings
Here I want to:
1. No, let me choose what to do
2. Never install driver software from Windows Update
3. Disable Automatically get the device app...
As shown in the snapshot.
I want to do the above steps via registry (.reg file) or a .bat/.cmd file.
I'm a HP PC users... Just updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1. In my Windows 10 I'm unable to install updates..
View 3 RepliesMy win-10 computed downloaded the update files yesterday. But the installation has failed.
View 2 RepliesIn Windows 10 build 10130, how do I prevent the automatic downloading of its updates?
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to 10 again without doing anything I usually do before hand. I went to disable the option to not let windows update install drivers and theres no option. I went to advanced system settings, hardware, then device installation settings and theres only 2 options, yes (recommended) and no (your device might not work as expected)
View 9 RepliesInstalling Windows 10 directly on this pc from media creation tool. When it gets to 'searching for updates' it gets stuck a 0%.
View 8 RepliesI am currently using windows 7 64-bit.
I downloaded windows 10 from the ms site (the automatic icon never appeared on my pc), and am using the media creation tool.
All goes fine until 'Getting Updates', when it hangs on 'checking for updates'.
I have tried playing with the settings in Windows update, but suspect the problem lies in there somewhere... my windows 7 was recently proving unable to install all its updates also. I've tried various solutions for that but no luck.
Is a clean install the answer?
