I bought a Blu-Ray disc drive for my Windows 10 PC. I can see the files with Windows Explorer.
When I insert a Blu-Ray disc, nothing happens.
Windows Media Player does not play it. Does it support Blu-Ray?
System that doesn't use the disc drive for dvd's or video disc format is wrong - taking away something that now, you have to pay for. Do the wright thing Microsoft and reinstate the disc media player.

View 2 RepliesI recently updated to windows 10 and haven't had too many problems, although my Toshiba video player gives me audio but not video when playing dvds. This isn't usually a problem for me unless I'm somewhere that doesn't give me internet access, that's when I'll put on a dvd. My question is how do you fix this? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success. The only other thing I can think of is to go back to windows 8, but I don't really want to do that just yet.
View 6 RepliesI upgraded my HP laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Since then I've noticed a strange problem with the sound. It will cut out without warning--if I'm watching a video on YouTube the sound will cut out midway through but the video keeps playing. Or sometimes the video also freezes. iTunes will not play music or video at all when this happens. Restarting the computer will fix the problem, but it happens almost every day and I'd rather find some way to keep it from happening again.
View 1 RepliesI'm pretty sure the problem originates from the Windows 10 driver for Intel HD Graphics. In short while playing video the system will occasionally hiccup and freeze for a minute or two and resume like nothing ever happened. The mouse works but keyboard, mouse clicks, touchscreen everything else including CTL ALT DEL are unresponsive. Never had this problem in 7 or windows 8, no errors recorded in the system log.
Majority of the time it occurs when playing video through VLC and through Chrome or Edge, sometimes but rarely it will freeze while in Visual Studio. I think it is a graphics driver problem mainly because Visual Studio would freeze a lot until I turned off graphics hardware acceleration.
I upgraded my media PC to Windows 10 over the weekend. I had been running Windows 7 using the media centre but I'd tested Team MediaPortal before upgrading so figured it would be ok. Turns out it has been for the most part, but there are two very frustrating things happening. The NVidia display driver keeps stopping responding and restarting. The computer hangs when playing a movie purchased from the Store in the Films and TV app.
I have tinkered with the settings after some searching but it keeps happening. I remember hearing something about how NVidia drivers don't work on Windows 10 but the version that people were saying to install is the version I have installed.
I thought it might be a PC issue as the hardware is a few years old now, but I can watch live TV fine. I have had the display driver crash when I was playing other full screen video (streaming, from a website) too.
After upgrading to windows 10, I am facing problem with playing videos. Whenever I try to play videos I get too many "Graphic card has stopped responding" errors. I have downloaded and installed latest AMD driver for windows 10 but still the problem remain unsolved. I think (and hope!) it is software problem because I don't get any errors while playing games like Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition or PES. My laptop is ASUS X550DP(CPU: AMD A10-5750M, GPU: HD 8650M 2GB).
View 1 Replieswhile playing video (using any software media player, movies & tv, internet explorer youtube, google chrome youtube, vlan), all other inactive windows (any other windows) turn blank and white. I have updated video drivers, did not make a difference. I have then uninstalled all video card driver and used only default windows drivers, played video with same result. Therefore, I am sure it is windows. Tonight while trying to watch the bowl games, I typically watch video and browse/study using IE/Chrome. This is pretty typical for me, but the browser windows turning black and white is getting really annoying.
View 5 RepliesI upgraded to 10. Now my printer won't work.(can't find it). I got out my installion disc to reinstall. The disc won't run for me. Now, what do I do? (I tried another disc and it won't run either) Is there something I have to do other than just put the disc in like I did with 8?
View 4 RepliesTrying to install Windows 10 Pro 64 bit on an older desktop computer (AMD 4000+ CPU, Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard) and the boot disc won't get past the Windows logo splash screen; normally it would load the language and keyboard options after this, but in my case the process just hangs at the Windows logo and does not go past that.
I also notice that eventually the boot disc stops spinning in the drive, but the Windows logo remains. I've tried switching DVD drives but the same happens on another drive that I know is working
I updated a Lenovo Laptop from it's original Windows 8 (not 8.1) to Windows 10. The Laptop is working fine with all the updates and added apps install. Now, how do I create a reinstall, recovery or image disc in order to restore the OS prior to the time just before creating this backup disc? Again, this was an update to Windows 10, not a clean install.

View 9 RepliesI recently upgraded my laptop, specifically "Acer aspire v5-473pg" into windows 10 and now I'm trying to do a clean install. The problem is there's a lot of partition on the partition menu when proceeding into a clean install and I don't know a lot about them. My laptop comes with win 8 single L and I didn't upgrade to windows 8.1, is it safe to delete this partitions (i'll attach some images)
btw my laptop didn't come up with installation disc or recovery disc. Can I just delete them all? I mean wouldn't they harm or do any corrupt files in my laptop? I found out that those recovery partition is essential if I don't have any recovery backups and MSR partition is from windows itself. Any step that I must do to clean install windows 10? should I just format Partition 4:Acer"? would it still be considered clean install? or should I delete something from this partitions?
If I clone a disc with Acronis true home image . Does it just copy programmas and apps I have installed? This would save me a lot of time if this is true. For example if I have Windows 10 Home installed when I backed it up and installed pro, would it keep my windows 10 professional licence and Office Etc. On to my new install.

I did a little research and found a relatively cheap card from Maplin that was compatible with 10. I've installed it all OK but the update tool still refers to my old card - the date of the update tool is from yesterday - can I get the update tool to run again or will it do it automatically?
View 9 RepliesI upgraded my Lenovo U310 laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 a week ago. Everything seems to have upgraded successfully. The only problem that I can find is that none of the video streaming from Windows 10 apps can be played. I get an error 'Unsupported video type or invalid file path' when I click on a video article in USA Today or when I try to stream video from any other apps, NBC News, MSN Money, etc... from Windows 10 store.
I have no issue streaming videos from any of the browser though. What could be missing that could cause video streaming to fail?
Since installing Windows 10 my video picture is upside down and there is no sound. I can see the other party correctly but neither of us can hear. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Windows 10. Windows Media Player works ok. Skype Echo 123 doesn't work.
View 2 RepliesI've been having this issue for nearly a year now (probably around 9 months). It started after my little sister made me get a virus by her trying to download something onto my laptop. I've since taken it to a reputable computer shop as well as followed instructions from other computer wizs and I think it's no longer there. Issue is, my computer has kind of developed another problem after that. It freezes on it's own sometimes, when I pick it up or even when it's on a desk and immobile. It would also freeze when I play a game sometimes, loud buzzing sound as the game continues in loops I believe. I had BSOD problems earlier this year that was solved (Apparently. I haven't gotten any in about 4-5 months) when I had Windows 7 but this issue still persists.
When it would freeze and I manually turn off my computer and turn it back on, the laptop would sometimes say no wifi could be detected. At all. Not mine, not my neighbors, nothing. I've never really taken it out of the house so I don't know if it'd act the same elsewhere. I would then shut it down and take out the battery for 30 seconds before putting it back in. Sometimes the wifi would work then or I'd go connect it to my Internet Modem and the wifi would start working over there too.
So I'm not sure what's causing this problem. It's not overheating as I had it cleaned less than 4 months ago by a professional. I've had this laptop for two years and I really wanted it to last me at least 4 because I'll be going into an animation program soon and to get a laptop of the same caliber costs $1000+.
Is there anyway I can solve this freezing issue/loss of wifi on my own? I'm thinking of taking it back to the computer shop (they've had a hard time trying to find out what's wrong with it) but I'm sure they'll charge me again and I'm not willing to end up paying a lot to get this fixed. Might as well buy a new one if it costs more than $500 to fix...
P.S. I'm also having issues with my sound card where I'd plug in my headphones and it would work but when I take it out, my laptop would say it's still plugged in. Addtionally, my CD Rom Drive makes a loud sound when I try to skip through CDs and DVDs. Sometimes it won't even skip and just continue making the sound. I don't know how my laptop has gotten to this state as I've taken very good care of it (minus allowing a younger sibling to use it but you live and learn). These issues don't bother me much as I can use a DVD player for my DVD's and the sound issue isn't an issue for me. I don't really care for it since I use headphones 90% of the time or have the sound off.
I am planning on buying a new PC without an operation system, as it is cheaper for me to buy the OS separately but many are just a download license. Is it possible for me to use this license to download the OS to a usb and then just plug this USB into my new computer and install the OS that way?

View 8 RepliesI want to try and reinstall windows for him but he says the laptop never came with a windows disc, that it was pre-installed instead. I've never owned a laptop so I have no clue about it but I know my Alienware Aurora came with windows 7 disc and a key sticker which I still have. I thought maybe I could format and install windows from my disc but then what will happen since he doesn't have a key and also he had windows 8 not 7.
He went to the computer store and they told him they would format his drive and install windows 10 on it but I doubt they would give him a disc or key for it. If something like this happens again he will have to go and pay another 80 bucks for them to do this which is silly. Even paying the money this time is silly since he already has a legit version of windows 8.
For various reasons I decided to completely format my hard drive and partitions when installing windows 10, to give it a clean start.Now when I'm in windows 10 I have 2 drives, at 465gb each and a third one with 40mbs allocated as Dell Utilities and 930gb of unallocated space. No matter what I try I cannot link that unallocated space to anything. Even trying to create a simple volume out of it falls down by saying "the size of the extent is less than the minimum". I've tried extending my existing drives and using it but it throws up the same error or something about not enough space.

View 1 RepliesI have an HP Envy i7 laptop which came with a 1TB hard drive. As there was space to add a second drive I added a 500GB drive. In addition I added a 320GB drive in the DVD slot (using a dvd/disc converter cartridge).
I have recently noticed that disc access in Explorer has become really slow (seems to think about it for 10 - 15 secs sometimes) and loading programs seems to take longer too.
I am trying Aomei backup.When I click on the disc backup it appears that both MBR and C: are included but the next step, even after adding the word add, seems to include only C:. Does this invisible MBR is included in the back up?i also would like to ask if it is possible to run a disc backup without scheduling. And lastly, is the back up verified?
