I have 2 accounts on my new windows 10 laptop however the 2nd account added later cannot see folders or files that I set up by the first user. All permissions and sharing has been opened up but still 2nd user cannot see the folders created by the first. Both are administrators etc etc.

I am getting multiple "Downloads" folders appearing, all pointing to the same directory (E:/Downloads)
When I change one of them, they all change. Also no Documents folder.
Cant delete the extra folders. In the Properties > Location -- When I click "Restore Default" the folder url changes to "C:/Users/username/Documents/"
Where did my Original downloads folder go, and why are they all linked together anyway?

Well, I've just about configured everything I need for Windows 10. Last is file sharing. It's the same old story with Microsoft sharing. See from one, can't see from another. I'm not using homegroup. The problem or error I receive is that on the XP laptop, the message says I don't have permissions. Need file sharing with the old Windows platforms and Win10?

I got a new windows 10 laptop a few weeks ago and I'm belatedly getting around to creating a system recovery disk on usb. I'm intending to use the standard windows 10 option 'create a recovery drive'. Someone mentioned that among other things this would be useful if I ever wanted to sell the machine on further down the line and wanted to do a clean install.
My question is, does the standard recovery disk save personal data because I've already loaded some music, docs, notes vids and added a few browser bookmarks etc. Basically I'm hoping it doesn't because I wouldn't want to pass anything on. (I already do 2 separate backups of my personal stuff in case of failure, so that's not an issue)...

I have the option "Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar" off.
However since the last update whenever I either copy or move a file into any folder windows puts that folder under the Recent group in the taskbar.

Does Windows 10 automatically archive older unused files or folders ??

I have multiple hidden files on my computer. I am planning on downloading Windows 10 sometime soon. But I was wondering if I did, would I have to re-hide my currently hidden files and folders? (By the way I am currently running Windows 8.1).

I recently deleted some mp3 files and folders, then when I emptied the Recycle Bin I inadvertently answered "no" to the "are you sure you want to delete these files" question. Now they are sitting on my recent files / frequent folders page and will not delete again. When you analyze them they are 0 bytes, so not taking up any space (also may be the reason they won't delete) but they are cluttering the area and I need to get rid of them. My laptop is brand new, under warranty, but Dell support saying it's a software issue. I went on You Tube and found one video that demonstrated a method of deleting them through the "Command Prompt" screen, but this didn't work.

I upgraded to Windows 10 last week. I had folders and some files missing right away. I went into the "Old Windows" folder and nothing was there. Also, I couldn't go back to Windows 7 or a previous system restore because an error is all that would come up. Now, after shutting down my computer and restarting the next day, I'm missing folders. For example, I create a folder I title "Edit" for images to work on everyday (I'm a photographer), and the folder is completely missing.

Running win 10 since 2 weeks. Trying to copy all files from external HD to new second internal HD. Some files copied no problem, other files and folders will either not copy (administrator rights) or are outright "access denied". All are films, no programs.
I got full administrator rights, only one account, turned on all file sharing it will let me. Never had the problem with win 7. This is non-trivial. I got full admin rights. How can I access my files?

Earlier today I had filmed a video and was editing it. I saved all the files to my D: drive (1TB hardrive) . I had been saving them in a folder that was a few folders deep into my D: drive.
This is what it looked like
D: New Volume - MurrayBros- Sketches - Video Games Suck - Firewatch sucks
I was saving them in the last one (Firewatch Sucks). When I had finished saving everything, I went to go look at my new video and the folder was gone.
This is what it currently looks like now
D: New Volume - MurrayBros - Sketches - new folder
all those files are gone, and the folder Firewatch sucks is gone, and the folder which I had named Video Games Suck is now titled new folder.

I have decided to migrate to Win10 while maintaining my Win7 system until I'm sure (on the same box). Win 10 is installed on a new SSD, Win7 on an old SSD, with all my files held on a 1TB drive so I planned to just save any files I needed, like brower shortcuts on the storage drive.
In Win 10 I have had no issues viewing the files on this drive until today. I have a simple text file for storing information about the migration, and I can open it, but only see an old version of the file. It is fine in Win7. New files and folders I create in Win7 are not visible in Win10 at all now. What am I missing given all the old files created in Win7 are working fine?
E.G. If I boot into Windows 7 and create a folder on the root of the storage drive, called test, then boot into Windows 10 from my other SSD not only can't I see the test folder, I can create a folder named test. I've not booted into Win7 yet to see if I can see that from there.

I am after some software that will remove duplicate files. In this case, some program seems to have recreated duplicate folders with just a file called "desktop.ini" in it. I would like to be able to search for that and remove all the corresponding duplicate folders that contain just that filename.

I am a noob when it comes to backup and restore. After many years and many iterations of Windows, I finally tried to backup my files and folders. They have been stored to an external HDD.
I ran into an issue with Win 10 that required a complete clean install of 7 and then upgrade to 10 again. The drive was completely cleaned.
Upon install, I can only see the backup I created after the new install.
From the backup drive, I can see many files when clicking on the drive to view content. The laptop has been renamed. How then can I restore the files from the old setup?

Sorting files in a folder alphabetically in Win 10 is apparently the... same SHIT as in Win 8 / 8.1 Why is it not possible to sort files under a specific letter for example A - instead of under: A - H. since I have folders with thousands of files. This is a back-step compared to older Windows versions LOUSY
Instead of a free upgrade to Win 10 - I would rather have a free downgrade to Win 7

I have a laptop and PC that both have OneDrive. When I add folders to the laptop OneDrive and switch over to my PC, the folder appears immediately. I can open it and have no problems. But when I add files to that folder or any OneDrive folder on my laptop and switch over to my PC only the folder shows up--the files are not there. If I copy an entire folder with photos to my laptop OneDrive and switch over to the PC OneDrive, only the folder appears; there are no files to view.

earlier I plugged in the hard drive from my wife's PC into my own PC (both windows 10) so I could try to recover some files from it (as it's currently not booting into windows).
As soon as I booted my PC back up I could see the second hard drive was there but since then I've been experiencing all sorts of issues. I am still an administrator but I just don't seem to be able to do anything - it's hard to describe, but I can't move or change or delete ANY files or folders on my system, I can't move files to or from an external drive for back up, on the desktop the right click menu doesn't come up at all and on files/folders it has no ability to access properties.
Also, whilst most programs still open normally, any Microsoft Office programs just don't do anything at all when clicked on. It's as if I have lost all control over making any changes on my PC.
I assumed that the two drives were conflicting in some way so removed the second drive but the problems are still there.

On my secondary hard drive I get these arrows on EVERY single file and folder, there's only one folder on the root of the hard drive that doesn't have it, but a few files in it have it, but those are in folders that also have it. At first I thought it might be because Compressed settings are switched on because that's the only difference between the system disk and his one.

I have a laptop with about 68GB of OneDrive sync'd data. I now have a new laptop which I am setting up and it will replace my old laptop.
What is the best way to do migrate all my data to the new machine?
1) Let OneDrive automatically sync with my new PC and use 68GB of my 250GB monthly allotment?
2) I could manually move the data over - as we did in the old days - and then turn on OneDrive and "hopefully" let it sync and realize that same data is on the new laptop and not download or create other copies.
Moving the data over to a new machine? How does OneDrive react?
I tried with one folder and it seems to work where it did not download the folder again or create a second copy. I tried another folder and it started downloading (syncing).
Bottom line is I'd prefer to manually move all the folders and files (copy) from my old laptop to my new laptop's OneDrive but don't know how well this will play out. Nothing on Microsoft's OneDrive sit or elsewhere on this specifically that I've found.

I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 over 4 days ago. After windows 10 was up, all the folders/files in my desktop were moved somewhere. I did a file search and moved them back to the desktop. I was on a general user admin account. Shortly after, I logged into my outlook account on windows 10. Could still see all the files/folders on my desktop.
But when I rebooted my pc for 1st time after upgrading to windows 10, all the desktop files/folders disappeared. File search could only find the icon links in ..../Recent folder. No physical files/folders exist for those icon links. Online MS techs had tried to look into my pc remotely but they could not find anything. One online tech suggested Office 365 could recover them since the files may be saved in Office app, but I used Office to search for the files with no success.
All other personal files/folders not saved on desktop are still OK. All was lost for the files/folders on desktop?

Solved Windows 10 says I don't have permission to save anything. - Windows 10 Forums
However I am still running into an issue with Writing into about 50% of the folders in my C:
Two things could have possibly occurred to cause this issue,
1: I signed into my Microsoft account and from there out it wanted me to login to it to log into my PC, so I removed my Microsoft account
2: I shared a file to the OneDrive using the Microsoft account above.
There are multiple folders that the only thing I can do when I right click in it and go to "New" is make a new folder, no other options.
When I right click on the folder and go to Properties, Security tab, and try and change the settings for Users or administrators, I get the following error
Code:
An error occurred while applying security informationg to:C:Program Files (x86)TeamViewerConnections_incoming.txtFailed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied.
The above error applies to a lot of folders (but not all of them). My User account named Yekim is an administrator and the only account on my computer. I've tried elevating to administrator and changing the folder but it does not work.
So basically what I'm looking to do is to either give access to all files/folders on my computer to the User 'Yekim' or to properly give him administrator. Even though it does say he is already a local administrator it does not seem to apply.
