At one point I had my system as not activated. I searched for a product key and accidentally selected the enterprise key. Now I have an enterprise edition and I am afraid I will not get the free upgrade by the end of the month!
How can I reverse this without having to go back to windows 7 and start all over?
I upgraded to the latest build (10240) today but managed to enter the enterprise product key by mistake. Is there anyway to change back to pro without reinstalling? I've tried reverting to the previous build but it says the files have been deleted.
I currently plan on doing a clean install on a new ssd of Windows 10. My current mobo is a ASUS P8z68-V which has UEFI so I plan on doing a UEFI installation of Windows 10. However, I plan on getting a new processor and motherboard sometime in the future, so would I have to do a reinstall of Windows 10 when I get my new motherboard, or could I expect it to boot up normally as would a traditional BIOS system would work?
After install of November update, or 1511 (for the 11th month of 2015), or build 10586 windows 10 update now all apps in Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus except Microsoft Word configure each time they start.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus with same result.
I stopped using the desktop in Win8.1 (apart from those apps that still open it to start)
With Win10 , the desktop appears automatically on start up and also if you close an app. This always needs an extra keystroke to get back to the start screen.
Is there any way of automatically bypassing or switching off the desktop?
Also, was able to edit the tile legend in Win8.1. Not been able to find any way of doing this in Win10. The text on tiles associated with web sites often give no clue as to what you are opening.
I just fixed my laptop after my old windows 8.1 single language went down, I got myself a windows 8 enterprise copy, however, I can't upgrade from enterprise to 8.1, is there is anyway to upgrade from windows 8 enterprise to 10? is there is iso to download when it's released?
New Win10 Ent install. I have two LG phones (one is G4). When plugged in via USB, they show up in Device Manager, but not as a storage device to be browsed. Setting on phone is for media sharing. The show up on Windows 8.1.
my laptop was delivered in my native language, Dutch. However, I always work in English and prefer that the Display language is also English. My start Menu says " instellingen" and not " Setteings".I followed the instructions added a language in the settings menu Region & Language set the language as defailt, logged out and logged in..Nothing changed Restarting has no result also.Might it be that HOME versions don't have the Change Dipslay Language option?
I just finished building my first ever PC. I am using the education edition of windows 10 if that makes a difference. I downloaded it to a blank flash drive I had lying around via this link: [URL] .... When I tried to install windows, it said "bootMGR is missing". I set the flash drive to boot first in BIOS but it still doesn't work. I am wondering if it has to do with formatting or something like that.

I downloaded the Win10 Home single language ISO for a clean install on a new build PC and skipped the activation step during install. Now I need to activate. If I purchase a copy of Windows 10 Home in store or digitally, will I be able to use the product key in my current install without need to re-install?
I updated from windows 7 to windows 10 yesterday and ever since I haven't been able to connect to the internet. I always get a message that pops up that says XFast LAN Driver Failed and it says it needs to be re-installed. It took me ages just to get it to uninstall but now it won't let me reinstall the XFast LAN Driver from my ASUS MOBO driver disk. I've tried everything to get the internet to work properly but with no successful results.
I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 and lost LAN, so could not connect to internet. Troubleshooter advised a possible driver problem with the network card, however the Realtek GBT family card showed up as working in device manager. Researching Internet came up with no solution. I rolled back to 8.1, found updated drivers for the network card, installed them, and upgraded again. Still the same problem. A friend upgrading from 7 had the same problem and with the same network card, and wireless. I realised we both had PrivateFirewall installed, and as soon as I uninistalled it, Internet was working again.
Not sure what to do. I did find a page to uninstall Win 10, but I'm not sure it would do it correctly without the internet. I'm not even sure if it would work because I was afraid to try it. It is a HP computer and it was running on 8.1. I'm using my spouse's computer to post this.
I have an Acer ASpire laptop which after updating to windows 10, the screen displays the recycle bin, the cursor, the lower toolbar, it cannot connect to internet and the sound icon has an "X"..I pulled the battery to see if it would continue but to no avail but did get a notice saying " desktop not available etc ect"
I can right click on the screen and get context menu's to appear but nothing that I can get any further with.If I right click on the sreen and select "Display Settings" I get a message saying" This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action etc etc".
I have not seen this question on here so far. It sounds like the upgrade will be sent by MS at their will. How would a 2-3 gig download work on a slow, metered connection. I wonder if there will be some other way? I have to do large downloads between 2 and 7 AM.
My plan is soon after I get the Win 8.1 laptop to download and install Win10. Here 3G cellular internet is slow and unreliable. I'm scared that if I try to download Win10 it will fail and I'll have to start the download from the beginning.
Someone told me that the Win10 download includes the ability to auto-resume so that if a download fails it can re-start from where it left off once the internet comes back. Is that true? I need to get confirmation on this before I get my new Win8.1 laptop.
If Win10 download really does have auto-resume capability then I can do the Win10 download and resume as needed if the download fails. without losing data.
How to confirm that Win10 download has auto-resume capability so downloaded data is not lost.
My daughter upgraded to Windows 10 on her laptop recently. She lost all of her word documents and most everything else that was saved on her computer. Is there a way to get the files back? She is a college student and has lost all of her school files from the last three years.
,I have been using Windows 10 and am getting a problem with overheating.when I use VSO convertXtoDVD to do a video conversion which is quite CPU intensive ocassionally Windows 10 will Shut down my Laptop and I never had this problem as much when I was using Windows 7.Could Windows 10 be my problem or do you think it maybe a hardware issue? My Laptop fan is working fine but the laptop is getting quite hot.I ran speedfan after a shutdown and my cpu temps were roughly 56Cfor one core and 57C for the other at idle.I also ran speedfan while using convertX and during the conversion the cpu temps increased to 96C on one core and 97C on the other is this way too hot or should it beable to cope with these temps?
OK so i have two computer one is a home computer and one is a gaming computer. On the home computer it is getting the free windows 10 upgrade. On my computer used for gaming its not because i am running a un-legitimate copy of windows. So my question is can i swap the hard drives so i can have a legitimate copy of windows 10 for my gaming computer?
Since I upgraded to 10 I have an issue that occurs when I have multiple windows open; when I click the taskbar to switch program to something that is already minimised or in the background, such as a new settings screen, or any other screen which doesn't automatically maximise to full screen resolution, it will just disappear behind all other open windows. So for example, if I have chrome open and want to go to steam (or anything either unopened, minimised or in the background) I would click on the program in taskbar, the screen will flash up - but as soon as I move my cursor towards it (ie away from the taskbar), the screen that is already open will take priority and send the new screen to the back. This is rather frustrating and I've never had this problem before.
I'm not sure whether it is a taskbar problem or a window priority issue? But, I just can't seem to fix the issue.
To temporarily solve it, I have had to minimise all windows to get to the new window that I want - as it will just go to the back (unless I either quickly move my mouse to it, or if the screen is maximised and at the top already) and this isn't ideal.
How to solve my various BSOD events with windows 10. My windows logs are also full of critical errors.
Essentially, every few days, (I can't replicate the issue at will), after I've used my laptop (Fujitsu u904 Lifebook) on it's docking station (Network via Ethernet), when I reboot off the docking station (Network via WiFi) I get a combination of errors. These range from:
- a message saying that Windows was unable to start the The Group Policy Client - a blank desktop with no shortcuts - clicking on the start button doesn't work (but the windows key does)
While not all thee errors happen together, what does happen is that I'm unable to connect to Wifi and the network icon is not visible in the tray.
I know error this is about to happen, because when I power down from the docking station (I never take or put my laptop on/off it without it being powered down), I hear an error sound and then when next rebooting (off the dock), the Wifi symbol on the lock screen before entering the password has changed to the Wifi symbol with a small circle at the top left. Sure enough my windows event logs show various errors including a number listed as error No 7031,
I'm not a techie but read elsewere that if this happens, entering "netsh" & "winsock reset" from the admin screen does solve the problem after rebooting, but I'm having to do this every couple of days.
