Installation :: Update Fails Around 80 - 90% And BSOD Shows Up
Aug 13, 2015
So I've been trying to update to WIN 10 a lot of times since it came out. Unfortunately the update fails around 80-90% and a BSOD shows up. The BSOD says something like Kernel Inpage Error. I've tried to update from Windows Update, the media creator tool and from the "Get Windows 10" program.

After a critical update on the 20th, my computer will no longer boot. I have tried using this method to reset, i have also tried using the repair tools to return to windows 7, which fails as well. System restore also fails. My computer didnt come with recovery disks. I called tech support and they transferred me to sales so i could buy a clean copy of windows 10. get back to windows 7. I was a fool to upgrade.

I downloaded and installed windows 10 home premium version on my desktop. The blue screen have been annoying me time by time when I'm using OS properly. There are several errors shows up every often, such as bad pool xxxx, page management, no area paged found. I tried reinstalled OS but the problems still exist. How to solve those errors. Someone said its caused by the drive software which I don't know how to pick it up from so many drive tools in my system. By the way, is there anyway to solve problems directly except downloading new OS version again?Currently running home premium 10240

I have been trying for a full week now, to no avail. Whenever I apply the update, it goes to the "Restarting" screen...and gets stuck there indefinitely. Even after a few hours, it's still on that screen. So ultimately I have to force shutdown my PC (after which I can use it as per normal). I also do not believe I have any malware on my PC (have scanned multiple times with Kaspersky just to be sure). I had updated to Windows 8 > 8.1 > 10 on this same PC before and never faced a single issue. I also never mess around much with default system settings.

I reserved my copy of windows 10. I have tried to update it plenty of time but every time i do it fails during the second boot, it stops at 93% and goes to a black screen for a while, than it says "restoring back to your previous version of windows" I dont know what to do. I tried mostly everything. I deleted all the files in the software distribution and went into command prompt and put in wuauclt.exe /updatenow that didnt work. I downloaded the windows tool directly from windows that didnt work.

I have recently been trying to update an old hp laptop running windows 7. The 10130 update is showing ready to download, it downloads and tried to install but repeatedly fails at around 70-80% each time. It gives an error code of 800703f1 each time.
I have tried disabling all security features and firewalls etc. The laptop will not let me restore or reset to factory settings. I am not able to download the bios file as i have no flash drive to put it onto.

After a recent Windows 10 update on my laptop and my work computer the date no longer shows on the taskbar. The clock is visible and the calendar pops up when you click on it, but no date. No settings were changed by me and everything is enabled as far as I can tell. Is this just some sort of glitch or is there something I am missing to bring the date back?

At one time, I had Windows 2013 on my desktop computer. At some point I upgraded to Office 2016 and uninstalled Office 2013. However, every day for weeks now, Windows Update has tried (unsuccessfully) to install the following:
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2956151) 64-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Lync 2013 (KB2956174) 64-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2899522) 64-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2881001) 64-Bit Edition
Security Update for Microsoft Lync 2013 (KB2881013) 64-Bit Edition
Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2850036) 64-Bit Edition
I don't know if other updates are being blocked because these can't be installed. Plus, there appears no way to tell Windows Update NOT to try to install these again, as previous versions of Windows had.

diagnose the kernel power event id 41 error I've been receiving. Upgraded to Win 10 on day 1 of launch 7/29 which the Event Viewer tells me was the date of my very first kernel power related crash.
I've updated most of my drivers by now and while the crashes are now less frequent, still occurring about once a day

I have a SteelSeries Sensei mouse and a Razer BlackWidow keyboard. Windows 10 daily attempts to install a "SteelSeries ApS - Keyboard - SteelSeries Sensei [RAW]" update. The update fails within seconds of starting with error 0x80240016. The initial failure message darkens my screen (even when another program is full-screened) and shows a simple message, I don't currently have the verbiage and can't reproduce until Windows attempts automatically.
The update says keyboard in the name, but also says my mouse model. I'm sure it probably pertains to my mouse, but my mouse is working fine and this update fails regardless.
I've rebooted. I've attempted to install while a different mouse was plugged in. I've tried updating mouse and keyboard drivers automatically through the Device Manager ("device driver is already up to date"). I've installed keyboard and mouse drivers from the vendor sites.
Is there anyway to get Windows 10 to forget about this update and stop trying to install it?

I've successfully updated to Windows 10 on my two Surfaces, but there is some kind of issue on my desktop PC. The upgrade process from Windows 8 fails at about 71% total (Installing features and drivers at 91%), and the error I get is:
C1900101-40017 Windows Update ran into a problem.
When I click on "Get help with this error" I'm directed to a page with some general troubleshooting with Windows Update. I've run Windows update repair tool and it fixed some issues, but the installation failed again.
I have now tried freeing up more disk space which I admit was a bit tight and I'm preparing to run the update again. Still, I'd prefer if there was a more detailed error message or a log file where I could see what exactly went wrong, but there are no indications where I might find one (either in the error message, the troubleshooter, or Google). As it is, I'm shooting blind here and this will now be my fifth upgrade attempt.

I have been trying to upgrade 7pro for a day or so with no luck. First of all I tried the 'get windows 10 app' this tells me a update (KB2952664) is not installed. It was showing as failed in my update long but has since installed ok. However the app still says its missing. So I tried the media creation tool. This starts up fine but about 40 min in this screen appears
I press ok and after about 10 seconds the installer just closes, and that's it we are back to normal. I have tried this 3 times and I get the same result.

I have a HP desktop with W-7 that the HD is failing. (Almost failed)
I can't do a clone or a system image.
I installed a new HD and booted from my latest USB Upgrade from the Windows Media Creation tool.
I skipped the activation as it installed.
Now when I use the original product key, it fails to activate.

My laptop was upgraded to Windows 10 two days ago but my desktop has not received the green light yet. I was reading that if you downloaded the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's web site that it had an option that would allow up to upgrade your PC or create an ISO install disk. I downloaded the app on my laptop and created an ISO disk as a backup in case I need to do a clean install on that platform but when I tried to run the app on my desktop it brings up the UAC prompt asking if I want to run this program and when I click Yes, nothing happens.
I read some thread somewhere that if you're having problems with this app you need to do a selective startup where you don't run any startups and you disable all of the services and after restarting, I tried this and after restarting my PC running the Media Creation app again failed to do anything .
If I run Windows Update it says I have no updates pending but it was interesting that every time I've run the Media Creation Tool it puts an entry in my update log that says the update failed. The fact is the upgrade has not failed in the normal sense only the Media Creation Tool failed.
My concern is that I have a reservation for the upgrade but that too might fail so I'd like to get my desktop upgraded to Windows 10 asap.

Upgrade of Win7 HP laptop -- not usual failure code. Upgrade done through Windows Update (copy was reserved). Gets to 24%, restarts, bring up Recovery screen, fails with 0xc0000f -- a required device isn't connected.
Only one physical drive in the laptop -- works fine under Win7.
Have seen threads about problems with System Reserved being too small for Win10 (200MB for Win7 vs. 450MB for Win8). Tried shrinking C: and resizing System Reserved.
Repeats above problems -- plus, leaves laptop in weird mode with Win10 partially installed, a new Recovery partition, and nothing working (meaning, Win7 won't boot anymore).
Am now trying option of installing from DVD, after merging boot stuff into C: partition and removing System Reserved -- figuring that if Win10 requires a System Reserved partition, it knows how to create one the right size.

I tried updating my Win8.1 to Win10 twice.
The first time, it hung at 26% total, 89% copying files. Then it bricked my system completely so I made a clean install of Windows 8.1. There was nothing else installed than Windows & Updates.
Tried to update it with a stick made by the Media Creation Tool --> Stuck at 23%, 77% copying files.
I tried everything: Disabled Network Adapter, pulled all Cables (only mouse left) out, I also detached my second HDD.
I am trying to install Win10 on my SSD (Samsung 830 Pro, 130GB). I am running a Z77 Chipset.
I'd love to install completely new with the Image but that doesn't work because of the activation later on..
I'm stuck with a fresh Windows 8.1 install now, that's not really what I wanted. I'd love to update to 10 since I had it as a Insider too.
