Aug 2, 2015I tried upgrading my windows 7, but failed 5 times.
step 1 on copying files are 100%
step 2 installing features n updates are 100%
step 3 FAILED, it stuck on black screen and freeze, nothing i can do besides force restart and its restored to my windows 7 back.
It's always stuck at 75% step 2 and when go to step 3 is freeze ( 5 times in row, I'm thinking give up or buy new laptop with windows 10)... I'm currently downloading ISO file to blank DVD hopefully it's works....

Dec 19, 2015So, after having this problem for a few months I decided it was time i asked. Whenever I restart my pc for any reason, it just gets stuck on the black screen right before power off. Everything else still works fine, even when I update I just wait a few minutes then hard reset. But this is getting annoying especially when I have the updates that need multiple restarts because I have to sit there and watch it.

Jan 7, 2016I recently started getting a black screen when trying to turn on my laptop, a Sony Vaio running Windows 10. I am unable to download the DM log collector tool since I cannot use my computer at all. It stays on the black screen even if I let it sit for hours. It's possible that I backed up a Windows 10 file when originally upgrading from WIN7 but I'm not sure and if so, it would be on an external hard drive.

So I upgraded W7 to W10 via iso. Install made it all the way.
On reboot it's now suck on the black background, windows logo and spinning dots.
Updates :: Black Screen No Cursor After Update On Fresh Installation
Dec 6, 2015So basically, I've been dealing with this issue ever since I've upgraded to windows 10 months ago. I've done disk checks sata port checks almost everything under the sun and still have not found a solution to my problem.
Months ago, anytime my computer was shut down for more than an hour or 2 I would encounter an interesting unique problem. After booting and loading the bios screen, the next screen would be black and would hang there and I would have to hard reset and try again. I would keep having to hard reset until it would boot into the Windows Boot Manager and from there I would hit the Reset button or go to the advanced settings, and hit continue to windows 10 and it would from there boot into windows successfully.
Now you must be thinking "Simple work around! Simply boot into the Windows Boot Manager every time you shut down your computer and easily but annoyingly bootleg boot into windows 10 everytime using the Boot Manager options" and I thought the same. Unfortunately unless I let my computer get to the boot manager by hard resets at that black screen I cant get windows 10 to boot.
I've reinstalled windows 10 again for the 2nd time on a new ssd in hopes that it was a drive issue but that does not seem to be the case, This is my second install of windows 10 on this ssd. This time I've installed windows HOME instead of Pro.

There is now something I'm going to call "The Event" After a fresh install my windows 10 will freeze however i can move my mouse but no keyboard commands work and I from this point have to force reset my computer, AFTER i FORCE RESET when my computer is shut down for a couple of hours i encounter the boot problem. so this "EVENT" has something to do with whats causing this issue.
The Event was different when windows 10 was installed on my 1TB HDD, everything would lock up rather then being able to use my mouse and it would force reset on its own.

Jul 29, 2015I was installing windows 10 (8.1 before) on my Dell inspiron 15 7000 series (7537), and it progressed to restarting after the installing drivers step, but after the restart and going through the dell startup screen, everything went black. The HDD light is stuck on and not flickering like it normally does.
There is no cursor or anything on the screen, it's just black. I waited for an hour and nothing changed, so I thought maybe it was frozen, so I restarted the computer via hard reset, which took it to a "attempting to recover update" screen, but after a few seconds on that screen it went immediately back to the black screen.
Its been about 30 min since that hard restart and its still black, HDD light still on, and nothing seems to be happening.

Today when doing some maintenance on her Lenovo x1 carbon it upgraded to the Win 10 pro from home on it's own, once this completed and restarted it will boot up to where I can access the bios or recovery, but the normal boot just displays a black screen with the curser and circle blinking. Dec 23, 2015I was using my laptop last night and got off and decided to go to bed. At this point it was still working fine. When I woke up, it was installing an update and I decided to let it finish. After the update was complete, it went to a lack screen, which I thought was weird.
So I restarted and it went to the boot screen, which leads me to the problem I've been having since. It would show Lenovo and the boot screen until it would blink to black a few times before showing me the boot screen for some more time at a lower frame rate until the screen would appear black. I can still use everything and even log in and hear the skype startup sound. Everything works fine. Is there an easy fix to this or should I wait until the next Windows update?
I have lots of progress on the computer that I cannot lose. I do not know much about the inside of a Lenovo ideapad z510 so I could not take out the battery. I am desperate and have tried anything and everything online. Something has to work.

KB 3105210 states "waiting for download" and KB 3106932 states "waiting for installation" It has been stuck on this for several hours and my attempts to use the repair tools have failed to resolve the problem.

Windows update has been stuck at 45% for the last 3 hour's and usually my updates go pretty quick. Aug 30, 2015I've been trying to update my windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for at least 10 times now and it always stuck at around 60% It reboots itself a few times and it always comes back to the circle screen with the % progress but getting around 60% it reboots and it gets stuck there... black screen, no cursor, no sound.
I've tried to plug it into a secondary screen thru hdmi but nothings happens; also I've uninstalled my antivirus since I've read it might be the problem but it didn't work..
