View 6 RepliesCan I use classic icons on the start page instead of tiles? I do not like the tiles.
View 6 RepliesAfter signing in on W10 sign in page, start up screen comes up but just keeps flashing, no icons on bottom task bar, curser has revolving blue circle, left click and right click has no effect. The only thing I can do is "control/alt/del to bring up the task manager. Tried rebooting numerous times to no avail. Tried disconnecting modem and computer and restarting, no luck. Appears that W10 is installed but seems to be hung up on start page. Unable to access anything. If I press the F1 key sometimes icons appear momentarily on the task bar but then they disappear and cannot bring them back up.
View 1 RepliesThe tiles I've put on the start page for various apps (all resized to small) and arranged in groups are rearranging themselves randomly and resizing to medium each time I reboot. I can't find any reason for this. Also, is it possible to start more than one app at a time using the tiles? I've tried searching here and using Google but nothing at all comes up.. It's a clean install after upgrading.
View 1 RepliesI have windows 10 home operating system on my laptop.I have a problem with my file folder. when I first open it it shows that it works fine. However I've notice that on the left I see the OS and D drive as white icons. When i access any folders and then go back to the home file page it looks like this: and when i access other files they show empty folders (this is the program files folders)but i know this folders have files in them. Also when I access them i see white icons like this:I can open them and they work fine but my file folder is acting weird.
View 9 RepliesWin 10 installation went smoothly and yes it runs faster than Win 7 Ultimate..BUT.......I do not like the Start Page with its apps and stuff I don't need.
What I do need is a start menu with all my programs so I can get back to work.
Can I change this to what I had in Win 7?
I am using window 10 on my venue pro 8. when i try to pin a web page to my start screen nothing happens. How to do it.
View 2 RepliesSo some one keeps frogetting to clock in when he gets back to his desk from lunch.(me)
Start up at boot isn't going to work, because I just lock my computer and dont shut down.
As I now have icons only on the start page and nothing on my desktop, how can I skip opening on desktop and open directly on the start page?
View 5 RepliesFollowing search results, I have tried the "scannow" and 'reinstall all Windows apps' suggestions. Scannow found no errors, and reinstalling Windows apps did nothing to work. When I click on the Start button (that usually brings up the Programs Menu, I get the little twirling blue icon for about 5 or 6 seconds, then... nothing. Cortana is dead, or away on vacation.
BTW, all my Taskbar program icons work, all the system tray icons (except 'Notifications') work, and a right click on the Start button brings up the usual context menu. Also, I tried installing Start10, but that didn't work either.
Windows seems to start normally, then keeps going back to the login page. Is it possible to lock yourself out of Windows 10?
View 1 RepliesWhy does download put tiles for apps on Start page that I never had?????
View 1 RepliesI have a desktop computer, it was working fine almost a year and now from a few days I am having a serious issue and that is when using my computer (generally or during gaming) it displays an error i.e PAGE_FAULT_FOUND_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA. The screen turns pink and the edges are green (that's probably because of the resolution as I use 3840x2160 so the error kinds of destorts) but that's not the real issue, the main problem is the error itself.
My Computer specifications :
Intel i7 4790
Asus Maximus VII Formula ROG
Kingston 8GBx2 DD3 Ram (Simple ones, not the gaming ones)
1TBx2 Seagate HDD
Asus GeForce Titan X
Corsair CX850M.
Just downloaded window 10 and I can't get passed this page! It keeps on crashing when I try to press anything. It will reset and reload this page.
View 1 RepliesAlthough my printer will print a test page which says that it is working correctly since installing windows 10 I am unable to print anything else because when I try to print the page ie pictures or anything from my computer it is copied to my document only. I have reinstalled the printer and also re installed win 10
View 5 RepliesI keep getting a "Can't Reach this Page" tab at top. Also, I have an Etsy On-Line store, which worked perfectly until I upgraded to Win 10. Now it is sooooo slow to load anything, switch between pages, etc, (plus this "Can't Read Page" pops up). I ran a SFC/scannow and it said everything checked out fine.
View 3 RepliesI have an Asus N73J Laptop running Windows 8.1. I have attempted (numerous times) to install Windows 10 but it always errors at about 32% completion with the BSOD - Page Fault in Nonpaged Area (Portcls.sys). I have noted and tried almost all of the fixes others have had success with but alas, I am frustrated and disappointed by the continued troubles I am having. I am assuming that the problems stem from failed driver updates (see attached jpg) but I have been unable to correct this situation.I tried to insert the setupact log file but unfortunately it is too large for download.
View 3 RepliesI'm currently running Windows 7 Pro on a Lenovo ThinkPad.
I have the Get Windows 10 icon showing. When I click it, it takes me to the Upgrade Now button. So far so good.
When I click the Upgrade Now button, I get the starting to download screen with the circle dots. After a few seconds, it then takes me to the Windows 7 'Windows Update' page in the control panel, where it says that 'windows is up to date'. And that's it.
How to get Windows 10 to upgrade? I've done other laptops without issue.
I recently made a clean install of Windows 10. However when I reboot I noticed that the Wi-Fi tray icon wasn't showing any menu. I click it and nothing happened. No list was shown, the only way to connect was to go to This PC Configuration --- Internet & Networks --- Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi tray icon, battery and volume don't work. I don't know what to do. I search about it and found something about resetting explorer.exe, I try that but didn't work.
I just installed Windows 10 and its nice and all, just that the icons in the start menu and the system settings for programs are broken.
What I mean? This is a screenshot: [URL] ...
All of a sudden the battle.net, chrome and evernote lost it's icons but they still work.
View 1 RepliesJust got Windows 10 a few hours ago. I don't see how you pin icons for programs to the LEFT side of the start menu. I can pin things to the right side, but I don't want those tiles.
View 9 RepliesIs it possible to ad a web site icon/tile to the start window.
For some reason the google web site icon is there, but I would like to add a few more of web sites I frequently visit.
The right click on a web site URL does not give the option of creating a tile/icon on the start menu.
I can't open the start menu and I don't know why. The only thing I can do to it is right-click, nothing else. I cannot left-click it or even use the windows button. Also, there are two of my apps - Store and Microsoft Edge - have a blank icon. I can't open them nor unpin them to the taskbar.
If you look at the taskbar the blank icons are between media player and google chrome.
I want to start using my start menu, but I don't remember how to add icons back. I tried to just drag them but that doesn't work. Also, they just all disappeared randomly. Not sure why. [URL] ...
View 1 RepliesSince my upgrade from windows 7, all my start menu icons are blank. I've tried deleting the icon cache.db file,
