Jan 22, 2016The firm in which I work has a Lenovo PC with Windows 10 installed. There are two user profiles on the computer, the admin and another normal account without administration rights. We have only the password of the account without administrator rights.
The network administrator had left the company surprisingly in without giving the administrator password of the PC and we cannot contact him anymore.
Now we want to install another programme and we cannot do this without an administrator account.
I disabled secure boot and have tried to boot the PC with an Linux USB Stick, but it do not boot from the stick.
how I either can reset the password of the administrator account or create an new account with administrator rights.

Got this computer on HSN last November didn't open till xmas. In set up thought it was odd I ended up with a sign-on of just using a "pin". Wondered why it didn't take the password I wanted (and have since no recollection of what it was) . Anyway now I realize that it's saved password for the administrator password so when that was needed.
so here I am I keep getting a screen it's telling me wrong password and then having a very frustrating time. needing to get back in the computer so I can fix it as I have a virus .
also just loaded all my important files and data and get his computer and had not gotten to the point of backing up that I was still very much in the initial set up how I wanted things to be .
I am hoping there is a resolved to this without losing everything
Lost Local Admin Password?
Dec 22, 2015I recently gave one of my work laptops to an employee to use a a job over the last few weeks, so I deactivated my Windows Live and created a local account. I for the life of me can not remember the password, I did a little bit of Googling and I keep seeing paid softwares on how to get it fixed. The unit doesn't require a password to boot up so the device is still usable.
Is there anyway that I can remove, reset, or retrieve the password without a paid software?

Now, I've decided I'd like to use them. So, I went in and added my pswd, and I even added my PIN, but it still won't give me access to those features.

Dec 15, 2015My wife's laptop upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 several months ago. As soon as it finished she lost access to her old files. And we didn't remember the admin passwords. I created a new account for her. But she needs her old files......emails,recipes,etc. Then we were out of the country for a month.I am not very computer literate. I've probably spent 60-70 hours trying to learn because of this problem. I stumbled through Ophcrack with no luck. I used the Utilman reset last week. I reset the 2 local admin passwords to blank and created a new admin account. There was another administrator account that I couldn't reset. I don't know if it is a higher authority or what.
The new Local Account Administrator I created seems to have limitations. Some things I've tried,it responds I don't have permission. I changed my wife's acct from admin to user.I thought I would be able to reset her password. It doesn't give me that option.

Dec 3, 2015So, a while back I had a problem on the Windows 10 Home Edition where it would not let me change my lock screen. Since I didn't have the pro edition, I couldn't change the policy in the registry editor because of a lack of one, so I transferred all my files to a local account. I then had the problem of programs asking me to enter my admin password every time I wanted to access certain protected programs, so I disabled the admin password so this would no longer happen. I then deleted the account which was considered the program and went on with my normal business on my PC.
Later, I restarted my PC, and when I went to login, it said my password was incorrect for my local account. I then went into my boot options, opened command prompt in safe mode and changed my admin password. I then restarted my PC and now I don't even have the option to login at all, coming up with the error message "Your account has been disabled. Please see your system administrator." Now this problem usually fixed by holding shift and pressing restart to access boot options, but I cannot do this.
Every time I press OK to go back to the lock screen, it instantly goes back to the administrator message, meaning I can't boot anything. I planned on doing a complete reinstall of Windows 10 using a bootable usb iso, but since I can't boot it, this isn't possible, unless I'm missing something such as a key allowing me to launch the boot options from launch, although I've tried keys such as f8 to no avail.

Apr 3, 2015I just upgraded a new laptop to Windows 10 with the latest build. Everything was great until I rebooted after uninstalling some bloatware and now I can't get back into Windows. The login screen comes up and the only user account (admin) is listed, but there is no where to enter the password. This has be baffled.
I've been trying to get into safe mode, but the HP Envy 15 that I'm using doesn't seem to want to let me do that.

Dec 18, 2015I already have my pc updated with windows 10, I recently upgraded my hard drive with a samsung 850 pro ssd but i discovered that my recovery partition no longer works and when i try to do a system image windows says it cannot do it because files are missing . I used the samsung data migration software that came with my ssd, when i go to disk management it shows my three partitions which are
500mb recovery partition
260mb efi system partition
windows c 476.18 gb ntfs , boot,page file, crash dump, primary partition
My question is if I do a clean install of windows 10 will these partitions be created again during the windows 10 installation automatically or will I loose some . I want to be able to recover my pc should I need to and have everything working. Someone suggested that I don't need a recovery partition and windows 10 does not create new partitions .
I don't know what the efi system partition is and don't know if i need it . i have watched some youtube videos of people doing clean installs of windows 10 and they all seem to differ . during installation when given the choice of where to install windows some people delete all the partitions on their hard drive while others pick which one .

Oct 31, 2015I had a kali linux installed in my computer. Then I tried to install Windows 10 using a bootable USB drive. (I created it by downloading the windows 10 ISO and then creating USB drive using Rufus.) But when I was trying to install windows 10, it shows my hard drive, but it doesn't installing to it. Error message is the following:

I know that right ? USB disk is the boot disk here. Then I searched in the internet for a solution.

I followed all the instructions there. Cleaned my hard disk using DISKPART and formatting and stuff. Then I rebooted my machine. But, still it shows the same error.

Kind of like adding a rule to CC a copy of each email they send to another account but the problem is that they are able to see the email ID to which it is being sent. So my question is that I want to silently BCC emails without anyone knowing.

Nov 12, 2015Ok so i am furious with Micro$oft now! the other day i was FORCED to change my microsoft account after much nagging i did so and i dont like changing logins too much. (this was a week ago)
now for some random reason on earth without my permission my windows login also changed login passwords to the microsoft account. I DONT WANT THAT! that password is too long and complicated for someone who locks his computer every 5 minutes or so. why did this just kick in now? i changed M$ account pass over a week ago and today it decides to change windows login?! can i change JUST my local windows login separate from microsoft login?
if i try to change pass from settings it it goes online and says you cant use password that has been used before.

Aug 22, 2015Whenever I try to install a 64 bit Windows 10 copy from a flash drive, I get stuck on the 4 blue squares, with no white dots spinning. Then after about 10 seconds the PC restarts. I have tried the official way with the media creation tool, I have tried just downloading the ISO and using a third party bootable USB maker, I have tried ISO's from pirate sites (yes, I know, not the best solution) but none of those worked. Every time I tried a different method I always fully formatted the USB drive. Oddly enough the 32 bit version worked once or twice but even that doesn't work anymore. My PC specs are quite good so I really don't know what's the issue. Btw im running a 120 GB AData SSD and a 1 TB Seagate hard drive.

One complication though is that I'm running on an old harddrive. One of those simple SATA disks.
I got my hands on a new SSD disk which I would prefer to have windows on.
So, How could I in the simplest way get windows 10 and have it installed on my new SSD?

Feb 29, 2016Even though my computer worked fine before I left for my vacation, I still saw the following screen after I returned immediately when I turned it on.
I put in my windows 10 installation usb drive and press F12 for the boot menu.And this screen comes up.
I choose the bottom one(the windows 10 installation usb drive) and the following error screen comes up.

Installation :: Partition Hard Drive To Install Windows 7?
Aug 12, 2015I've already upgraded to Windows 10 on my desktop PC, and there were no issues with the upgrade. However, I work from home and my work has informed me that they won't accept Windows 10, they will only accept 7 or 8.1 as their operating system (they also only accept Internet Explorer for browsing, etc.). So I can either downgrade, which I really don't want to do, buy a second PC, which I can't afford to do, or (I'm hoping) create a new partition and run Windows 7 from that.
So my question is, is it possible to create a new partition for Windows 7 while running Windows 10 on my main partition? Will I have to downgrade and install Windows 10 later? Or can I do it from Windows 10 already?
Installation :: Added SSD Drive For Windows Only But Desktop Keeps Booting From Old HD
Apr 14, 2016So I've recently bought an SSD Drive soley for the purpose of running Windows. The original Hard Drive was a 2TB Samsung drive that I have since formatted and using for Storage only. Installed Windows 10 on the SSD and the machine is working great, boots up in aound 10 seconds from turning the machine on.
Now heres my issue. For some reason if i turn my PC on and do nothing it will show the message no operating system found press ctrl, alt + del to restart. This is because its still looking to my original 2TB Drive to boot up. So basically I have to tap F something everytime i turn my machine on and select the SSD from the list.
Here is where things get weird. I have gone into the bios and have the choice of what the machine boots up with, so again i can select my SSD. The problem is the section where I can set the boot order default is only showing my 2TB Hard drive and the Blu-Ray drive, the SSD doesnt appear in that list. So it appears in one time boot options but not in the boot priority list so I cant set it as the default Drive.

I am getting "You don't have permission to save in this location" messages when trying to look at the Local Users and Groups console or save files.I can not download/ save (do not get the save dialog at the bottom of Edge (or IE for that matter)).Also I am not able to do the "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead" procedure in the "Your account" window. Nothing happens when I fill in my email and click.
I want my control back, of the Laptop. How do I solve this?
Installation :: Can't Migrate Windows To A Smaller Drive Without Losing Files
Nov 20, 2015I have Windows 10 on a 2TB HDD with about 1TB of the HDD full. I would like to migrate Windows to an 80GB SSD but I can't find anyway to do this without cloning the entire drive, which I can't do because there is too much content on the HDD. Is there any way to migrate Windows to a different drive whilst keeping all user files and installed applications on the old drive so I can have two drives in my system, the SSD for boot and the HDD for storage and applications.

Oct 19, 2015Just when I was happy with my installation I error checked my main C: drive with is a Samsung SSD, Windows reported that it had found some errors and it needed to be rebooted to correct them. I rebooted the PC and the check disk did it's repairs and it booted back in to Windows. I noticed straight away that the start menu had stopped working and when I opened Windows Explorer or did anything within it (like right click properties) or any settings windows like control panel it would take for ever. Opening programs like Internet Explorer work fine.
I have tried System Restoring to before I did the drive repair and sfc /scannow and Dism/Online/Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth but I still have the problems. The SFC found errors and corrected them but still no Start Menu.
I do have a Trueimage backup from Last Friday which I will have to use if I cannot sort this out. Yesterday due to a on going occasional BSD I had fully uninstalled my Nvidia Geforce Video drivers using a utility that was recommended to me on this forum, I then reinstalled the drivers and it had been fine up until I did the Scan for errors so I don't think it's nothing to do with that.
