I have made several attempts to upgrade my desktop from 8.1 to 10. Each time the install freezes at the "copying files = 3%" point. When I reboot the system returns to my 8.1 setup and shows the above code with this explanation. "Installation failed in SAFE_OS phase with an error during APPLY_IMAGE operation"

Restarted and the overall install is 18% (blue ring has disappeared) and the Copying Files step is stuck on 63%. Been like that for 15-20 minutes or so. Should I wait it out or try to shut my Surface off?

View 2 RepliesI had reserved a copy of windows 10 and i was able to download it through windows update. once it is downloaded i was asked to restart for updating. copying files stuck at 0% for 5 min and windows 7 ultimate x64 rolls back.
I can even see an error message in windows update page shows Windows 10 Pro installation failed error 80070006
Followed the tutorial, extracted the iso. Ran set up. How long should I let it stay at 0%
View 3 RepliesI tried updating my Win8.1 to Win10 twice.
The first time, it hung at 26% total, 89% copying files. Then it bricked my system completely so I made a clean install of Windows 8.1. There was nothing else installed than Windows & Updates.
Tried to update it with a stick made by the Media Creation Tool --> Stuck at 23%, 77% copying files.
I tried everything: Disabled Network Adapter, pulled all Cables (only mouse left) out, I also detached my second HDD.
I am trying to install Win10 on my SSD (Samsung 830 Pro, 130GB). I am running a Z77 Chipset.
I'd love to install completely new with the Image but that doesn't work because of the activation later on..
I'm stuck with a fresh Windows 8.1 install now, that's not really what I wanted. I'd love to update to 10 since I had it as a Insider too.
I have tried to upgrade from win7 to win10 after copying the files and the system restarts, I will get the error 0xc000000f. I have both win7 and win10 disks and the automatic repair would not work.
Apparently this has to to with some bios settings, I have tried to follow the guide but I do not have all the options to described in the guide below.

I have a gaming rig I bought a month ago. It wasn't set up right, so I'm formatting the drives and starting from scratch. I'm trying to copy 60GB of stuff to a external drive before I wipe it. It's been going for about 6 hours now and stuck at 99%. It says that there is 0 bites remaining, and 25 seconds. It's stuck there and won't change. Should I just cancel it, because 0 bites are remaining I assume everything is there.
View 1 RepliesIs there a rugged copy program that can copy a partially corrupted file (*.mpg) from a CD/DVD onto your H/D? What happens is that when the normal windows copy operation encounters that portion of the DVD that is faulty, it tries over and over again (endlessly, it seems) and then just hangs and I have to reboot, forcing that irritating wait for it to scan the C and D drives on reboot. This occurs with any program I try that attempts to read the entire file from the DVD, such as PowerDVD, windows explorer copy, Media Player, windvd, dos copy, etc. I assume it is because a cluster with a faulty cyclic check is encountered, and the windows read operation can't just accept the data anyway and proceed, but, instead, keeps on trying to reread and getting the same cyclic error over and over again.
What I need is a read option that "accepts" the error, transfers the bad cluster as it came across (errors and all), and then continues until it reaches end of data. I get this when some of my home-recorded mpg movies hang up somewhere in the middle, but, if I know in advance and skip over the bad part, the remainder of the movie plays just fine. I need a program that will ignore the cyclic error and just go on. I know we had this back when I did mainframe programming (the ACCEPT option), so I wonder if there is any windows program that does the same for mpeg files on CD's or DVD"s.
With Windows 8, if I copy files or folders from one disk to another, a window appears which shows the progress. This is very useful. Windows 10 does not show this window. Is there a way to make it appear?
View 3 RepliesWith Win7 I used to open one external drive, then through My computer locate the other drive. I would have each drive on its own window. I could then select relevant files on one drive copy and paste into the other drive. With Win10 if I click on File explorer I can open one external drive, where can I locate the other drive to put in a separate window. If I click on the other drive, it just opens it in the same window. Win7 and previous versions used to be so simple.

View 7 RepliesI just got a new 8tb external drive and this started happening. 2.5 gb file mkv..It'll have a burst of write speed completing 60-80% and then slow all the way to 0 and just trickle the rest, even though it fluctuates from as low as 5 up to 30-50mb until it's done.
View 2 RepliesI have Aspire V5-573G, which has all hardware requirements for Windows 10. The problem is when I tried to upgrade from windows 8.1 to 10 after 30%, the installation stops and roll backs to windows 8.1, I tried this 3 times and fed up. It gave me error "The installion failed in the FIRST_BOOT phrase with an error during BEGIN_FIRST_BOOT operation".
So I tried to do a clean install, I have booted to USB key, formatted hard drive, but it gave me error "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x800701E3". Both the way I couldn't install windows 10.
So I've recently discovered that I cannot install any MSI files on my Windows 10 system. I originally had this issue with Razer Synapse 2.0 which threw an Error 1500: There is another Installation in progress. I kind of gave up and forgot about it a few weeks ago, until I came across another MSI file that I have to install for school. Its a secure downloader for a Dreamspark program. Same issue. Throws a "There's another installation currently in progress" error. So it seems like the Windows installer service is corrupted, but of course on windows 10 I cant change anything about it from the services panel. Tried a bunch of solutions that seemed to work on previous OS's, but haven't had any success.

1.Try installing media using usb stick or dvd and
2.Go to the language preferences and select any language and press next
3.And click on repair your computer
I tried doing that and it says that contact your device administrator
Finally,i tried installing windows 10 pro which was download from Windows 10 and there was a slow progress in"Getting files ready for installation 1%,2%,3%............"and at 33% it showed an error that "Windows cannot install required file.Make sure all files required for installation are available,and restart the installation.
Error code: 0x8007045D". I burned the iso through "isotousb" software.
I deleted the win7.old folder is there another way to install win7 by removing win10 and still keep the files, since it's saying it will completely delete win10 and files and folders but I want to keep the files I have there
View 3 RepliesMy PC has downloaded all of the Windows 10 installation files in the $Windows.~BT folder, but I have not had any installation notices. How to initiate the installation?
I've read not to click the setup application in the $Windows.~BT folder as this will apparently make the files disappear.
Just a curiosity of mine - Is there a difference between a clean install and performing an upgrade while keeping only the files? In other words, is this sort of upgrade the same as a clean install, only with the files restored to 'documents', desktop, etc.? Or, does the new windows folder contain remnants of the previous install.

I've been facing a collection of annoying problems with my Windows 8.1, specifically setting saving problem, for example can't save settings like default app, folder and icon size, i didn't update to Win10 yet because i am working on very important projects.
My question is, do you think this kind of problems will be fixed after updating to Win10 by keeping all my files, programs, etc... ?Or should i do a clean installation of Win10 so my computer will be "system-new".

I'm having an odd issue with my new Windows 10 install. The first time I boot up my PC it freezes at the login screen, when you would normally click to bring up the user/password screen. The network icon in the bottom right shows a red x. If I shut down the PC by holding down the power button, and then start it again it works fine. Setting the PC to sleep and starting from there also works fine.
View 6 RepliesInstalling windows 10 as an upgrade from windows 7. Everything was looking good leading up to the install, genuine windows, no compatibility issues. The update downloads no problem, I select install now, it shuts down the computer and I get that glowing ring/progress bar that slowly moves up to 29% as it "copies files". Once the file copying is complete it reboots and I see the windows logo and the circle of moving dots. The dots do one rotation, then freeze. Nothing else happens.
Waited four hours, no change, no progress bar, no indication that anything is happening. I do a manual reboot, it resumes installation and hangs immediately. Reboot again and it restores windows 7.
Since late Sep 2015 updates, I have been getting random freezes when writing files to secondary HDD via Internet Download Manager and also freezes when deleting big file in that HDD.Things done to fix but failed:
1. update Internet Download Manager to latest version
2. replaced secondary HDD
3. reformat and install Win 10 on SSD
When I try to install Windows 10 update, the installation freezes at 91% Setting configuration. (67% overall). I do not get any error message. I have tried various ways, Clean boot, Media creation tool etc. I have left the computer 4 hours in case it was not frozen, even though I could not detect any HDD activity.
The machine does not revert back to windows 7 as it says it is doing, but instead I get a black scree telling me status 0xC000000e . "Info boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible." Looking this up it would seem to indicate the winload exe is missing or corrupt. I do not have any problem booting up my machine, normally, but was wondering, if it could be that, there is something wrong with my MBR and that is why, perhaps ( I am clutching at straws) windows 10 will not install.
The windows rescue disk, does not get me back, as when asking for a repair, there is no C drive showing, so I revert to my good old Acronis software. Without which I would be in big trouble.
During the first three attempts at installing windows 10, the process has frozen at 32% total installation and 6% on the "drivers and features" section. The entire process freezes and no animations play. No errors, after reboot from the freeze it just puts my OS back to Win 7.
