During the first three attempts at installing windows 10, the process has frozen at 32% total installation and 6% on the "drivers and features" section. The entire process freezes and no animations play. No errors, after reboot from the freeze it just puts my OS back to Win 7.
View 9 RepliesWhen I try to install Windows 10 update, the installation freezes at 91% Setting configuration. (67% overall). I do not get any error message. I have tried various ways, Clean boot, Media creation tool etc. I have left the computer 4 hours in case it was not frozen, even though I could not detect any HDD activity.
The machine does not revert back to windows 7 as it says it is doing, but instead I get a black scree telling me status 0xC000000e . "Info boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible." Looking this up it would seem to indicate the winload exe is missing or corrupt. I do not have any problem booting up my machine, normally, but was wondering, if it could be that, there is something wrong with my MBR and that is why, perhaps ( I am clutching at straws) windows 10 will not install.
The windows rescue disk, does not get me back, as when asking for a repair, there is no C drive showing, so I revert to my good old Acronis software. Without which I would be in big trouble.
I want to try my first Win10 upgrade on a seldom used "backup" PC. This PC is usually turned off. I bring it up for a couple hours each week to update malware definitions, apply maint, etc. In the Win 7 Task Scheduler I currently have gwx disabled. (I have it disables on 2 other Win7 boxes, too.) I assume my first step towards a Win10 update is to re-enable and start gwx. Hopefully that will let me request a Win10 update. (If it doesn't, I'm going to have more questions. )
But then what? I never really understood what would happen next. Does update start as soon as I request it, or does Microsoft schedule the download for some later date - sometime when the PC is likely to be shut off. All the doc I had read seemed to imply a later download, but all of the doc was written for pre-July 29 "reservation". how it works now?

View 3 RepliesWhen I try to install windows 10 into my newly built pc, everything goes normally... then it says that the pc need to reboot, and it does. After the reboot, the windows logo appears and it brings me back to the windows installation process.
View 1 RepliesI got this new pc for christmas which came with 8.1, which I hate. So I did the free 10 upgrade but now run into many new problems. Many of my favorite programs are not yet compadible. Discs burned from previous operating systems and usb drives formated for previous OS will not boot. Simply freezes computer when I insert them O.o. Also had some random crashes and I just wanna downgrade to 7 and be done with this so I can finally start using my new pc.
I enter a windows 7 64 bit ISO burned from a friend and again it just freezes the computer on load. So eventually I borrow my friends genuine windows 7 64 bit disc, and now when I try to load it gives the message "cannot install 32 bit version on ECF system" or something like that.Would I have better luck downgrading to 8 and then trying to get 7? Why is 10 recognizing this genuine 64 bit disc as a 32 bit version??
So yesterday I installed Windows 10 on my computer via Windows update. (First went here Home page - Windows Insider Program and followed the steps) It installed normally, after it was done I got the login screen.
I typed my password and pressed "next" but my computer just froze and restarted and kept doing it.
I re-installed Windows 7 today, will probably try Windows 10 later, but not currently.
Having an annoying problem where when I try and install a software package for a device the system hard locks during the driver installation phase. No BSOD, simply freezes at the same point during the installation. Doesn't do it for every device I've installed its only done it for my Avermedia C985 capture card and now for a D-Link USB WIFI stick.
I had to manually install the drivers for the capture card through the device manager. The USB stick is harder because I cant get the software separately to the driver so can't complete the installation.
I've tried disabling driver verification but that didn't work.
I have made several attempts to upgrade my desktop from 8.1 to 10. Each time the install freezes at the "copying files = 3%" point. When I reboot the system returns to my 8.1 setup and shows the above code with this explanation. "Installation failed in SAFE_OS phase with an error during APPLY_IMAGE operation"

View 2 RepliesI've tried downloading and installing Windows 10 via the System Update for the past 24 hours (I've tried it 5 separate times). Every time it gets to 84% overall, and 36% configuring settings, then goes to a black screen with nothing on it (including no cursor) and almost no HDD activity. This has happened all five times.

After reboot I always end unbootable (as we talk Apple computer it means 1) no partition on Option or 2) folder with ? or 3) just gray screen, make your pick). There's a chance that Windows rely on some UEFI 2.0 feature, which is not available as the old guy has 1.2 only. Or maybe I missed some step somewhere.
Upgrading from windows 7 to 10, started install at around 10:30am and left it....around 2:30pm it started the large circle with the % in the centre, and again left it for another hour or so and came back to a black screen, no cursor or anything.
I waited until about 7:30 and still nothing and did a reboot by holding the power button down. On restarting, I get the windows 10 logo with the spinning dots, and then it cuts to black with no cursor. The CPU light does what it would usually do on startup, and when it first cuts to black but then the screen seems to change to a different black (if that makes sense?!) and the light only blips extremely quickly with a long period before it blips again
i know this is another update gone wrong post but I can't seem to find any with the same problem, just similar ones. I've read it can take a long time, but it's been nearly 11 hours and is very frustrating!
i'm not mega pc savvy, I get 2 options when I boot, and I've looked and there's no option for me to do a safe boot, or to revert back go windows 7. If I leave it on black screen for too long it automatically goes into sleep mode.
Is it advisable to set the UEFI BIOS (Asus ROG Hero Maximus VI motherboard) to a factory default settings before installing Windows 10? Or should I at least set the memory "XMP" profile?
View 3 RepliesFor those people who CLEAN installed Win 10 using the Media Creation Tool, will it automatically update to Threshold-2 (version 1511 Build 10586.36) through Windows Update once installation had been completed? Or does that have to downloaded separately?
And what is the "KB" Number for version 1511 Threshold-2?
i'm having an issue with my laptop, i think it's something called a memory leak because my RAM won't go below 80% even when my laptop is idle. I've been searching the internet for answers on how to fix this problem but didn't find any luck. I've already wasted an entire day trying to figure out how to fix this, I even tried to do a system restore but i forgot to save any restore points. I'm hoping Resetting/Refreshing would be the answer but i'm facing another problem; My media installation tool or USB Bootable Drive (I don't know if they're the same. It's what i used when i installed Windows 10) is that of a previous Windows 10 version & build. Would it work If i use it to Reset my laptop? I'm currently using the latest version, build 10586.36.
View 1 RepliesI recently made a clean install of Windows 10. However when I reboot I noticed that the Wi-Fi tray icon wasn't showing any menu. I click it and nothing happened. No list was shown, the only way to connect was to go to This PC Configuration --- Internet & Networks --- Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi tray icon, battery and volume don't work. I don't know what to do. I search about it and found something about resetting explorer.exe, I try that but didn't work.
I have 2 seperated (physically) SSD drives in my laptop.Previously I had windows 8.1 on one drive, and I installed windows 7 and upgraded it to windows 10 on the other SSD drive.I enjoyed windows 10, so I formatted the drive with the windows 8.1, but now suddenly my laptop says he can't find system drive, and I can't load the windows 10, althogh it was installed with no connection to the windows 8.1 and on another drive.
View 5 RepliesI have been trying for hours to install windows 10 home on my newly built PC but i can't because there is a problem. I bought the usb version since i don't have an optical drive bay.
The problem: I can start the setup, but when i launch the installation my pc suddenly restarts and boots the usb again, so i get back at the 32/64 bit selection screen. This happens when i click "next" after choosing my drive (see included video). The drive i'm using is a Samsung 850 EVO SSD.
I have tried numerous things to fix it including: removing the ram (2x8GB) and putting it back, trying with one ram stick, removing the graphics card and use the integrated graphics card, use different usb ports, use different sata ports, removing the hdd (i can't even start the setup with the hdd plugged in).
I also downloaded Windows 10 from the official website and put it on an other usb stick, the same problem occurs.
I even tried with Ubuntu and the same problem happens!! When i launch the installation my pc reboots and the setup restarts!

The download of w10 got completed and the installation after 95% restarts and says restoring your previous version. now it is again downloading the 2700 MB.
View 1 RepliesI currently plan on doing a clean install on a new ssd of Windows 10. My current mobo is a ASUS P8z68-V which has UEFI so I plan on doing a UEFI installation of Windows 10. However, I plan on getting a new processor and motherboard sometime in the future, so would I have to do a reinstall of Windows 10 when I get my new motherboard, or could I expect it to boot up normally as would a traditional BIOS system would work?

I've lost - after having installed an application Screencamera - the possibility to boot to Windows 10 (even in Safe node!) so in order to regain access to it I'd try to make a repair installation; the tutorial I've read here is for a repair from within windows; I wonder how to do the same (or how to fix) from outside it?

View 6 RepliesI just installed Windows 10 over my Windows 7 Pro installation. Everything seemed to go well. I can see most of my stuff migrated (background, start menu items, etc.). BUT one thing that I was sure should migrate didn't - my Internet Explorer Favorites are nowhere to be found in the Windows 10 installation.
It took some digging, but I discovered that IE is still installed in Windows 10. Clicking the ... button gives you the option to "open with Internet Explorer".
To migrate your favorites from IE to Edge, click the ... button in Edge and go to Settings. You will have an option to "Import favorites from another browser" - and IE is one of the "other browsers" available.
I have just downloaded Windows 10 and it says "preparing for Installation" and is taking too long.
