Installation :: Keeps Reverting To Password Protected?
Jan 14, 2016
How do I get rid of the password when I start Windows 10? I have successfully done that a few times but it keeps reverting to password protected. I have used windows+R to get to netplwiz.exe and when that didn't work, I went on to regedit and followed the directions at [URL]..... It worked initially but now I'm back to having to use a password after the computer was put in sleep mode. Why does it keep reverting?
So I have Windows 10 and want to get rid of the password protected login feature. I found some steps on this site which are vaguely "On your windows 10 Start menu window, right click at the Win logo > select Run option > in the Run box type netplwiz > OK > follow the prompts. Restart Win 10."
Did that. On restart, I didn't need a password. Naturally, I thought the problem was solved. Nope. When the computer goes to sleep, I need to enter a password to re-open it; when it is turned off or restarted, I don't need a password.
I have a Windows 10 PC, with one of it's functions being that of a file server/NAS for my home network. I set it up with password protected sharing and a user account/password that everyone knows and uses to access it. I didn't really have any reason to use password protected sharing at the time, but it was the default so I left it.
Now I have a couple of network streaming devices that can't handle password protected sharing, so I was considering turning it off. Is there any reason not to turn off password protected sharing on a private network? Obviously I don't mind everyone on the network having access, but I was wondering if it had any other potential security benefits that I haven't thought of.
Last night I wiped out my ASUS T100 tablet to clean install TH2. But there is a 7GB Recovery partition from Windows 8.1 that I can't get rid off using Diskpart.
I had just installed windows 10 on my pc. I just want to know,if i go back to windows 8.1 will the installed applications that I had on windows 8.1 still be installed if i revert back to my previous windows 8.1.
When I installed windows 10 I used an installation disk and not the upgrade option. The previous windows I had was windows Single Language and the one I have now is Windows Pro.
My father hit yes to upgrad his HP Probook 6407b from Windows 7 to Win 10. He did not realize what he was saying yes to.He brought it to me before it finsihed. I got into win 10, but then had issues with HP security software at boot. It would hang at boot, say something about a finger print reader, and then allow me to log in. So I decided to revert back to win 7. that failed. Goes to try a startup repair and it does not work. It looks like win 7 trying to do it and not 10.
Is there any way to recover either win 7 or 10?I tried a win 10 usb drive, but it says the upgrade was previously started in windows, turn off machine and restart, but that fails.
Following Windows 10 upgrade, copy protected DVDs will not play (I receive a "DVD: copy-protected failed" message). The DVDs that are not copy-protected play and both types of DVDs played before the Windows 10 install.
DVD-RW are re-writable correct? I tired to format it and it said i couldn't because of write protection is there any way I can remove the write protection on it?
Got caught by this sneaky Windows 10 downloading to my laptop. This download created a new partition on my harddrive as a protected system drive. I have tried to take ownership of this new partition with no success, I have tried to restore to a previous date with no success - it fails. How I can remove this partition from my hdd?
I have upgraded to 10. I have Outlook on my task bar and when I open it it opens just fine but if I do something in Outlook like delete an email, it reverts back down to the task bar (it is still open mind you). Same with file manager - say I delete a file then it also reverts to the task bar but again in an open state. I have to click on it again in order to bring it up on screen. My preference is that my app stays on the screen until I have finished with it.
i have upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 recently, and one day my pc crashed (black screen) so i had to force restart it (the button on the tower). After that, my Profile user got corrupted, and several issues (common for the Windows 10) appeared. (Like: Windows 10 start menu taskbar icons wont respond, Calculator no longer works (You'll need a new app to open this calculator) message, and the view in all the folders reverts to (details) no matter where i change it to (i had it on tiles, and every time i close the folder window and i reopen it, its on Details).
Anyway... i got sick of these problems, and the only solution i had was to create a new profile and abandon my current corrupted one. But i really want to avoid this option because its a new start over, and there are too much apps and programs that i have to reinstall, along with all the folders i have to transfer.
So i wanted to try to revert back to windows 7, and then re-upgrade to windows 10. That would fix the corrupted user. But it seems like there is another issue i have here. When i go to settings -> update & security -> recovery -> Go back to windows 7, and i start the process, my pc make 2 restarts and at the second one, it doesnt continue the downgrade, but it boots the Windows 10 again! It wont let me go back to windows 7. It just reboots...
I have been trying to set my Windows 10 Home 64-bit computer to index only the Start Menu but not anything else (such as IE Favourites, Documents). I know exactly where all my documents are; the only time I use search is something like, I press the Win key, and type in cmd, or ccleaner, etc. So I really only need Windows to index the start menu.
However, every time after reboot, if I go into Indexing Options they will just revert back to default. Is there a way I can make the changes stick?
I downloaded windows 10 from Microsoft windows website and I installed it but I thought of reverting back to windows 7 and so I did. The windows 7 boot up logo showed up but got stuck in between the boot logo. then the windows startup fixing program would be recommended for me and I did it but failed to fix the boot up error. and i cant even start windows from the safe mode as well. So what do i do to bring back windows 7 back up. and which one windows is good 7 or 8 or 8.1 and sure that i wouldn't wanna go back to 10. so how do i start up windows again?? Yeah i guess i will have to make a bootable USB or DVD drive. I would like to go for usb but not sure how to create one bootable usb drive.
So, I did a custom install on my laptop to Windows 10. I will like to know if it is possible for me to revert back to my previous windows version using the recovery discs I created?
Somewhat unusual situation here. A machine running the latest build (11102) got badly infected by malware. It was such a major attack that I was about to reload the earlier day's image from my Windows Home Server. But it seemed even easier to revert to the previous build, not yet removed from the Windows.old folder. This I did, and everything soon was running fine as expected.
The issue is that the Updates check is not offering Build 11102 again. This isn't a showstopper; I'm sure there will be another newer build soon. But it would be nice to be back up on this latest build, just as all my other Win10 machines are running.
So I'm having a minor issue where my Windows 10 lock screen image keeps reverting back to one of the default ones Microsoft provides located in C:Windowsweb. The image it keeps selecting is Image 101. It seems to happen on my Surface 3 while charging over night.
I recently purchased support from reimage. It was fixing problems then asked to restart in safemode. Now I can't get in because it says incorrect password. Im connected to the internet but it says it isn't....
What's wrong with this PC when using Windows 10?This is happens when I'm fresh boot like Shut Down & turn on again/restart the PC.Documents, Picture, Music, & all of them! They keep revert back to without my name & access it to Full Control!I can't save my work, i can't open my VMWare, at least until I'm check the permission on C:Users(My name) & add my name 2 Full Control it. This step need 2 be repeated everytime i restart/turn on my laptop. But this won't happen on my big PC & my parents PC which both PC also running Windows 10 Pro same like my laptop...Saying 2 change the directory to another drive wouldn't be easy since this is "LAPTOP" & I only have 1 HDD & no other partition except C: i'm tired with this laptop & confuse Y this is only happen on my beloved laptop but on my PC it just normal & no need 2 do that complicated things just like this laptop start 2 make me stress.
So I force-restarted my computer to hopefully refresh the system but I just got back into the loop. It may be a conflict with some files but for now it's never-ending. What should I do?
First, my desktop icons keep reverting back to default positions. I place my shortcuts at custom locations in my desktop and when I refresh, they go back to the left. And whenever I restart my computer, they change back to the default large icon size.
I've searched the web on how to fix this and I haven't been able to find a working solution on this problem.
Then, Edge is now having a problem too. Edge starts just fine but the problem shows up when you type in a website you wanna go to. It will just sit there doing nothing. It's responding but it's just not doing anything... If you click the open new tab (The plus button) nothing happens. When you try to close it, nothing happens too....
I can still browse the web using other browsers (chrome for example) so it must be on Edge's side.I've ran virus scans with ESET and Windows Defender and they haven't found a virus so I'm pretty sure my computer is clean.
I downloaded Windows10 two nights ago, the download seemed to go well until it came time logging on. I was able to enter my password, pressed enter and got a black screen rendering my laptop useless.
