View 3 RepliesSince the Win10 Upgrade fails on my HP DV6 notebook, I decided to do a clean install.
But now, it won't take the Win7 product key for activation!!
I called MS and they told me that a clean-install will NOT activate using Win7 product keys and that I have to purchase a product key.
I got this same story from two different MS reps.
I thought you COULD activate a clean-install using Win7 key using build 10586.
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop from Windows 7. After updating, I'm unable to check on updates. I get:
There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may support: (0x8007042c)
Looking online, I find this has something to do with the firewall but my firewall appears to working fine.
I have a feeling this is bios/uefi related
Got a sabertooth z77 with two ssd on raid 0 (intel) another hard drive for backups (Regular sata) and another storage card (pciexpress sas highpoint 2720, with raid 5)
Windows 10 doesnt seem to like this.
Even booting the dvd itself its a drag and hr wont recognize the raid 0 not even with drivers (driver load will cause a watchdog blue screen)
Windows 7 and 8 dont mind. At all.
I feel like the csm thingy might have something to do.
Bios is latest. Sas raid is for storage only. Ill search for the manual of the board as the printed one doesnt have the options i got on the screen
I am having a problem trying to get Windows 10 Build 10041 installed on one of my computers. I am getting an error message(see screenshot) trying to create the account on install. I do not have this problem on build 9926.
View 9 RepliesInstalling Windows 10 directly on this pc from media creation tool. When it gets to 'searching for updates' it gets stuck a 0%.
View 8 RepliesI've decided to upgrade my Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 with the free upgrade. Unfortunately, it has been stuck "Checking for Updates" for the last 30-45 minutes. Is this normal? I've updated two laptops, one Windows 7 Home and one Windows 8 and it didn't take nearly this long. I'm afraid I'm stuck in some kind of loop.
View 4 RepliesI just build a new machine with a Gigabyte B85M-D3H mobo, Intel Pentium G3258 CPU, 4GB Corsair Value Select DDR3 1333 and 120GB Samsung EVO SSD. I now want to clean install Windows 10 Home (64-bit) from USB drive (created with media creation tool), but the machine is stuck in boot loop. The Windows logo appears for a few seconds and then the machine reboots, I don't have clue where in the boot process something goes wrong.
I already tried with a usb stick with Windows 8 installation files and this starts without issues. I made sure Fast boot en secure boot were disabled but without success. Also already reset the BIOS with optimized settings.
The stick boots till the first screen on different other machines.
I am currently running Win7 Ultimate service pack 1 and am trying to create an installation of Win10 on a flash drive before I replace some parts inside my PC that will require an OS refresh. Unfortunately I am stuck at this screen.
I am sure my OS version is activated and I have extracted my windows key via Magical Jelly Bean finder but it rejected that key.
P.S. any PC stats linked to this account are a different piece of hardware
I get the error message: "Windows 10 couldn't be installed - We couldn't update the system reserved partition".
View 9 RepliesI've been struggling for a while with KB3093266 not installing, and now KB3097617 won't install either.
They download and do the install prompt, then restart. But upon restarting, it says the updates have failed and reappear in Windows Update. Tried the standard troubleshooter, and by resetting WU to no avail.
I cleaned installed Win10 Pro using the Media Creation Tool and how come I only got 3 updates? I am assuming I would get more updates than these.
Running version 1511 build 10586
Is it because Win10 is too new ???
And I kept pressing the Check for Updates button and it said no more new updates.
New build. From a fresh install of windows 10 i try to install the drver for my IGPU Intel HD 530. each time i do that i get a BSOD with this message:
VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE igdkmd64.sys
Or sometimes it's
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXEPTION_NOT_HANDELED igdkmd64.sys
I've tried drivers from motherboard manufacturer CD, website and intel and some autodetect driver software. I always get the same behavior:
The screen start blinking several time ( black screen) before showing the BSOD then reboot and repeat it self. Even the driver downloaded by windows update have the same impact.
I've managed to install it in safe mode but when i restart in normal mode i get the same behavior.
I've tried 2 different monitors, VGA and HDMI , tried with UEFI on/off => same result.
I've tweaked once the tdr delay to 8 second, but didn't work.

After activation, the IE Favorites + Bar didn't install from Windows 8.1. I attempted to install using The Hub but it came back with 'Couldn't import favorites' from IE. I managed a manual install using cut and paste from the legacy IE file to the Favourites file in Win 10. This was successful for both Favorites and Favorites Bar, but it only lasted until the the machine was rebooted. The Favorites/Bar were once again missing from Win 10.
View 1 RepliesI wanted to clarify whether updates that require a restart to install, only install if you actually click 'restart' or do they install if you normally shutdown the computer and then turn it on again later?
I'm sure you could do it that way on Windows 7. Its difficult having to restart my laptop every time, I'd rather shut down normally at the end of the day once i'm done with it and then following day upon booting up, updates install.
When I open my Windows Update, the Upgrade to Windows 10 is there ready for me to download. It has a button saying "Get Started". I checked to see what available updates are ready for me and it shows I have about 8 Windows 7 updates to be installed. How do I get around the Upgrade to Windows 10 in order to only install the Windows 7 updates? I am presently holding off in the installation of Windows 10, but I do want to continue updating my Windows 7.
View 4 RepliesI recently did a reset on my Windows 10 laptop and it reset to version 10240. I am not being prompted to update to the latest version via Windows Update. How do I trigger the update to send TH2?
View 9 RepliesI am attempting to hide the driver update for my NVIDIA Grapgics card as the one from Microsoft causes me problems.
I am using this program from this link: [URL]
It doesn't matter how many times I run it the Driver update will not hide and therefore I am unable to update my computer without installing this troublesome update.
Windows shows Can't install updates. Select this message to fix. Is there a way to figure out what Windows will be fixing should I decide to 'fix' it?

View 9 RepliesI have Windows 10, but there's an update that needs to be installed. I don't have enough space on my hard drive to download it. I've put the file on a flash drive. How do I update my Windows from there?

View 7 RepliesI have made repeated attempts to download and install Google Chrome onto windows 10. I have tried multiple actions according to web sites. View 19 RepliesI am unable to install the .NET Framework 3.5 on my Windows 10 box. I tried enabling it through Programs and Features, I tried enabling and installing through DISM, I tried SFC /scannow. Everything is failing. Mostly I get error code 0x800736B3 saying that "The referenced assembly is not installed on your system". Sometimes I get Error 14003. I obviously need .NET due to many apps needing it to run. This is a brand new system. What can I try?
