View 5 RepliesI installed windows 10 and it worked fine for the 1st day then it went nuts. I tried to restore it can't find a restore point. I tried to recover and I can't find the back up disk. I tried reseting and that didn't work. I don't know what else to do.

From another forum there were people asking if they could eliminate the default sign in background picture. At the time, it could not be done.
Recently I posted a tutorial authored by Brink from another forum that allows users to change the sign in background pictures. That requires downloading something.
In this new build 10565 ( I think this started in build 10547, but I didn't have that build to know for sure ), we can now eliminate the background picture and replace it with solid colour. This can be done by Settings > Personalization > left side, Lock Screen > right side, under Show Windows background picture on the sign in screen, turn the slider OFF.
How many versions of windows can be put on one computer? Not dual booting, just on a hard drive, but including windows 1.0- windows 7. Will any conflict with one another?
View 11 RepliesMy query is regarding a brand new i7 sixth generation computer with Windows 10 Professional, including all the Windows upgrades, and a new Samsung SSD hard-drive.
The reason I bought Windows 10 Professional was for the full hard-drive encryption provided by Bitlocker in case my computer gets lost or stolen, as has happened to me previously. However, I have an ongoing problem with it and can't find a solution anywhere. I have tried to telephone Microsoft's telephone support several times but it has been beyond a joke with their outsource staff in far-flung countries with poor English claiming Windows 10 Professional does not have the option of Bitlocker or any form of encryption to all kinds of other absurdities.
Whenever I start my computer it does not ask me to enter a Bitlocker username or password (I am asked for the Windows password, but, as everyone knows, those are not totally secure and do no protect hard-drive data access). Also, in the Bitlocker section in Control Panel, I am not giving the option to edit a Bitlocker password, even though that option exists in all the other screenshots I have seen on the web.
How can I set my computer up to present me with a Bitlocker password on boot-up?
My system does say my hard-drive is encrypted, but how can I certain of that if there is not even password protection?
Here is what I see in my Windows Control Panel > Bitlocker section:
I note the warning message about rights being restricted to the system adminstrator, but I am the system adminstrator and have double-checked that.
I switched my microsoft account to a local account and now my laptop cannot start applications I have installed, such as Chrome and WoW. I tried switching back to a microsoft account and this did not resolve the problem.
I can see the installed programs in Programs & Features, but they cannot be uninstalled.
The shortcuts that were created for these programs say they cannot find the file location.
While I could just go ahead and reinstalled, this will be a problem for ones like Wow, and its a brand new laptop which I intended to keep as organized as I could :P not a great start.
I've noticed now on multiple computers I've installed Windows 10 on, that a quick win-key search isn't able to bring up installed apps. I'm sure this isn't how it's meant to be, and that there must be a fix... right?
View 3 RepliesI have installed Aome hdd manager on my W10 PC and laptop. On the PCs it appears in the start menu and also as an icon in the start menu.
But on the laptop it is not showing, have uninstalled and reinstalled and created a shortcut from the installed .exe file then chose pin to start menu, but still nothing ...
After pinning some user-installed applications to the Start Menu they looked fine. Today, all the icons that should be displayed in the buttons are gone. To determine what a given button does I have to hover over it, and the title appears in text. They still work to institute execution but are surely not the intuitive, user-friendly stuff we are suppose to applaud in W10.
Like my other problems of this nature, restart does nothing to correct the problem. And I cannot remove and reinstall the buttons since a right-click on them does absolutely nothing. All Windows provided buttons still have their icons, but right clicking on them does nothing either. I can drag-and-drop the icons around on the right side but cannot even resize them since a right-click is useless.
I installed Windows 10 from Windows 7 and I have some minor problems with the start menu. When I search for an installed program most of the times it wont find it but instead it will show me to look it on the web. I believe that it has a connection with the fact that the menu "All apps" doesn't show all apps but only some of them.
View 1 RepliesUpgraded from Windows 7 a couple of months ago with no issues. Then a few weeks ago computer wouldn't boot and needed several tries of using the reset button and also turning it off and on to get it going. No error messages at all. Tried a clean boot to no avail and yesterday used the Recovery/ Reset option. No issues with that, all went well and I re-installed a few programmes like Mailwasher, Avast, Malwarebytes, Firefox and Thunderbird. This morning it was back to the old issue of not booting for several tries. Then it came on.
So the Reset did nothing. I have never received any error messages. Once it gets going it works fine but it is becoming very tedious to have to wait so long for it to start.
Since I downloaded Windows 10 I have to unplug and plug the computer in every morning to start it. During the day it will come on by hitting a key stroke but after sitting for several hours it will not start. I can hit the switch on the computer and the light on the computer comes on but will not start until it is unplugged and plugged back in. I have a gateway with two lights on the front. The best I can tell one indicates the power is on and the other one is for the processor. The second one is the one that will not light up until unplugged and plugged back in. I was thinking it has something to do with going to sleep/hibernation but can not find any where I can change that.
View 3 RepliesLast winter I built my own computer. I had to try to install windows 8.1 like three times because something was mess up. It eventually worked. Every time I turn my pc on it has a 50% chance to boot normally. The other 50%, my computer blacks out. The screen is the solid color of my windows color. I can either wait 20 minutes for it to fix itself or press the reset button. It still happens when I installed windows 10. Also when I put my pc on sleep it sometimes freezes up. I can use my mouse to press the restart button and it will take a minute to reboot. What is the problem? Should I replace some parts or look inside?
View 1 RepliesI lost power throughout the night and my desktop keeps coming up with "your pc did not start correctly". Restarting it won't work either. When I troubleshot and do a "reset this pc" it keeps coming up with "there was a problem resetting your pc" no changes were made". Nothing is working for me.
View 3 Replieswell Windows 10 installed smoothly starting from inside hub.The computer from my wife installed in the same way, BUT while i can get the STARTSCREEN, she gets the older start that was there in some of the previous builds.

View 1 RepliesI have a laptop (Acer M3-581T), and it's in a bootloop between diagnosing/repairing your PC, can't repair and the blue screen.
I've got a recovery drive setup and wondering if there's anything I can do?
I'm fairly sure the computer had McAfee and a Kaspersky with a version not compatible with Windows 10, I'm not sure if these have anything to do with it.
Also I believe it started after Office 2016 was installed.
I'm not sure if there's a way to get a debug file since if I can even get to the Safe mode options, it restarts into the same bootloop.
EDIT: the code seems to be 0xc000021a
Start don't work, and Computer is 5 times slower. We used, sfc/scannow a bunch of times with a restate each time but didn't work at all. We were thinking about uninstalling windows 10 back to Windows 7. The computer ran windows 10 for about 2 weeks just fine and then this happened.
View 1 RepliesMy laptop began moving incredibly slow last night, like the cursor would hardly move and it sounded like it was running extra hard. I turned it off and this morning it won't load past the start up screen. And still, the windows loading icon spins incredibly slow.
Eventually it goes to a black screen for some time, then the automatic repair icon appears, then "diagnosing your pc". It made it past that once and got to the advanced option screen but was moving so slowly that I couldn't click on anything.
All of the previous versions of Windows that I ever set up, you were able to set auto-start with no password. Inow have Windows 10 and can't for the life of me find a way to do this. Is it not available option now in Win 10 ?
View 6 RepliesComputer was fine till I accidentally hit the power off button while trying to find the model number. Now I can't make it start at all. I tried restart. I tried shutting off and restarting. I have tried system restore and that did not complete successfully. Now I tried go back to previous build and it has said "restarting" for 30 minutes....
View 1 RepliesWindows 10 always does a disk check when I start my computer
View 1 RepliesI recently upgraded my SENS 900X Samsung laptop from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10. I did the easy upgrade, not a clean install. I did reformat my computer while it was in Windows 7, updated it, then upgraded to Windows 10.
When I turn on or restart my computer, I get a message which says:
I found : Link: Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10
However, after performing step 3, I get this message: "Your power plan information isn't available. Access is denied."
It has been doing this EVERY time I restart or start up my computer. It is very annoying as it clears some of my apps. It also says it is putting me on a temporary account or something like that.
View 1 RepliesWhenever I shut down my computer, I always have this problem. The Windows 10 insignia and the loading circle beneath will appear, then the screen will fade to black, and then my monitor says it can't detect my computer. I then have to unplug my computer from the outlet because I can't shut it down by pressing the power button. When I start it up again afterwards, it will start perfectly fine. And whenever I try to change the boot configurations, it automatically resets itself to the previous version.
