View 15 RepliesWhy can Microsoft understand I don't want to use these POS Realtek drivers. I use to disable driver updates from Windows 10 by going into Device Installation settings and Never install drivers from Windows update but now since the last stupid update everytime the POS Realtek drives install automatically no matter how many times I roll back and remove them. I hate the Realtek drives because the audio is super loud and sounds terrible. I just want to use the Microsoft HD Audio Driver which sounds great and uses little resources but no Windows 10 decides that the POS Realtek driver is better.
View 7 RepliesJust like the title says, I don't want the realtek audio drivers as it completely messes with my audio and also doesn't correctly switch when i plug in headphones for example.
It also doesn't allow for the 'speaker fill' enhancement to be used when playing stereo content through surround sound.
Windows itself does a far better job as opposed to realtek.
Every time i uninstall realtek it automatically gets reinstalled.
So, first up, was getting crashes with my windows 10 after installing nvidia driver 359.00, mostly crashes that recovered automatically, then started getting Blue Screens. Tried 359.06 and had the same problems. Rolled back to 358.91 which originally had been stable but after the rollback became crashy, but less than the other 2 drivers.
Had a HARD crash while playing Dragon Quest Heroes, rebooted from that and could not boot into windows whatsoever. Had to pull the card, use the motherboard video, removed the nvidia drivers entirely. I can boot into windows as long as there are no nvidia drivers while using my GTX 670. While attempting to reinstall any nvidia drivers with maybe 5% of the green bar on the installer showing it goes black screen, sits for a bit, then reboots. BIOS looks fine, windows splash comes up, not the password screen, black screen there. Tried what I could find to put the password in and get past he black screen but nothing happening.
Is there a problem with my card or my windows install? I'd rather not buy a new card but its always a pain reinstalling windows if I don't actually have to. how to export all my windows settings if I do need to reinstall.?
I installed windows 10 using the iso option of media creation tool. I did a clean install of it. It worked fine till the time I noticed that the graphics were not installed. So I downloaded drivers for my nvidia 7025 nforce 630a (309.08-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe). But when I tried to install it, after some time, the display went blank and i got an "Out Of Range error". I encountered this error in the past, so I tried to boot the system in "low-resolution mode" and then fix it. But Low Resolution mode gives me same error. Need installing the driver correctly, as the performance of the system is damn slow (as it is using microsoft's basic video driver).
View 7 RepliesI got my copy of windows 10 today but when it was all finished and I was trying to install nvidia drivers and shadow play etc etc it fails every time I do it.

View 12 RepliesI upgraded to windows 10 a day or so after it was released and now when I go to plug in my laptop to tv via hdmi or when I plug in an old xbox360 wired controller it keeps telling me that it found the updates for the drivers but encountered an error while attempting to install them. It doesn't give me an error code for this. Also when I check the updated center is says it could not install updates and gives me an error: Error 0x8000ffff.
View 10 RepliesSo I just installed Windows10 - all works well.. installed Steam and Chrome.
I go to install new AMD drivers as well as my Logitech drivers for my G400s mouse and my computer freezes.. cant move cursor, can't ctrl-alt-del - I've tried a million times.
My PC is not OC'd.
so i just wanted to install the lasted version of the driver and when i try to install the driver it will keep on restarting over and over again after it says its done and needs to restart and when the computer turns back on it does the exact install over and over again and it never finishes but my realtek driver still works.
View 1 RepliesAfter I installed windows 10 my printer won't print. It shoots out the paper but it is blank. I checked and all the drivers are up too date. I use a Canon MX860 All in one. It worked fine on Vista, 7 & 8.
View 1 RepliesI have a Synaptics touch pad on my HP Envy laptop. Prior to upgrading to Windows 10 if I went to mouse in the control panel there was a checkbox to check to disable the touch pad if a external mouse was detected. This worked fine. Now under Windows 10 I can still check the box to disable the touch pad but the setting does not stick and has to be rechecked after every reboot. Is there a way to get this setting to stick? There is no disable setting in the device manager for the Synaptics touch pad.

My sound won't work after I installed windows 10. I'm using Conexant SmartAudio HD by the way. I tried using youtube for a solution but everything was for older builds.

View 9 RepliesCan I stop windows(10) from automatically installing drivers for my Radeon graphics card? I have an HP dv6 with switchable graphics and I only want to have the Intel HD 3000 graphics working because whenever I install the drivers for the Radeon graphics the laptop will not boot into windows on the next reboot.I have uninstalled the drivers but it keeps re-installing it and the screen flickers every time it installs it.
View 1 RepliesI have Windows 10 installed in a VM (Oracle VirtualBox). In device manager, most of the devices show up as generic.
I downloaded the correct driver for my GTX980 video card. I tried installing it and it says "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware." How can I make Windows 10 see the correct hardware I'm using? Is there a setting in VirtualBox or Windows itself?
I have a laptop with an intel AC 7265 wireless adapter built in. With the normal Windows 10 driver, AP mode works - which I need to run Connectify.
I upgraded to the latest Intel driver as I was having other issues (Wireless would just disconnect and give me a 1609 address) but the new driver apparently doesn't support AP mode (hosted network support = no).
How I can get AP mode supported again?
A few days ago I updated my HP Envy laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 10. I used to be able to close the lid and the computer would enter sleep mode, and come out of it when I opened the lid. After updating, it now goes into hibernation mode when I close the lid. In the Sleep and Power Settings, the only options available for me to choose for when I close the laptop lid are "Do Nothing," "Hibernate," and "Shut Down."
Following recommendations for similar issues, I updated the driver for my display adapter. Unfortunately, this hasn't changed anything. I've noticed, however, that in the Device Manager, the symbol next to the Intel(R) HD Graphics Family has a little exclamation point in a yellow triangle. Under the display adapter Device status it reads "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
In addition to finding no mention of sleep mode anywhere on my computer, I'm now unable to change the screen brightness by any means.
I read somewhere that I can allow sleep mode by changing something related to the BIOS? This sounds complicated.
I have a generic Microsoft 200 keyboard and I'm running into two issues:
1) My keyboard goes into sleep mode every 5 seconds. I can tell because the Num Lock light goes off and comes back on when I hit any key.
2) If I long press a key, it seems to go into "sticky" mode and keeps pressing until I press it back again. This is especially troublesome when playing video games.
- I've checked power saving modes, all seems ok at default.
- I've checked and Sticky Keys is disabled as well as any user accessibility option.
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and an SSD. I know you are supposed to run in AHCI for an SSD, and did a full Windows 10 install after enabling this setting in BIOS. Now my CD/DVD burner will spin up, but will not read disc's in Windows.
View 9 RepliesI had this issue with my PC in January and went to all the trouble of a rebuild and a new motherboard. That was with Windows 8.1. However I now have this issue in Windows 10, it suddenly started a month ago. I am not moving the mouse or pressing any buttons. There is a 2-3 minutes gap and the system comes out from 'sleep' mode.
View 3 RepliesI have a MadCatz Rat9 wireless mouse and in windows 10 when I go to sleep mode the wireless mouse does not charge. I had windows 7 ul before and the mouse charged fine in sleep mode. In device manager I checked the mouse drivers and in power management allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is greyed out. Allow this device to wake the computer has a checkmark. why windows 7 charged ok in sleep mode and windows 10 will not.
View 1 RepliesSo at first, I was trying to resolve an issue with my BD-ROM drive described here: XPS 8700 - BD-ROM (HL-DT-ST DVDRW/BDROM CH20N) Not Recognized Windows 10 - Disk Drives (HDD, CD/DVD, Blu-ray) Forum - Disk Drives - Dell Community
However, when attempting to try different things, I am now in a position where I can no longer boot to Windows 10. More specifically, when I turn on my computer, I get an error saying no bootable drives found and it just lists my SATA 1, 2, 3, etc. drives with an option to restart or go to BIOS setup. In other words, I don't even see Windows anymore existing.
My basic computer specs:
Dell XPS 8700 SE
Intel Core i7-4700
Windows 10 with 1511 update
2TB hdd with 32GB mSATA SSD cache drive
16GB RAM
BD-ROM
I need to get Windows working again, and hopefully, get back my data. Here's what I did to cause the problems:
1) I went to Dell UEFI BIOS setup, and changed the SATA mode from "RAID" to "AHCI". Saved and exited BIOS.
2) After rebooting, Windows failed to load, had a consistent blue screen with the sad smiley face with error "IO1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED", automatic repair also failed.
3) I tried reverting back to "RAID" in SATA mode in BIOS, but it failed to change anything. Windows still wouldn't boot
4) I then entered into the special BIOS menu showing devices which listed my mSATA cache drive and hard drive and RAID settings. Since it showed that the cache drive was "Disabled", I thought I could fix my issues by re-creating the RAID array.
5) I tried to delete the current RAID setup shown in that BIOS menu, then chose the option to recreate the RAID0 array by selecting the option to create a "Striped Disk Array".
6) Once I did the above, Windows itself disappeared, and trying to undo the RAID0 option did not fix anything
So now I am no longer seeing Windows, not sure if my data on the hard drive still exists, and my cache drive (obviously) is not working.
doing a clean reinstall and losing all my previous data in Windows?
I have purchased two licenses of Windows 10 Pro x64. Everything works fine, except for one disturbing elements.
I have an unsigned driver to a program that I use every day, so I have to boot in the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" mode every time, for the program to work. Yes, I have activated the old fashioned F8 boot menu, which is disabled by default in Windows 10. This is no problem, but it seems impossible to get Windows 10 to boot in this mode as standard.
In Windows 7 I solved it easily with the programs "Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider" or "ReadyDriver Plus", but none of these programs seem to work in Windows 10.
So my question is simply, how do I configure Windows 10 so that my computer will boot in the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" mode PERMANENTLY? Alternatively, configure the boot setting so that the boot menu (F8) appears by default every time I boot, so I don't always need to be prepared to throw myself on the F8 key at every startup.
