View 16 RepliesInstalling Java on my (fairly) new Windows 10 64-bit machine. On my previous version of Windows (Windows 7 64-bit), I had Java (32 bit and 64 bit) installed, and it worked perfectly. However, I can not get it to install on my current machine, no matter what I do?
I downloaded the offline installer for Java 32 bit, and 64 bit, from the manual download page: Java Downloads for All Operating Systems. Upon trying to run the 32 bit installer (which you are supposed to install first), nothing appeared to happen. So I left it for about 20 minutes, and found it still wasn't doing anything when I came back. So I brought up my task manager to check if anything was running in the background, and found "Java Platform SE Binary (32 bit)" running there. As it appeared to be doing nothing, I ended it, and tried running it again, only for the same thing (nothing) to happen.
I then tried the 64 bit installer, thinking maybe something had changed, and Windows 10 just didn't need the 32 bit version (upon later research finding that this is an incorrect assumption on my part). Same story with the 64 bit installer as well.
Frustrated, I tried to search my computer, to see if it had added anything. There were no new program entries, and no Java section in my Control Panel, but there was a new folder in my Appdata, LocalLow, called "Oracle," containing a Java folder, with a "jre1.8.0_65.msi" file.
I tried to run the MSI file, but got the following message: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I tried their official support on this matter: Error 1721: There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. But none of the listed steps, even all used in conjunction, did anything.
I also tried their online installer, rather than the offline one (even though I need to use the offline ones in the end, because I need 64 bit), and it had the same issues.
In short, I run the installer, and nothing happens, no window, no errors, it just runs in the background indefinitely. I have tried installing in safe-mode, verifying/repairing my system files, running the installer in all available compatibility modes and as administrator, turning off my firewall and anti-virus softwares, and nothing has worked thus far.
I was trying to open a jar file, so I opened with any other program like adobe reader, didn't work.
I realized I needed to install Java, and did, but now it wont choose java as one of the apps to use to open it.
I've tried a lot of things before asking this, including downloading Java, setting it's destination to the desktop, and tried using the executable files in that to run the .jar, so now I can't tell if any of those files are the correct Java.
I have java installed on my machine, but can't see it in my browsers, FX or Chrome ( I know it won't work in Edge).
I have checked the box 'Enable Java controller in the browser' under the security tab in Java Control Panel.
I am trying to run a program with Java software in Windows 10, yet it is not letting me. I have been reading that it has been an issue after the update.
View 1 RepliesI noticed recently on Teamspeak that I've got some packet loss, up to 10% at a time. This has shown itself in games as well, most notably League of Legends where my ping will be stable, yet I lose control of my character for up to five seconds at a time. I tried doing a test on pingtest.net but it says that Java doesn't seem to be installed on my browser, why? I've un-installed and re-installed Java but it still says this message: "Pingtest.net requires Java for packet loss testing, but it does not appear to be installed in your browser. Click here for assistance."

Is there something I can do to fix it? Should I install a different version of java?
I seem to have two instances of Java installed on my Win10 Pro 64-bit Laptop .. see screenshot below. Can I safely uninstall one of them?
If "yes" then which one? I have no clue how I ended up with 2 x Java installs on my laptop. I'm assuming I should keep the 64-bit install, and delete the other? I use Chrome as my usual browser, but very occasionally use Edge
When installing a software, I keep getting an error like the attached pictured
My PC is Win 10 64
The Program to run is in 32 bit
Java 32 is installed
Java was tested using Explorer browser
I've been having this issue with Java Update Scheduler running on his own and ramming my CPU usage to 80%, 10 to 15 minutes every time after I boot the PC, and every time I need to manually close it. I've searched it up online and people recommended setting s manual task scheduler for it, I did, it didn't work .
Some people recommended disabling "check for updates" in the Java configure window but I didn't even have Java installed, where this came from and how that process starts and why. So I installed Java, disabled updates and I still get this issue every time I boot the PC, I officially give up since I don't know what to do anymore.
I have reinstalled java and have java 8 u 60 64bit. i have set factory default on my router. i have restarted the computer and minecraft.
Oother places say minecraft can't communicate with itself, although java is allowed in firewall both private and public..

Every time I open a java program (netbeans, mc) it crashes after about 3sec. The aplications works when I run java 32-bit but I can't run anything with more then 1,5Gb of ram and if I change to 64 (deleting 32-bit and installing 64-bit)the aplications just crashes after 3sec. I've tried running both java 7 and 8 but it still crashes. I believe it's a problem with windows 10 but I'm not sure...

I reinstalled Windows to try to fix an issue, but it did not work. I am installing my programs to an alternate drive, and would like to install Java there as well. I know about the JRE_HOME environment variable, but it can only point to 32 OR 64-bit Java. Is there any way to have both running simultaneously without need to switch the variable to the 64-bit path? I think that this does happen when I install to the default location, so how can I do that?

Whenever I try to install a 64 bit Windows 10 copy from a flash drive, I get stuck on the 4 blue squares, with no white dots spinning. Then after about 10 seconds the PC restarts. I have tried the official way with the media creation tool, I have tried just downloading the ISO and using a third party bootable USB maker, I have tried ISO's from pirate sites (yes, I know, not the best solution) but none of those worked. Every time I tried a different method I always fully formatted the USB drive. Oddly enough the 32 bit version worked once or twice but even that doesn't work anymore. My PC specs are quite good so I really don't know what's the issue. Btw im running a 120 GB AData SSD and a 1 TB Seagate hard drive.

View 3 Repliesyesterday I downloaded the 10041 ISO from the Windows 10 Technical Preview ISO March Update - Microsoft Windows.I installed by mounting the ISO into a VirtualBox and enjoyed having a look around. In fact I like it so much at my initial impression I decided to move into a dual boot system.
I have a 250gb SSD as my C: drive so I partitioned it and created a D: of 80GB for the Windows 10 preview.I then tried creating 2 different USB installers... one Rufus MBR for legacy BIOS... and the second using the microsoft USB/DVD installer tool. I also burnt a DVD. In all cases I used the very same ISO that I mounted sucessfully inside the VirtualBox yesterday. Each one of the 3 installers I created seemingly hangs at the initial black splash screen with the 4 blue windows in the centre. It goes no further and believe me I waited 20 minutes on one of them.
BTW.... I tried opening the ISO in WINISO and then mounting to BD ROM drive. Then selected the setup.exe and away it goes just like setting up on the VBox ... but then it get to a screen which suggests I need to install a different language pack to the one already installed, so I immediately realised this route is trying to upgrade my Win 7 which I don't want... so I aborted.
How do I get trusted installer Privileges.
