I just updated my PC to windows 10 and now I'm not getting any sound from my HDMI connected TV. Picture is working fine and have tried as many solutions as i could find. I've restarted, tried a new HDMI cable and used different ports, I've tried to update drivers but there are no updates, tried restarting the Windows Audio service, and so on. Sound still works with my headset just not through HDMI.

I have tried - Right clicking on audio, playback device - not showing my tv or any high def icon. Just speaker.I checked my graphics card - it says intel (r) HD graphics - I clicked update and it said it was already updated.
I have tried many things from forums and nothing seems to work. My computer is pretty old, but worked before the upgrade.

View 1 RepliesSo after my problems with my Altec Lansing speakers (detailed on another thread) I decided to bite the bullet and just buy new speakers. Except that now there is a problem with that too.
I have a HDMI cable attached to my laptop so that I can use my TV as a second monitor. That's fine and dandy, except that the sound only comes out from my TV, not from my laptop speakers or my new speakers. I've tried to use Windows settings to adjust things but there doesn't seem to be any such option.
On my last computer all I had to do was plug and play, so I'm not sure why this is happening. It's quite a hassle because when the HDMI cable is attached, all my sound comes from the TV.
Today when I plugged in my earphones (the apple ones) and there was no audio at all, but somehow it worked totally fine without the earphones. Even realtek detected something when I plugged my earphones, I also went to device manager to check if every driver is updated or not but still ended up no luck.
things i know:
- Audio is perfect without earphones plugged in
- only 'Speakers' is shown as my playback device
- went to device manager and i'm pretty sure all drivers are up to date and enabled
- everything was working fine the last time i booted into my windows10 (dual booting with linux)
- realtek detected my earphone as it popped up a notification saying 'you just plugged a device into the audio jack'
After upgrade to w10 the sound via the HDMI port went missing. On this machine you press a button to switch from PC Mode to Game Mode, which activates the HDMI port where the PVR is plugged in. When viewing a PVR program (TV show), the video is perfect but there is no sound. I have updated drivers, rolled back drivers, & tried everything I can think of.(besides the PVR audio).I have an HP Omni 27 1055 Desktop PC.
View 9 RepliesJust got a new monitor today, Samsung S24D300HL which I have plugged into my Nvidia Geforce GTX 745 video card via HDMI.
Picture is great no problems there. However I have no sound at all. I've updated my graphics driver via Nvidia Experience program version 361.43 I've right clicked and went to Nvidia control panel audio tab and my monitor was listed there as audio under HDMI still no sound. I've restarted the computer a couple times. Checked Windows update. Switch to a different HDMI cord and still no sound. I've right clicked the speaker in the taskbar and went to playback and what I have is. Nvidia HDMI Output (Port 0) and Nvidia HDMI Output (Port 1) both say not plugged in. I'm confused about the Port 0 and Port 1 because there is only one HDMI spot on the back of the card.
After updated from Win 7 I cannot open IE. No any error message, IE just do not start.

View 2 RepliesI recently built a new PC, and it contains my old hard drive and a new 2TB hard drive. My old PC had Windows 7 on it. New mobo meant I needed to install Windows 8.I started to have issues right off the bat. Sometimes, it would boot to a black screen, and then would boot fine if I restarted. Windows 10 came out a few weeks later, and I upgraded to that. Now, it will try to boot Windows 8, then Windows 10 right after. It will still regularly boot to a black screen first. Additionally, coming out of hibernation often results in the blue screen CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED error.
So far, I have not been able to find anything useful to fix the problem. I did some things in the command prompt, based on other threads' advice, such as running sfc.exe/scannow and dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth. I got Error 87 after running the second one.
so..i had w7, and today i found that w10 free update was available
downloaded it, installed it using express settings...it didn't do a clean install cause all my files are still there
w10 works fine, is fast, but for some reason i cant open the settings app
i try opening trough the start menu, and it opens and immediately closes i try opening the app trough the new action center all settings ..and the same..it opens and immediately closes also, when i right click on the wallpaper and click on the personalize item it also opens the settings app, immediately closes and a window pops up saying: THIS FILE DOES NOT HAVE A PROGRAM ASSOCIATED WITH IT.
since i had w7, now in w10 i have to register my MS account, but i cant because i cant get the settings app to open

View 1 RepliesMy laptop has a Atheros AR9002-1AB wireless network adaptor and, since updating to Windows 10 its showing as a fault and I can't connect to my wifi.
The driver is showing as up to date.
I recently switched over to Windows 10 and the first issue I had was my graphics driver becoming non compatible, but this was fixed when I flashed my BIOS for my computer to the most recent release.
Everything went smooth for a few weeks, but now I can't connect to the internet due to a common problem with Windows 10.
I want to go back to 8.1, but wanted to make sure my current BIOS wasn't going to crash on me ...
Does the BIOS will still support 8.1 ...
I set the Power options in the Control panel for the display to turn off for e.g. 10 minutes. When not using the computer, the screen is put to sleep after that amount of time. If I then try to get it out of this modus by moving the mouse or tapping any key on the keyboard I get a screen but NO icons on the taskbar and an empty background (no actief apps). I can see mouse movements but I can' t d launch any apps. when I set the turn off display setting to "never", obviously the computer never went to sleep and everything stays as it should be.
My configuration is as follows:

Toshiba Satellite laptop - I did the procedure for removing the windows login using netplwiz. It works once or twice then reverts back to login PW required. The box in user accounts is not checked to enter a user name and PW on this computer. It also requires a login after going to sleep. In the power options, the circle is not checed for requiring a PW and the require a PW on wake up is set to no, on battery or plugged in.
View 3 RepliesI am using Windows 10 version 1155 Build 10586.36 64 bit edition on my Dell Vostro 3750. It has been working ok on the whole since upgrading to Windos 10 but the last few weeks when I click on this computer icon I can see a ghost Drive.
When I look in Device Manager it is listed as a Generic Multi Card usb I can delete it in the device manager but then next time I boot it is back
I want to create a new file from my photos on Windows 10 to use for a calendar so that I can change sizes etc but it wont work. always used to.

I made the decision last year to go with Apple when this PC dies but things like this make think I shouldn't wait. I just can't afford toi do it right now. Is there a way to get this damn popup out of my system?

Did that ok. I uninstalled the KB3035583...that went ok but the windows icon keeps coming back on my taskbar. When a update appears to be downloaded. how do I check the number of it first to see what it is. I think I might of let it go through last night when
I was shutting down. ]Is this 10 going to keep coming up? Anyway to get rid of it permanently. I intend to stay with my 8.1 as I don't like 10 and it disabled a lot of my stuff when I had it.
When I first installed windows 10 pro. I used Microsoft's create install media tool and saved to USB. Now as we are regularly getting cumulative updates from Microsoft does the install media get updated as well?
I mean if I re create the install media Windows 10 would it have all the cumulative updates in it?
Just updated to the latest build. Windows 10 build 10547. It makes it to the lock screen, and I can slide the picture up, but it won't let me put my PIN in. I can't click any icons in the bottom right corner, and when I do click, the picture is just above my cursor like I am sliding it up again.
