I have a couple Macrium Reflect back-up images I made before upgrading to 10. At this point I am fully committed to 10. Are there any reasons to keep the Win 7 images? They are stored on an external HD which has lots of free space but I like to get rid of stuff I do not need just to keep my life simple and uncluttered.

So I'm having a minor issue where my Windows 10 lock screen image keeps reverting back to one of the default ones Microsoft provides located in C:Windowsweb. The image it keeps selecting is Image 101. It seems to happen on my Surface 3 while charging over night.
View 4 RepliesI was running Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 10. I lost no data or programs or pictures, etc. Windows 10 worked fine for about a month and then developed a "restart required" loop. After several attempts I tried the Recovery option, thinking it would take me back to a restore point as in Windows 7. Instead it took me back to Windows 7 and all data and programs (other than the Windows 7 default programs) are gone. How can I get back to either 7 with my data and programs or 10 with my data and programs?
View 1 RepliesI have attempted to download windows 10 around 4/5 times, the download completes and states that my computer needs to restart upon which it claims it is configuring the windows 10 upgrade. I would assume from this point it would restart into the windows 10 configuration however each time I have tried it it restarts back into windows 8 as if nothing had happened.
My laptop then opens up windows update and says I am able to download windows 10. This is really frustrating as I can't even seem to get into the windows 10 setup.
As you can see I am attempting to download again but there is no trace at all of it attempting to install windows other than this failed update that you can see here.
I am using an HP Pavillion 15-n268a laptop.
Not sure if this is the right thread for this but saw no other options for my specific problem. My laptop was reviving and so looked in task manager to fins this Windows Image Acquisition Service using the CPU. Went into services and changed it to manual.
Engine still revving, Shut down pc and turned back on.......engine begins revving again.......
Task manager says "no processes running?
Turned internet off.... no difference...still revving?
Windows Spotlight isn't working right on my W10 home PC. The image just never cycles. Currently I have a nice image of a light bulb, but it's supposed to cycle to new pictures. On my Surface 3, I actually see new images all the time.
I'm on build 10586.104 (version 1511). I just enrolled in the insider preview ring, but no updates from that yet.
My wife's Samsung laptop gets a failure whenever trying to do an image backup. Actually, this has been happening for quite a while - even before she installed Windows 10 when she had W7. I was hoping that the problem would go away with W10 but it hasn't. Backup runs almost to the end and then fails with the attached message. The message says to run dskchk on both her drive and on the backup drive which I did. No problems were found. (I backup my desktop on that drive all the time with no problems.) I tried backing it up on another external drive that also tests good but got the same error message.
View 9 RepliesI Created an image backup using Windows 10. I burned the repair CD. I booted from cd. Options are most recent backup [but it only shows D:, the factory backup partition]. No browse capability. Other option does not let me browse to the folder the system created, "F:WindowsImageBackup". How do I restore from this image instead of the factory image?
View 8 RepliesWhen I right click an image on a webpage and select "save image as" the explorer window that pops up doesn't have "Libraries" in the navigation pane.
I can manually navigate to one of the folders that is included in my pictures library but "Libraries" is just not in the list like it is in the main file explorer window.

I created system image backup file at least once a week. I did one yesterday, and today I needed to run it to restore my system. To my horror, I cannot find way to run it. I ran system image backup restore multiple times. I know how to do it...... until today. Today, by the time I clicked Troubleshoot option, there is no Advanced Options to choose from. Instead it sent me to Startup Settings option where I could go to safe mode etc,
I ended up running a system restore. Good thing I do create restore point religiously. But, after system restore, I still have the same problem.......... cannot restore image by using system image backup.
adding............... I went to my other laptop running Win 10 Pro, I had no trouble running system image restore.
The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).
That's the Event Viewer error message at every reboot (appears to occur during the shutdown phase).
There is a concurrent fault listed for the Canon scanner driver, CNC210C.DLL, which is not corrupted.
from some reason, a process called "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), which I've never seen before is running and using about 30% CPU. I read in MSDN that "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) is the still image acquisition platform in the Windows family of operating systems starting with Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me) and Windows XP."
Does that mean that from some reason my laptop's camera is running now? Maybe my laptop was hacked?
Windows spotlight under the lock screen settings set a picture for me that I'd like to make permanent. Unfortunately it will change when the new windows spotlight picture is sent out. What is the save location of this image file so I can set it as my permanent lock screen picture?
View 9 RepliesI have been trying to fix my windows 10 corrupted files but I have been unabled to recover it. I tried every possible way of recovering using DISM commands, but to no avail. I tried also the sfc /scannow but as usual this command hardly ever fixes issues regarding corrupted files. I have tried using dism in several ways by specifying the location and the install.esd file from my usb flashdrive windows copy and even tried the health commands on powershell..still wont work. The first command I tried and for all of them I get the same error message, which looks like this:

View 5 RepliesI upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10. after a month, my system crashed due to inaccessible_boot_device issue. I tried everything, but had to go for a fresh install of windows 10. then came the issue of activation. No matter what i did, it wasnt getting activated. So, now the customer care at HP has asked me to install Windows 8.1 again. and then upgrade.
My question is, should I install Windows 8.1 Single Language itself, as it was my original OS, or can I go for Windows 8.1 Pro. Will Pro dvd have the option of Single Language in it? Media creation tool is not working for me, that is why I'm trying to download Pro via torrent and then install Single Language.
I upgraded my computer to Windows 10 today. I had deleted some of the apps needed to get pictures from my phone, so thought I would use the reset option to get back to the original state when the upgrade had conpleted, not realizing it would delete all my programmes as these were termed 'apps'. I now don't have the option in 'recovery' to go back to Windows 7, nor the option in 'advanced start up' to reset to factory settings.
I want to get back to Windows 7 so I can use the system image and my back up, both on external HD, to reinstall all my programmes but can't think how I can do this.

I have an Acer Aspire M5 Ultrabook and came with Genuine windows 8. I wanted to know does rolling back to windows 8.1 restore my laptop to previous stage with all my files and settings safe or will it install a brand new clean Windows 8.1?

When I installed windows 10 I used an installation disk and not the upgrade option. The previous windows I had was windows Single Language and the one I have now is Windows Pro.
