View 1 RepliesI have an annoying delay on the use of my computer since upgrading to Windows 10. The most obvious place is when using the file explorer. I get a 2 to 3 second delay on most operations. These would include: dragging a file into a folder, renaming a file, naming a new folder, etc. When I drag a file into a folder, it does not sort the new file, but the file stays at the bottom of the list. Pretty annoying. I see this same delay in quite a few operations.
I have an i7-2700K processor, 16GB ram, a 250 GB Samsung SSD 840 Pro along with a 2 TB storage drive with ample space on both. I did not have this delay in Windows 7 that I upgraded from.
lately I have a really weird bug. Windows 10 randomly adds US English to my keyboard inputs. But when I go into the language input menu, US english is not there. The screenshot below will show you exactly what I mean, and this is really annoying, cause I am living in UK and I want to use the UK layout not the US.
View 9 Repliesve just recently started having problems with keyboard input lag. Meaning, I will type and it will not register until a full second after I hit the key. I have re-installed java multiple times. Scanned my computer for harmfull virises, programs. Ive switched keyboards, and the problem still occurs.
View 1 RepliesSince today morning I am not able to login to my Win10 PC. It starts normal until the lock Screen appears. The clock in the lock Screen is working, so everything seems to be ok. But the System does not react on any keyboard or mouse Input.
The Keyboard is working perfectly in the BOOT Menue (after F2 during Startup). So I am quite sure that this is not a hardware problem.
I have a new problem, and it is with keyboard input. I have to type very slowly to get my keystrokes to actually get entered. I need to hold down each key for at least one full second or press the key several times to type each keystroke. This occurs on all four keyboards I tried including a wireless Logitech that I'm using to type this. PC is Dell 560, OS Windows 10 Home. The PC is practically useless like this.
View 4 RepliesI'm using 2 languages to type. Mostly English but when chatting to my parents in Skype for example, I switch to Bulgarian (Cyrillic Alphabet) keyboard input.
Back in Windows 7 if I was to open an application (Skype for example) and switch to Bulgarian keyboard I could type in Bulgarian, but if I was to open a web browser for example, thus minimizing Skype, I would continue to type in English without the need to switch between languages. Simply put Windows 7 would remember what language input I have switched to in a certain application and would automatically switch to it.
Now since installing Windows 10 every time I switch to Bulgarian, the input for every single application changes to Bulgarian, and if I was to switch back to English then they all change to English input.
So... is there an option somewhere to prevent this from happening?
I had to reinstall from scratch Windows 10 Enterprise 32-bit on my Dell Venue 8 Pro 32 GB tablet. After the first installation, the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse (both work fine under Windows 8.1), disconnected after 10-12 seconds. However, probably after one of the automatic updates, they started working normally (it took about a day or so).
Now, after the 2nd Windows 10 installation, the problem with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse reappeared. I forced the Windows updates, but no luck.
It's curious because, if I keep the Settings window active, on the Bluetooth page, both the keyboard and the mouse work. If I minimize the Settings window, after about 30 seconds, both devices stop working. If I close the Settings window, or move to a different settings page, both devices stop working immediately.
I have changed the Bluetooth Support Service from Manual to Automatic, but it did not work. Running the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter did not work either.
I have a generic Microsoft 200 keyboard and I'm running into two issues:
1) My keyboard goes into sleep mode every 5 seconds. I can tell because the Num Lock light goes off and comes back on when I hit any key.
2) If I long press a key, it seems to go into "sticky" mode and keeps pressing until I press it back again. This is especially troublesome when playing video games.
- I've checked power saving modes, all seems ok at default.
- I've checked and Sticky Keys is disabled as well as any user accessibility option.
My mouse and keyboard were doing fine with Windows 7, but after I upgraded to Windows 10, my wired mouse and keyboard have been prone to just randomly stop working for a few seconds before working again. When it happens to my keyboard, what key I had been pressing would be typing over and over again, while my mouse is stuck in place (screen is not frozen, videos keep playing, etc). In addition with the windows 10 upgrade, I also got a new graphics card at the same time, but I don't think a graphics/video card could be responsible for this kind of thing, right?
Hardware Information:
Mouse: Corsair Raptor m40
Keyboard: CM Storm QuickFire Rapid
Graphics Card: Sapphire Dual-X R9 270
I have no viruses/malware, and when I go to the devices manager and try to update the "HID-Compliant Mouse" driver online, it seems like it's the recent driver. Same for the keyboard. Therefore, I'm leaning to the Windows 10 to be the culprit, but I'm not too sure.
I am having problems with me Mouse and key board, on boot up they will turn on for about 20 seconds then turn off. Then a error comes up,inaccessible_ boot_drive. But if I restart my pc the mouse and keyboard will do the same thing but instead of the error I get, choose keyboard layout, and a list of options but I cant choose them because the mouse isn't working. This all started happening after I upgraded my power supple but I when I put my old power supple in I had the same problem. I have windows 10and I have tried using different keyboards and different usb ports.
View 1 RepliesI uninstalled my laptop's keyboard and I can't install it again. My laptop is a Sager NP8278-S, which is based on a Clevo P170SM-A.
I uninstalled the "Standard ps/2 keyboard" driver via the device manager because im stupid. After the restart, my keyboard doesn't work. I tried installing it again via the device manager, after showing hidden devices and disconnected devices, it is still not there. I searched for a keyboard driver by clevo or sager and there isn't any. There is an utility for the backlit keyboard called "Hotkey", but after installing that,
An old problem seems to have re-occurred with W10 -- I had a post ages ago - can't find it - about this problem --if I haven't used the computer for a while and then I want to browse files on a standard HDD there is a delay while the HDD powers on (or seems to) and then I get the file.
I know an HDD is nothing like as fast as an SSD but I can hear the HDD starting up -- is there any way to turn this delay OFF.
set turn HDD off to 0 (i.e Never) -- you have to look at power options in Control panel (advanced) rather than settings.
I have a slight delay when playing music after I haven't touched my laptop for a few minutes. It's as if the HDD goes to sleep and it has to spin up again before it can play the file. Now I know getting a SSD would solve my problem, but I can't afford that right now.
I have set my Hard drive to never go off in the power settings, but it doesn't solve my problem.
So I've got some pinned icons on my Win 10 taskbar, such as Chrome, Notepad++, file explorer etc.
I go to change the Chrome icon and it doesn't change on the taskbar like it did with W7. But sometime later, unsure when, could have been after a restart or after waking up from sleep or just a time period later, it finally changed to the icon that I'd chosen.
I did this to file explorer as well and some time later it finally changed to the icon that I've chosen for it.
1. Why is there this delay?
2. What if anything can I do to avoid the delay and get the icons to change immediately as they did with Windows 7?
Click on the start menu > Power > Shutdown.does not immediately shut down. I can continue to do tasks for about 30seconds. The computer suddenly switches over to the "Shutting Down" screen with green/blue/<color> background. The computer takes several minutes to shut down.
I have attached a screenshot of Event Viewer logs for Microsoft/Diagnostics-Performance/Operational filtered to Event ID's 200-299 (Shutdown).I have also run a sfc /scannow but there were files that Windows was unable to fix.I'll include the log files as a zipped attachment.
Over last few weeks I have been noticing that when I go to delete a file or move it another folder it will actually take around 5-10 seconds to actually execute. I dont mean slow transfer but its like the process hangs for a bit. Weird thing is that it doesn't do it every single time, and hard to predict it. Everything else on my pc is working normally. My C: is a Crucial SSD
I have run disk check and disk clean and completes with no problem.
I tried running sfc /scannow both in safe mode and normal boot however it comes back with the following message. "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windirLogsCBSCBS.log. For
example C:WindowsLogsCBSCBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios."
Ok, so I start digging into google trying to figure this out as im not sure what im looking at in the logs and I come across a few other commands to try
Dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth - the message I received "The component store is repairable.
The operation completed successfully."
Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth - Error: 0x800f081f

After converting from Windows 7 to 10 the screensaver delay time resets to 1 every time I boot the system. This prevents the screensaver from activating. I set the time and press apply and then works all day until I sign off at night and re-boot (power up) in the morning. I did not have this problem with Windows 7.
View 9 Repliesi can understand about not encouraging piracy and that's what i said to him but my friend is worried about windows 10 updates. now he said ,"there is no options for delay or stop windows updates in windows 10 home.and after windows updates system will be force to restart immediately."
View 1 RepliesI am creating a task in the task scheduler to delay the startup of OneDrive for 5 minutes and it is working but when it launches it is opening a window instead of minimizing or running in background. I am using "minimize" as argument but it's not working.
What do I use to get it to launch in the background?
When renaming a file in File Explorer I am frequently, but not always, stymied by the system re-selecting the entire filename whilst I am in the midst of editing it. It occurs anytime from 1-2s after I start editing up to 10s or more. I typically am using the back arrow to move to the point I am editing, and Shift+arrow to select text. It may happen before or after I have used Shift+arrow to select text. It's frustrating because I have to essentially anticipate the system possibly reselecting the whole filename, and if it does, restart my edit again.
View 1 RepliesI recently got rid of a cabled keyboard in favor of a smaller bluetooth keyboard (MS Mobile 6000). Everything is great except that now, I have a hard time putting my PC to sleep. In fact, it tends to wake up after 30 seconds or so. I'm pretty sure this is due to the BT keyboard.
View 3 RepliesSometimes when turning pc on I get a popup saying input signal out of range change settings to 1600x900-60hz and when pc comes on everything is magnified then after rebooting several times screen returns to normal?

View 1 RepliesI just bought this computer a few weeks ago and this problem has been persistent since I've gotten it. sometimes when I login, the screen is black or partially black, the rectangle for my pin is still visible however. My screen is touchscreen. I can "erase" the black with my finger and the normal login screen appear underneath. Inputting my pin is no problem and after login I don't see this problem anywhere else.
View 5 RepliesIn Windows 7 and 8, when I saved an Excel input.csv file to a master.csv file, it would just save.
Now in Windows 10, the Excel file opens up and has to be saved manually (file save as...).
Is there a way to get it to just save as it did in Windows 7 and 8, as opposed to having the file open up like that?
