Ever since i updated my laptop to windows 10, the fan has been running on full speed and i am not running anything intensive (just Firefox), task manager shows some Microsoft background task host and i really don't want to change back to 8.1.

I recently installed Windows 10 on a desktop computer and everything went as smoothly as it could have, with no problems at all. So, motivated by how well everything went with that computer, I decided to upgrade Windows on a laptop as well. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L855, with an Intel Core i3-2370M processor.
The upgrade process on the laptop also completed successfully. Now both computers have Windows 10 and so far it has been running... fine.
The only unusual thing I've noticed with the laptop is that the CPU fan wants to run at full speed all the time, even though the computer is never used for any "processor-intensive" tasks. The normal activity on it is browsing the web, watching videos, playing music, writing text files and really nothing more than that.
I immediately found this odd and I have come to the conclusion that something in Windows 10 is responsible because:
a) This never happened in Windows 7, which was the previous operating system the computer had, and
b) This doesn't happen when I start the computer and go into a different operating system, namely Ubuntu.
Fhe topmost process keeps my fan running at full speed. when I end task this "runtime broker" everything goes back to normal. it keeps coming back everytime I turn on my computer from hibernate. what this is?
View 7 RepliesI've notice that on windows 10 and 8.1, task manager would show the my max cpu core speed is 2.3-2.4 ghz. However, my Core 2 Quad q8400 is rated at 2.66 ghz. I tried changing the power settings in windows and try lowering my cpu temperature, but my speed would never reach 2.66 ghz.
View 7 RepliesI have a peculiar issue with wifi on Windows 10. My computer shows a wifi link speed of 270 Mbps and i have tested the same by sending huge files over my network. Now the issue is that i strongly believe that something in Windows 10 is throttling the internet speeds drastically. I am only getting half of the subscribed download speeds on my Windows 10. I have other devices/phones connected to the same wireless network and they are getting full speeds!
I have tried several things but i am unable to achieve full download speeds on my Windows 10. This has been affecting me for the past around 15 days. Prior to that things used to be normal.
It works fine in diagnostic mode but full speed in regular windows
View 4 RepliesI am running Windows 10 Pro for almost 2 months now on my Lenovo T420 laptop. It's been running great until a couple of weeks ago where it dived bigtime in performance. I suspected it was a new 3rd party battery (had been running great for a couple of weeks as well), which was the problem. The battery did indeed have a problem and without AC power, the laptop would at last not even start. I took the battery out completely and started the laptop on pure AC power and it worked great for another week. Now, I have the problem again.
Main symptoms:
- IO 4x less than usual
- Slow reaction on the entire system
- Applications open and perform very poor and slow
- Windows search never opens for example "dxdiag", I have to run this through the "Run" application.
It's running super slow, IO's is 4x of the normal (see attachments). Random IOps have dropped a lot while sequential read/writes is still the same... Task manager is nowhere near busy and I've tried to disable the page file completely. I do have Symantec AV but this is not affecting the performance at all. Tried to run DISM to check for index corruption, all fine. I also suspected the SATA controller (SSD is not bad since I have tested with another one as well, same result) and tried to update the driver, but to no avail.
i bought lenovo g50-30 last week. installed Windows 7 (have licence) and updated to Windows 10. everything seemed ok. after that i decided to clean install Windows 10. That's where my problems started...
during install when laptop needed to reboot, it didn't, and i made force shutdown, and after turn it on and continued installation. After finish laptop is running normaly. but i can't restart it.
every time i try, it stuck on lenovo screen, and nothings happens. i shutdown it on button, and then turn on and laptop boot ok. so i can shutdown but can't restart my laptop.
already tried disable fast boot but with no success.
Iam not able to adjust brightness on my Lenovo Windows 10 laptop. The short keys don't work and the option in taskbar on clicking the battery icon doesn't work either..
I think I got this problem after the windows update that came a few days ago. My laptop screen is brighter than my future right now and Im forced to use some third party screen filter software to avoid hurting my eyes..
Up until recently Ive had a steady and stable internet connection on all devices, however recently on one laptop the connection is now incredibly slow (multiple tests on bandwidthplace.com show download speeds of 0.1 Mbps while on another laptop connected to the same connection shows over 7mbps). Connection to my android phone works fast too, I don't know what is making this happen, Ive tried resetting the router, refreshing the connection, releasing/renewing the ip. Not sure what to do here, as I don't have this problem connected to other networks, and other devices on this network aren't experiencing the same issues.
I also updated to the latest available driver from my manufacturer's website and I'm not 100% sure if I have all the latest windows updates since the connection is barely sustained, but I believe I do as I frequently manually check for updates in addition to automatic updates being enabled.

I recently updated my HP ENVY laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 & immediately started having issues with my WIFI speed. I was able to connect to the wireless network just fine with no limited connectivity, etc but the speed crawls. It's only my laptop...all other wifi devices are running with no noticeable difference. I went through a bunch of troubleshooting steps and couldn't get it to improve.
I was able to figure out my wifi speed is great when my laptop is connected to ac power, but immediately drops speed when unplugged. All of my initial troubleshooting was on battery power.
I checked the driver Power Management tab and unchecked the Allow the computer.... option. Also Control Panel-Power Options and changed the Wireless Adapter Settings to be on Maximum Performance for both On Battery & Plugged In.

In June a friend bought a Lenovo Z50-70 laptop running Win 8.1. He particularly dislikes touchpads so uses a mouse. In 8.1 I was able to disable the touchpad for him, via Device Manager. He's now updated to Win 10 and the touchpad has come back to life. I've been trying to disable it again, so far without success.
In "Settings", the only option under touchpad is to alter the delay on using "click". I went to Control Panel.
In "Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices" there are only two options, "HID-compliant mouse" (which has a disable option) and "Lenovo Pointing Device", which I assume refers to the touch pad (is this assumption right?) and which can be uninstalled but has no "disable" option.
In "Device Manager > Human Interface Devices" amongst other things there are two entries both named "HID-compliant vendor-defined device". Both can potentially be disabled, but without further knowledge I'm disinclined to disable them in case I inadvertently disable the mouse in the process.
I have a Lenovo Z575 laptop w/ Windows 10. I recently updated to Windows 10 a couple months ago and everything was fine up until recently. I've been having this issue the past couple of days where I try to load up a webpage, it states that connection has timed out, so I use the Troubleshoot Problems option for my wifi, and it gives me the statement "One or more network protocols are missing". I used the "netsh int ip reset" command in the Command Prompt, and that seemed to work at first, but yesterday it happened again, only this time, it seems to pick and choose what pages load.

View 12 RepliesI tested the internal HDD with CrystalDiskMark and was able to get 109 MBPS both on sequential read and write tests. Then, when I tested my 1 TB WD My Passport USB 3.0 External HDD with CrystalDiskMark the sequential read and write speed did not exceed 40 MBPS the few times I tried. Got similar 30-40 MBPS speed when transferring movies from external HDD to internal HDD.So far, I have tried updating the external HDD and USB 3.0 Controller drivers. Tried with 'USB selective suspend setting' disabled (Under Power Plan Options). Also tried with write caching enabled. But havent been able to solve the issue.My laptop is running Win 10 Home 64-Bit. I am sure I used the USB 3.0 port. And, I used the USB 3.0 cable supplied with the external HDD. I don't have another USB 3.0 device so cannot figure out whether the issue is with my laptop of the external HDD.'
View 4 RepliesI did a search and only found hits referring to a metered and/or WiFi connection, neither of which applies to me.
I have only a (nominal) 2Mbps connection -- which is the fastest available in my neighborhood. This has been a problem with Windows updates all along, but since I've upgraded to Win10, the trouble is exacerbated to the point that the internet is sometimes unusable when I'm getting an update from MS. This is especially problematic in that my spouse works online for a living, so MS eating up the bandwidth affects her job directly.
So, my question is in two parts:
1. Is there any setting whereby I can limit the download speed of the Windows updates? I don't wish to defer or stop any, just make them very low priority for bandwidth.
2. Is there any setting/switch I can toggle that will show (like the old flag icon in Win7) that there are Windows Updates downloading, so that I can tell whether any internet sluggishness is because of Windows or just the connection itself (which, living here the Third World, is far from constant). I'm hoping to document these fluctuations for an ongoing attempt to get better service from our ISP.
I realize this isn't really the place to lodge a complaint with Microsoft, but it sure would be nice if they (and other international software companies) would consider those of us who do not live in Redmond, Chattanooga, or other places with light-speed internet connections when they set things up.
I have had windows 10 for about a month now and have had no problems. Today some updates were installed and straight after that my browsing speed became pretty much unusable. I have 160mbps download speed and have no problem browsing on other devices.
I cant watch a simple youtube video or download anything and am a bit lost.
After downloading Windows 10, my internet speed went significantly down, from 35 mbps to 4 mbps. I recovered my original Windows 8.1, hoping it was the new Windows that was causing the problem, but my computer is still very slow compared to what it used to be. I know the problem is in my computer because the three other PC's in my house are all working at normal speeds. I ran a virus scan with no luck. Could the Windows 10 upgrade have installed something that's still slowing down my internet?
View 1 RepliesI ran the window 10 installation last night on my Lenovo Y50 laptop. Today it is stuck in an endless loop of trying to Preparing Automatic Repair, diagnosing PCs and wanting to restart. I can't get past the limited choice of options to actually do anything useful. I just want to get rid of the thing and go back to Window 8. I am to computer stupid to know how do this. I only recently got the laptop. I don't have a recovery disk.

View 1 RepliesI have a Toshiba Satellite E45DW-C4210 (came preinstalled with Windows 10 so no disc obviously) & it came with some bloatware from Toshiba.
How can I do a "fresh" wipe or whatever you want to call it so only Windows 10 is on the laptop, I don't want any Toshiba software/bloatware on the laptop. Basically just barebones, as if I built my this laptop myself and put a copy of Windows 10 on it. That is what I'm looking to do. I just feel starting over again with nothing but Windows will improve the laptop.
I know you can do a system reset where it wipes all your data & re-installs Windows 10 but then the Toshiba's software is just installed all over again. I don't know if this is possible but if it is how can I achieve this?
I just upgraded to Windows 10 on a brand new Lenovo Z50 laptop. It crashes whenever it is not plugged in with the error message THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER ....
I assume there is some driver that I'm forgetting to download that is related to the battery or something?
Recently, my laptop has been unable to disable adaptive brightness. That is, brightness changing based on the color of what is displayed on screen. This happened after a windows update got stuck, then the laptop ran out of battery. The update has since been completed successfully.
To fix this, I have tried:
Changing setting in power options
Changing setting in Intel Graphics options
Various scripts for similar Lenovo laptops.
None of these have worked?
I do not know why, but ever since (thats when I started downloading again) I have upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10, downloading is really difficult. when I was still using 8.1, I used Orbit downloader to download my files, but since I have upgraded to windows 10, all apps were lost, and for some reason I cant download Orbit again.
Now I have been switching from on Download manager to the other, from Eagle Get, IDM, Jdownloader. still my download speed SUCK, it is slow as a turtle. but when I am playing online games it is fine, my ping is good, when I am streaming videos it is also fast. but when it comes to downloading IT IS SLOW. why ? is it because of the download manager ? I remember updating my Battlefield 4 and the speed is good. but now, it so slow.
