I installed windows 10 in my laptop. But everytime i open it. It will show the desktop icons and all of my apps for few seconds then it will go blank. I cant do anything from my laptop. Its just plain blackĀ
I purchased a hp pavilion laptop a few months ago with Windows 10 pre-installed.
I haven't used it for a few days, turned it on this evening and I got a message on boot up saying
"preparing automatic repairs" and then my screen goes blank 3-5 seconds later.
I do not have a cursor and have tried various keys and different ways of trying to bring up some kind of option. I also tried plugging my laptop into my TV to see if it were perhaps the screen that was going wrong.
So I upgraded to Windows 10 and I was using it and shut down my computer. Now my computer turns on but won't load anything. It shows the windows loading screen for about 5 seconds and then goes blank and sits that way till I turn it off and restart.
So recently I installed a new driver supplied from the GeForce Experience app. I believe it was version 361.43 or so. After installation, I turned off my computer. Come back next day. Turn on laptop, computer bugs out after signing in, then crashes... Now, Windows 10 responded with a few errors. First came DPC watchdog violation. Then came something like nvidkrnl or something. Then nvid something something Fatal error. Finally came less than or equal to. All error reports came on separate occasion. The second and third errors are recurring. Now, I tried uninstalling everything related to Nvidia to see if the issue will be gone (as this has happened before. Uninstalling everything fixed it last time ). None of my recovery points are present.
I was working on this laptop when quite often, after startup or in the middle of something (random), the screen goes blank and flickers, with random lines, etc. but you can't see anything.
When I am able to actually see because the problem hasn't started yet, everything works fine, no slowdowns, etc.
Moving the lid does nothing to alleviate the problem.
What is the potential causes? GPU? Battery? HDD? I did a BIOS test that said the HDD needed to be replaced. Laptop is older, back in the times of Vista. But I don't think it is the OS because this happens right at boot sometimes, other times at the logon screen, and others while inside.
Just installed Win10 on my 4 yr old HP G60535D. Now I have have to re-boot everytime I shut the lid. Played around with power settings, etc etc but no luck. When I first open the lid, I can hear the computer running, a slight mechanical burp of some sort, then nothing... totally blank screen. I have to hold the power button down to shut it off, then re-boot. A 1st world problem for sure, but kind of irritating.
I downloaded and installed the Windows 10 upgrade on Tuesday. Since then my Dell Vostro 3550 laptop will not boot and is stuck on a blank blue screen. I took my laptop to Geek Squad at Best Buy yesterday and he told me Windows 10 is installed but it will not boot. He loaded their MRI operating system with my CD/DVD drive and he told me my files are still on my laptop. They wanted $100.00 to get my files of my laptop into a flash drive. The flash drive cost $30-40. In order for them to fix my laptop, I would have to pay $200.00 for a one year service contract. Then, to solve the problem, they would delete all of my programs, and possibly all my files, from my computer. That totals a minimum cost of $340.00 and that is if they do not find anything else wrong. I told them I could not afford that and I took my laptop home.
When I got home, I tried again to boot my computer and I got this message: WDF_VIOLATION. I ran a pre-boot diagnostic and I got error code 2000-01 42. Msg: Hard Drive 0 - self test unsuccessful. Status = 7. I looked online for information on this error code and found people saying that this means the hard drive has gone bad and needs to be replaced. My laptop was absolutely fine before I downloaded Windows 10 on Tuesday. Now my hard drive is destroyed and my laptop will not boot!
I have msi laptop Windows 7 now I updated online to Windows 10 and reset. After reset now my laptop screen is blank and dash line blinking on top left side. Nothing working tried lot by pressing f10, f2, ctrl+alt+del...
So this started like last week where i get these small lags when my pc freezes for like 1-3 seconds. It can happen when i play games or just browsing. It happens probably like 2 times every hour. This is a problem for me because when i play csgo and im shooting towards someone and everything just lags and i die. It's a small problem but it is really frustrating. And just today while i was playing Arma 3 my pc completely froze and i had to restart it by holding down the button on the case.
This is a problem that has been plaguing me across years and several computers.Every hour or so, and it doesn't seem to matter what application I have open, Windows will become unresponsive for a few seconds. Then it will go away.
On this system I have 8 gb ram and I am running light applications. I have a new i-5 skylake processor and a good asus mobo. And a reputable SSD, too. I just installed windows 10 pro x64 a week ago. I have this problem even without third-party AV, as I found out after I uninstalled my AV.
I recently updated my HP to Windows 10. During setup after I logged in, I got the BSOD. I thought there was nothing wrong until I logged in and found out that I didn't have Start Menu access. About 10 seconds later, the BSOD came up again. Now every time I log in, about 10 to 30 seconds after login, I get the BSOD.
my computer has been acting strange as of 2 days ago. I was initially just browsing the net and everything stopped loading. I thought my internet went out and I shut down my computer thinking nothing of it. I tried starting it up again later that day but it would freeze a few seconds after I log in.
The strange this is, it works for about 5-10 s then my pointer changes to that spinning blue wheel and everything becomes unresponsive. I can't click anything or use my keyboard, but I can still move the pointer. Here are some of the things I've tried:
Restart in safe mode (same type of crashing occurs, can move mouse but can't do anything else)Restart in safe mode with command prompt to run sfc /scannow. (initial attempt froze at 100%, hard rebooted and tried again but now it freezes at the file verification stage)"Reset this PC", ( froze at 8%)
Windows 10 installed beautifully and seems to run fast on my Toshiba laptop but the screen flashes every 30 seconds. When it flashes it looks like a small window opens and closes immediately. Any dialogue box open is reset, and there is disk activity. 2 tasks pop up to the top of the list in Task Manager: dwm.exe and explorer.exe. It happens all the time, whether there are any applications open or not.
Why does my PC keep turning on after going to sleep? it will sleep for like 30 Seconds and then turn back on... ive tried turning off the wake feature and stuff.
Brought new CPU+motherboard. Decided to use windows 10. Getting BSODs all the time, every few seconds or minutes. Sometimes even while installation i getting CLOCK_WATCHDOG_FAILED. If i got lucky and windows successfully installed. It bsoding every few seconds with: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_FAILED, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, HAL_INITALIZATION_FAILED. Can't install any drivers. I tired to use win10,win8,win7-Clean install. Everywhere - same issues, same BSODs.
Hardware(Nothing overclocked): CPU: AMD FX 9590 - CPU and Motherboard was tested in guarantee service via IDA64, SiSoft Sandra. No issues was found. MB: ASRock Fatal1ty 970 Performance GPU: GeForce GTX780 - Have 2 more similar cards. Tried with every of them. Same problem. RAM: 8+8gb 1600mhz Dual-Channel mode. Tested via memtest 1day. No issues. HDD: Have 6HDDs, all was tested. No bad sectors. SMART report also fine. Bsods happens on all of them. PSU: Thermaltake 1200WTT, all voltages looks fine. Anyway i tried with hiPro 1000wtt - same issues.
BIOS have last version v1.20. Tried to reset CMOS. Running windows diagnostic tools gives nothing. When i trying to use windows cmd.exe and run SFC /SCANNOW it gives me BSOD in a few seconds. DISM gives me the same - bsod. Running SFC /scannow via windows DVD says everything fine.
I have a few more old amd FX cpu's. I can try to use them if can find the problem.
I'm using Windows 10 and I changed all of my When Computer Sleeps settings and my screen still goes black after about 30 seconds of inactivity. Not really sure why this happens because I changed all of the settings for the screen shutting off to never.
I've had this issue for a while and haven't really bothered to do anything about it till now. Since I upgrade to Win10 some months ago, I've noticed that every time I start or reboot my PC my internet connection dissappears after the first 5-10 seconds and then returns some ~60 seconds later. The loss of connectivity is not displayed in the Network sys_tray nor will Chrome/Edge tell me I do not have a connection. What happens instead is that the browser tabs take a very long time to load until they all suddenly load at once. Services like steam connect on start up, but then I go into offline mode as soon as I "lose the connection".
I'm not using WiFi and have not changed any hardware since upgrading to Win10. My suspicion is that I'm able to receive packages, but my outgoing packages are being, somehow, blocked. I am using zonealarm but have also tried with it uninstalled.
My second HDD (Samsung HD155UI, 1,5 TB) is, as of today, clicking every 30 seconds, as in briefly parking the head or something. I've been using that drive for over 3 years without one single problem, and only recently (i.e. less than a week ago) did I upgrade to Windows 10 - while at the same time swapping out some parts for good measure - CPU, Motherboard, GPU and RAM. Of course I did the whole clean install shebang, and in the beginning everything ran absolutely smoothly. Installed all of my apps and drivers, moved all of my data back, and no problems whatsoever. Yes, Windows is activated.
Now today I'm playing - ironically - Clicker Heroes on Steam. I usually leave it idling in the background while I'm doing other stuff on the PC, however I've started to notice this regular clicking sound. At first I thought it was my external hard drive - turned that off, no dice. Eavesdropped into my PC and quickly found out it was the secondary HDD, as my main SSD couldn't possibly be the source of the noise. Panic ensued, immediately ran a backup in case the drive went south. During the backup, no clicking whatsoever. After it was done, the clicking resumed.
Chkdsk'd the quick way, and once with /r - during the checks, the drive's quiet as a ninja, but once those completed without errors, click. Click. Click.
CrystalDiskInfo also shows my Drive in good health, and I have the latest firmware for it too. Event viewer showed no irregularities (apart from one single "ID 157 - Disk 2 has been surprise removed"), so I thought it must be some idle setting or power management thing. Checked power options a thousand times, "turn off hard disk after" setting was initially at 20, I set it to 0, then 60, then 120. Nothing changed whatsoever.
BIOS power management settings are all turned off as far as I am concerned. Pretty sure I combed everything through, unless there's some hidden setting.
Now, cue the Resource monitor. It clearly shows some activity spikes (blue curve) every time the drive clicks, which happens exactly every 30 seconds. However, I cannot for the life of me identify what it is that is causing these spikes.
At some point I suspected something with the Chipset or something, maybe RST was messing with my HDD. But uninstalling it (as well as disabling RST in BIOS) yielded no substantial improvement.
So now what's left for me to do is:
- Boot into Safe mode, see if issue prevails there - Plug the SATA cable of the HDD into a different port, see if that changes anything - Try a different hard drive (that I don't have right now so meh) - reinstall Windows 10 (last resort, I'd rather avoid this)
I have this issue where windows seems to hang/get stuck every 5 to 10 seconds for about 2 seconds, like right now while I am typing. I type the words and about three words types out and then hangs for 2 seconds and the rest I typed while stuck gets lost and I have to backspace and restart again.... Same happens with mouse clicks, sometimes when I click it does not register (I presume it is right in that 2 sec delay sweet spot) but the mouse cursor movement is smooth and does not get stuck.
SO I checked my Task Manager and found that RAM,CPU and Network are all low in the 10% - 20%, but my HDD Runs at like 80% -100% all the time. See Screenshots of Task Manager and Resource monitor. The disk keeps getting used full load every 5 to 10 sec.
I have tried disabling Disk Defragment service in the Task Scheduler and several other tips I found on the net but no luck.
I have had windows 10 since the Insider program started but I never needed to use sleep until now. But whenever I put my computer to sleep it wakes up 30 seconds later. I have made sure that my network card, keyboard, mouse and controllers aren't allowed wake the computer. How can I stop my Computer waking up?
I have a problem with my mouse. For some reason, my razer mouse keeps freezing when I'm using it. I can use it for maybe 30 seconds, and it will cut out in 10 seconds, and then come back. I have used this mouse in about 2 years without a problem, but it started occurring about 10 days ago. I don't know if the mouse is broken, or if it's installed incorrectly.
When ever i hold a key down for 10 seconds the pc beeps, then the key repeats till i click that key twice. i have been trying to turn this off so i can play some games.
I have tried turning off filter keys and sticky keys in both the ease of access screen from settings and "Control PanelEase of AccessEase of Access CenterMake the keyboard easier to use".
