View 1 RepliesFor some reason, ever since i built my computer back in late 2014, it has been going very slow. Programs take awhile to start up and the initial boot takes about 5-7 minutes. However, all the games I play run very well. I actually overclock both my CPU and GPU with low temps. My specs are as follows:
GPU: AMD Gigabyte R9 270 w/ 2gigs vRAM
CPU: AMD FX 6300 OC'd to 4.0GHz
RAM: 8gigs of 1333MHz DDR3
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
PSU: Sentey 725w
Edit: I forgot to mention that the USB 3.0 ports rarely work. This has been a problem ever since I got the mobo. I will probably just call Gigabyte at some point if no is able to figure that out
I've been having this issue for a long time (not sure how long), some internet pages that require the browser to load resources/images/whatever are laggy as all hell. Sometimes they load fine, but other times it takes forever to load thumbnails of videos on Youtube or images on Google Images.I clean my cache and registry, using CCleaner, fairly often so it's not a clutter issue. I scan my computer fairly often too, using Malwarebytes and Windows Defender, and never found a threat so it's not a virus/malware issue. I have no internet toolbars, speed enhancing apps or any other programs of the kind. I also have my drivers up to date.
View 3 RepliesI've a sony laptop cum tablet (ultra book) with intel core i7 processor. I updated to Windows 10 today (previous version Pro windows 8). The install was successful but after the install my start up screen started flickering. I shut down and restarted the laptop and now the opening screen is frozen at the log in page which says- 'fast access, face recognition'. The camera is also not working to recognize the face. I'm also not able to log in manually. (I used to have face recognition mode with pro windows 8)
The laptop is not shutting down any more and don't accept alt+cont+delete command.
Recently I have had a repeating issue with the (egg) timer running constantly. I have been unable to stop it or to close the current program or web page which appears to be involved. What is happening? I thought it might be due to RAM running too low but that does not seem to be the case --- I can keep a constant check on RAM and use utilities to free it up at will. So if not RAM, what is it and what can i do about it?
View 7 RepliesWhen I had Windows 7, I put a shortcut to Control Panel in the startup folder (I used to need it to start at startup). Now I am on Windows 10 and it still starts at startup. I deleted from the folder (looked up where it was) and checked in task manager if it was set to run at startup but it wasn't there.
View 2 RepliesI wrote a program that runs on windows 10 just fine from a shortcut on the desktop. I copied the shortcut to the startup folder for my account and did all the compatibility changes so it would run. It worked fine after a few test startups but now all the sudden it no longer works.
Not sure if MS installed any updates between it working and not working, all I know is it ain't working now. It shows up in task manager but really isn't running.
I've been having some BSODs both on startup and while running some programs. Most recently I got a Page Fault in Nonpaged Area while using Firefox. While running Diablo 3 last month I got a Memory Management BSOD. On boot last month I got an IRQL Not Less or Equal BSOD.
View 8 RepliesI have a large number of TCP connections open even immediately after a reboot. It's normally around 200 with only Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Know Brainer, Norton Security and my VoIP phone (X-Lite) along with a few other minor programs and normal Windows 10 background tasks running. I run Malwarebytes regularly and never find anything wrong and have Norton Security set at maximum levels. I'm attaching a file from TCPviewer that was taken immediately after a reboot as an example.
View 3 RepliesThis one is aggravating. File Explorer keeps loading at startup. The client can't say for certain if the issue was present before or after upgrading from Win7. This wasn't the primary issue- there was malware present on the system. I have run Adwcleaner, Malwarebytes, TDSSKiller, Rogue Killer, and aswMBR scanner. System is returning clean logs now.
I also installed Revo Uninstaller and removed Adobe Acrobat DC and CutePDF, as I've read that Adobe will cause this issue, and since there were 2 PDF viewers install I suspected some conflict.
I have tried using regedit, but the two suggestions I found from Microsoft- the reg entries don't exist for win10
The upper right profile picture on the default Startup Page of Microsoft Edge doesn't update. It keeps displaying the first profile picture I used when I installed Windows 10.Maybe it's a detail for most of the people but being a nitpicker, and not being given any option to modify it directly (and it should be tied to the Microsoft Account. All my other (tied to Microsoft account) profile pictures, on my phone (Nokia 1020/909) as well as on the online Microsoft services and Windows 10 update correctly, almost instantly, but not this one.
By the way, any valid link to download the WinDbg tool for Windows 10 (not the 8.1 one)? The official one doesn't work. Had found one that was working but I can't find it again. Got some random BSOD, probably tied to (a)faulty RAM stick(s), but I need to do further investigations, and the system restore deleted the tool installation.
It is so hot to touch I now have to run cooling pad under the laptop, the fans just dont stop spinning it is so noisy now....
View 5 RepliesI had installed windows 10 from betas and i have never reached 80 celsius on my laptop. i am measuring my temperatures with speedfan and also tried with hardwaremonitor but the same readings. my laptop fan is running on very low RPM if it is even running, i searched for programs that can control fan speed but without luck. i dont know whats wrong and i want to fix it ASAP because my laptop life is decreasing because of higher temps. my usage is not even that big. i have only 7 chrome tabs opened.
View 5 RepliesI have a Toshiba Laptop with an AMD processor, 4gb Ram, 500 Gig hard drive with 366gb free. It is running very slow. I have over 70 processes running. I'm pretty sure I don't need that many but I don't know what is needed and what is not. I've tried to copy the list but can't figure out how to do it. I'm using open office.
View 4 RepliesEver since i updated my laptop to windows 10, the fan has been running on full speed and i am not running anything intensive (just Firefox), task manager shows some Microsoft background task host and i really don't want to change back to 8.1.

Started experiencing this problem like 3 days back. When I click icons on the taskbar (including Cortana, Network, Battery, and Action Center) in Windows 10 Pro Build 10586 , the expected flyout does not open or sometimes it opens too slowly like 2 or 4 minutes after i clicked. Cortana is not at all responsive even after clicking...Start button is working fine right now but seems to have started a bit lag..
View 7 RepliesI have a Lenovo G500 upgraded to Windows 10. Last night I switched it off but now when I turn it on, it stuck in the startup Lenovo logo. I think that it is a driver issue but I cannot boot it in safe mode to fix it? What can I do? ( I don't mind to lose my files) .
View 1 RepliesTwo weeks ago the startup menu and cortana stopped working on my laptop. When I click on the startup menu icon (the little window icon), I get an error message that tells me to sign out, that windows functions aren't working, and that the computer will attempt to fix the issues when I sign back in.
When I click on the internet icon in the taskbar, nothing happens (something should pop up on the side that lets me choose wifi).
I have tried several fixes I found on google, but none have worked. I have tried running powershell from the command prompt (with admin privileges). I tried to look up cortana and search in my task manager to try to disable them, but they weren't there.
I was hoping a future windows update would fix the problem, but my laptop won't update. At the moment I am considering uninstalling the most recent updates, as this happened a day or so after installing updates.
I have installed windows 10 pro a couple of days ago and I now experience a strange behavior from excel (office 2013). I suspect this worked when booting new OS for the first time.
When I open any excel file from any location on any hard drive (ssd or hdd) it takes around 10 or more seconds for the file to open. When first opening excel itself and opening any file from inside of excel, everything is instant. This issue is not uncommon, however none of the solutions I found online worked for me.
I also tried to run windows without any non-microsoft services, disabled all start up programs, issue remained. Reinstalled office too. All the other office programs work correctly.

View 2 RepliesI have installed windows 10 from windows 7 and now I have problems with my laptop keyboard, it affects all keys. The keys have to be pressed very slowly to work. I rebooted yesterday and it was ok for a while then the problem returned. It has taken me 6 minutes to type this in.
View 5 RepliesI have a desktop computer, it was working fine almost a year and now from a few days I am having a serious issue and that is when using my computer (generally or during gaming) it displays an error i.e PAGE_FAULT_FOUND_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA. The screen turns pink and the edges are green (that's probably because of the resolution as I use 3840x2160 so the error kinds of destorts) but that's not the real issue, the main problem is the error itself.
My Computer specifications :
Intel i7 4790
Asus Maximus VII Formula ROG
Kingston 8GBx2 DD3 Ram (Simple ones, not the gaming ones)
1TBx2 Seagate HDD
Asus GeForce Titan X
Corsair CX850M.
after windows 10 upgrade cursor is frozen i have tried to reboot, remove battery for certain amount of time, trouble shoot the hardware, nothing works.
when i start up the computer i am able use the mouse but once it properly boots up THE MOUSE IS FROZEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN
My 2 year old computer did a windows 10 update overnight and I woke up to a frozen computer. It is stuck right before the desktop. I cannot do anything. I've pressed the normal buttons one would press and Nada.
Rebooted by way of the power button. Boots to the same screen before the desktop and freezes. I cannot get into startmenu to get to safe mode.
getting these frozen scroll bars on their screen. They dont go away when I refresh or close my laptop screen. Only way is restarting the computer. They overlap on the current screen and dont go away.I havent been able to find anything about them.
View 1 RepliesI have Windows 10 and my email is through gmail. I can access it through my phone or the gmail link from Google, but the last 24 hours when I click on the envelope (mail) link at the bottom of my desktop, my email screen opens up but nothing is responding. I can't select any email to read or select any option--the screen is completely frozen. I have noticed since the Windows 10 download that the email screen instantly displays all older mail, but is slow to cough up any new ones. That wasn't a problem with the 8.1. I'm not a "techy" person, but wonder what I can do or how can I report a frozen email screen?
