Aug 6, 2015Having switched from Windows 8 to 10 I find that most of my files have either no history of saved items or very limited history going back only a month or so.

Performance :: File History Skipping Files / Folders
Feb 10, 2016I have custom libraries set up to back up my X:Pictures directory and it's been backing up just fine. I dumped a large amount of pictures to a sub folder and didn't get around to deleting the bad ones before file history threw them on my history drive. No big deal, I went through the files at their main location and deleted the bad ones and then simply deleted the entire sub folder from the file history drive and then forced file history to run.
It's no longer backing them up.
I changed my settings to back up every 10 minutes and keep forever and forced again.
There's about 800GB of free space left so that's not an issue. I tried a restart and I even tried to wait the 10 minutes. It's still not backing them up again.
If I delete a file inside that sub directory and leave it in the recycle bin and then go to previous versions for the sub folder, it shows previous versions. When I choose to restore from one, it tells me the file is no longer in the location. It seems there's an index somewhere that needs to be deleted that's telling file history that I have files backed up that I manually deleted. In relation to that, what's the best practice to remove backed up files that I wouldn't mind backing up again. The scenario I pointed out happens quite often actually. I take a thousand pictures and don't get to deleting the bad ones before file history backs them up.
Performance :: Using File History To Recover Files From A Different Machine?
Jan 14, 2016I had File History turned on an old machine that I'd upgraded to Windows 10. The machine was working fine with File History backing up files to an external storage drive. The machine died recently (motherboard completely not working) and now I have a new machine with Windows 10.
However I want to restore my files from the File History backups I had for my old machine, but I can't figure out how to make it work. Whenever I try to use the same external location as my File History drive it just makes a new backup with a different folder for my new machine.
How is this supposed to work?

Nov 21, 2015I receive many e-mails in my Yahoo account every day since I am subscribed to many threads in this forum. Recently I noticed that I cannot access Yahoo mail. In Yahoo support they suggest deleting the browsing history. I did it and was able to access my e-mails again only to have the same problem next day. Is there any setting in Internet Explorer or Yahoo that would fix the problem without having to delete browsing history every day? Since I mostly use IE I am not sure if this problem appears in Microsoft Edge, Firefox or Google Chrome, but I would prefer keep using IE.

Apr 14, 2016After the latest update which supposedly fix the InPrivate cache problem, it actually got worse. If you browse anything in InPrivate, the browsing history actually shows up in the regular session.
You can try:
Open EdgeOpen an InPrivate window side by sideDo some browsing in InPrivateNow go back to the regular window and check the history (1st button on the right -> 3rd clock tab), InPrivate browsing history shows up in there.
I've managed to reproduce this both on my tablet and my desktop.
EDIT: I'm running 10586.104.

Aug 30, 2015Some files get backed up by File History but not Desktop or files on Desktop. I have excluded Videos, Documents, Music and Pictures as I do not want these backed up with File History.
I have turned off File History and turned it back on again, reselected the backup drive F: and selected the only folder in File History...
However, Desktop is in my user profile...
What have I done incorrectly or not done correctly?

I have 4 separate email accounts in "live mail".

Sep 5, 2015Every time I turn on the computer, my wifi is always there. when I come back from sleep mode, it is not. no wifi options are available in the network section.
it is not signal strength. I had a slight USB issue, but as I said, I always get wifi when I turn it on, so seems any USB issue would show up when I boot either way..
Is the power surge to the USB ports the same whether you boot from off versus from sleep? is coming back from sleep different somehow than powering up from off?
Hardware Loss After Driver Updates

As a result I have lost the following hardware, which are not detected as being installed:
1. The battery --- there is no battery power
2. Sound ---- there are no audio devices
3. The webcams --- no camera or video devices are detected

Dec 27, 2015I am currently trying to convert my mSATA SSD from MBR to GPT. I have downloaded EaseUS partition master and can see that I can convert the disk using the software. My question is however if this is possible to do with my mSATA drive that my PC boots from and has Windows 10 installed or does it have to be a drive that is not booted from. I know there are lots of threads on this however none specify of this is possible using the drive you are booted from.

Apr 7, 2016One of my computers has suddenly lost internet access, and as far as I can remember all I was doing last time I used it was going on the internet to websites I normally go to. All other computers and devices are fine. The computer in question says WiFi is connected, but no programs can access it including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and my VPN. I haven't noticed any other problems on that computer.
Here's what I've tried so far:
Troubleshooting internet connection - no problems detected
Scanning with Webroot - no threats detected
Turning OFF Webroot - no change
When I try to access a website with Google Chrome I get the error message DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET.
Complete Loss Of Desktop Functionality After Upgrade

I was using Windows 7 with an external wifi adapter for internet access and the computer was perfectly fine. Upon upgrading to Windows 10, I instantly ran into issues that quickly grew worse. From the get go, I was unable to utilize anything on the taskbar, including icons that I placed there like Chrome and the newly installed Edge. The search bar was likewise inaccessible and now, after multiple restarts, I can no longer use the Start button with either mouse or keyboard. The internet icon on the taskbar will not work and even when attempting to access the internet after hitting ctr+alt+del, I find that the computer cannot even detect a connection, even though I know it should be able to. After a few minutes trying to mess around with other fuctions, the entire computer basically freezes and the entire computer locks up forcing a hard reboot.
Pictures and videos will not load (I can click on the My Computer icon on the desktop and access everything there), the computer telling me the files are corrupted. Same goes for documents, and games will not launch (Steam obviously cannot connect).
For lack of a better term, this issue is... weird. It's like I only have selective functionality over certain programs, although its selective enough that it has basically rendered my PC useless. I cannot even figure out how to uninstall Windows 10 because I can't access the Start menu.
Upgrade Fail Due To WiFi Connection Loss?
Jul 27, 2015I was upgrading from WP8.1 to W10 and all was going fine but then my internet connection went off for about 1 minute and then back on. Ever since that happened, the phone has been restarting (Nokia logo) and then the cogs are displayed for abt 15 seconds and the phone switches off. It repeats this if the USB cable is plugged in. I cannot use my phone.

Aug 17, 2015Since I upgraded from 8.1 --> 10, I've occasionally been having an issue where my my PC constantly beeps (through the normal speakers) and I lose control over the mouse. URL....Beeping sound is playing through normal speakers, not from inside the tower. I have limited movement of the cursor, but unable to click on ANYTHING.I've been trying to narrow down potential causes, by disconnecting various input devices. One thing to note is that this sometimes occurs WHEN an input device is disconnected or reconnected. These devices include:
-Logitech G502 mouse
-Corsair K70 Keyboard
-Logitech M310 wireless mouse (sometimes used for control of Netflix from my couch)
-Saitek X-52 Pro Hotas (with programming software)
-CH Products Flight Pedals
-Xbox 360 controller
-and another thing-
a program called "SVmapper," which enables the use of the eight otherwise useless buttons on the base of the X-52 Pro's throttle. Normally, those buttons are used to start and stop a small timer built into the throttle, change modes, and generally very useless crap. SVmapper intercepts those button presses and instead outputs a keyboard command to the video game in use. (For example: the x-52 doesn't have enough buttons for me to map essential controls AND landing gear control to the hotas. When I use SVmapper, it gives me 8 extra usable buttons!) [URL] ....
I'm suspecting SVmapper, but I have yet to prove or disprove anything yet. According to my searches, I've heard of a (somewhat) similar problem in Windows 8 related to StickyKeys, FilterKeys, or some other UselessKeys option. Only way I can regain control of my PC is by holding the front power button on my tower. I've tried Task Manger to stop processes (doesn't work) and rebooting with ctrl+alt+del (also inoperative). I'm trying to at least make this PC last until I can get a Skylake CPU (+motherboard +appropriate RAM).
PC Performance Loss After NVIDIA Driver Update
Aug 18, 2015General decrease in PC performance. So yesterday I updated my NVIDIA drivers from GeForce Experience (driver version 355.60) and ever since that my PC's performance has dropped considerably. Things are generally slower, but it is most most noticeable in games.
before the driver update I would get solid 60+ FPS in Battlefield 4 at Ultra settings, but now the average is 30-40 FPS on medium settings. Same situation for all my other games. I have tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, and installing an older driver to no avail.

Loss Of Hotmail Account Locks New Tablet Completely
Dec 19, 2015My new win 10 tablet is asking to the pw to this account, since the Hotmail account does not exist how can I get into my computer now! While windows 10 is seeking this email address, I am totally unable to access my tablet.
How can I fix this without a compete restart which will loose some valuable information that was stored on it. As this is a new system, there are no backups made.
Drivers :: Loss Of Driver For SATA RAID Controller During Upgrade
Nov 5, 2015I am finding the correct driver for my SATA RAID controller which is operating two mirrored 2TB hard drives. The computer still recognizes the controller being installed at the BIOS level. But currently Windows doesn't see the controller card or hard drives.
Information on the card is; Sil 3124 PCI/PCI-X to 4 port SATA300
System information is: AMD 64x2 Dual Core 5800+ 3.00GHZ with 6GB RAM operating Windows 10 Pro.
Security :: Norton 360 Install Results In Loss Of Internet Connectivity?
Jan 14, 2016I just purchased a new laptop with Windows 10.
After installing Norton 360 antivirus, Firefox says "server not found" when I try to go to a web page.
Network trouble shooter says There are "missing network protocols and socket registry entries".
I reinstalled my network adapters and reset the winsock catalog and int ip sadly this did not work.
I contacted Norton tech support and they remotely installed the newest version that is supposed to be compatible with Win 10 however , about 5 min after hanging up the same problems are back.
Drivers/Hardware :: Hard Drive Space Loss After Expanding Partition
Oct 15, 2015I have a 120 gig solid state hard drive, that I have my OS installed on (Windows 10)
I was going to install windows 7 on a second partition on that hard drive, so I shrank the current partition and it gave me unallocated space.
I had a few people tell me it wasn't possible to install windows 7 on the same hard drive as windows 10... for some reason or another.
So I decided to expand the partition back to its original size (the whole hard drive).
Before I shrunk the partition.. I had 60 gigs left, I shrunk it by 20 to install windows 7 on.
Well after some people told me it wouldn't work. I decide to re-expand the partition to take back up the whole drive.
Problem is, when I did that.. I loss that 20 gigs, it says that 20 gigs is 'used' space now. I tried scanning the hard drive for errors and defragging (won't let me defrag that drive.. I assume cause its either a solid state drive or the windows drive)
I don't know how to get that lost 20 gigs back.
