Used free upgrade to install Win 10 Pro 64bit to desktop computer. After successful installation, used Start button then Settings, to select Tablet Mode. After restart cannot access Settings from Start button or Action Center. How can I turn off Tablet Mode?

View 7 RepliesI have my laptop hooked up to an external display via HDMI. The projection settings made using Winkey + P gets reset to "Duplicate" every time I reboot, and I have to go in and manually change it back to "Second screen only".
Is there still a way to set this permanently? With Win 7 and 8.x there was a "Multiple displays" option under the Screen Resolution control panel, but this control panel seems to have been completely redesigned in Win 10
You know how when you click on the 3 dots you get a options list. Well all of a sudden from the change size tool and the next 4 are greyed out will no longer work.
View 2 RepliesI upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7. All was working fine. Now, I can't access the modern start screen, cortana or apps. The following things might have cause this: I changed my PCs name, I installed more ram, I created a local log in and there was an update just before this happened. I tried to use a restore point but the laptop said it failed. I have tried the powershell solution with no luck. I have tried creating a new user but it won't let me add a new user.
View 2 Repliesi was using Windows 10 Enterprise . And from automatic update, i lost my most important files . But , i have now recovered them . Now, the problem is that only two apps i.e. Cortana and Microsoft Edge are coming . And i can't find store,outlook,news and other apps etc .

First of all I'll make a complaint. I am very disappointed with Windows 10. It's been one of the worst Windows ever made and sooner or later I will switch from Windows to some normal OS sofware. I have been let down too many times by it (not just 10 but all of the former as well) and I decided it's simply not worth my time, money and nerves.
Today Windows decided to do an upgrade on my computer and when I turned it on it said it was preparing something. After the welcome screen, I realized all my documents on the desktop have been missing, including majority of the shortcuts.
All the settings have been reverted, including theme, desktop image, default programs. In short, there's not much left untouched.
What's utterly intolerable it somehow deleted ALL my personal documents, pictures, literally EVERYTHING is lost. I just can't put up with it anymore. There were several files I need for my work, everything is simply gone.
A couple days ago I used safe mode to fix a startup program causing a bsod. Possibly worth noting: I had to use a bootable Windows 10 USB, use the repair options, enter the "BCDEDIT /SET {DEFAULT} BOOTMENUPOLICY LEGACY" command, to then use F8 to access boot options and safe mode.
The problem I'm facing now is some other (not all, fortunately), unrelated programs (or apps or whatever MS feels it's trendy to call them) are showing up as if they were just installed. Anything that's user settings was reset.
I don't regularly use safe mode, so my questions are:
- Is safe mode known for resetting software to default/factory settings?
- If yes, what would be an efficient way to prevent it? Maybe backup the relevant data and restore it after using safe mode?
- If safe mode does not reset anything, what could have caused my settings to be lost in the Warp? Enabling the "legacy" (F8-friendly) boot shouldn't have anything to do with this... right?
Most notably, Launchy and BitTorrentSync were reset to "just installed" state. There might be more I just didn't run yet.
I noticed a folder named" Windows.migrated" and I deleted in error thinking it wasn't necessary anymore. This was after i upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1 to 10. Unfortunately it caused ALL my store apps including the default ones to be deleted. I'm a bit lost of what to do now. I don't have a restore point to access.

He presses it via the start>settings but it just flashes up then goes off.
Has tried the Windows key + i same thing happens

I cannot access my settings menu at all. I did the express install instead of the manual one for windows 10. I am using a Lenovo h515, that i upgraded from windows 8.1. Can I use a power shell command to fix this? If so what is the command so I can get my settings back.
View 14 RepliesI recently upgraded to Win 10 on my laptop but it's completely broken. I boot up and sign in ok but then I just get a black screen with a cursor. The only way I can access anything is through the task manager > run new task. I've tried everything but nothing works so I want to rollback to Win 7.
But the problem is that in order to do so I need to access settings which I'm unable to. I can click the link under user controls in control panel but nothing happens. I tried a fix (Settings doesnt launch, or launches the Store instead - Microsoft Community) but it didn't work. There doesn't seem to be any way of accessing it and hence no way of rolling back.
This is pretty straightforward: I cannot access the settings for the start menu. When I do a right click on the task bar and then click on "properties", I should have a "Start menu" tab in the window. The problem is : I don't have that tab.
Also, I don't have the possibility to pin apps to the start menu, this is a bit annoying.
Since i have downloaded 10 i can not access the settings menu .All that happens when i press settings is a white flash and nothing.
View 1 RepliesSo Im trying to install a new graphics card, and I have to tweak some settings in the bios. Unfortunately, when I try to open it(pressing escape at startup, scrolling down, and selecting uefi settings and pressing enter) nothing happens. I looked this up, and it said to go to advanced startup and go through some steps to get to a menu that supposedly contains "uefi firmware settings". Now, I confirmed that this is the right menu, but the option is just not there. I thought about updating my BIOS, but there are no updates for it available.
View 9 RepliesWhen I try and access sign-in options in the settings account screen, I get the dreaded dots that shoot across the screen but the sign-in options don't open.
Also i cannot access my microsoft account, when I try I just get the circle of dots.
When I try to access Settings, I get the following error:

I tried the command-line suggested and right after I hit enter, I get a flash of a window popping up on my screen and then it's gone. It's so quick I can't see what it's trying to open.
So, I recently upgraded to windows 10, and I was trying to change some settings to do with my mouse, and when I tried to open the additional mouse options: settings>devices>Mouse & Touchpad, but whenever I click "addition mouse options" an error comes up saying "windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them" however, I have administrator access on my computer. This was working before I upgraded to windows 10 (I was on windows 7)
View 4 RepliesPower & Sleep settings won't save my screen brightness settings. On my plugged in HP laptop default the screen brightness is set to maximum despite making changes in the Power & Sleep menu screen. I've even tried creating my own Power Plan but the next time it restarts it changes to the HP recommended power plan which sets the screen brightness to maximum.
View 1 RepliesMy internet worked fine and I didn't do any changes to it up until it stopped working. I've managed to fix the internet access to allow me to access the internet on my laptop through wi-fi but network access still says no internet access. Websites work however ethernet does not work! I can't connect online on my playstation because ethernet doesn't work. I've tried disabling and enabling the ethernet. I checked the cables, I re-installed the drivers and i turned off and on the router more than I could count.
The internet works on my laptop however a connection test on my playstation 3 says obtain ip address succeeded and internet connection failed. So I can't play online. I am absolutely certain the playstation 3 is not fault as I checked vigurously the settings and I've put in the right connections, however it still does not work? Should I buy new cables for the router?
How can I retrieve it or is it lost for good.
