View 1 RepliesGetting update errors but don't have office 2010 on this system.
View 2 RepliesMy laptop has been having issues starting up for a week or so. Today when I booted it up, it basically said you can either reset it or turn it off. I was hoping that it would fix whatever the problem has been. The reset removed MS Office and a few other programs I use a lot. I have MS Office on a thumb drive, but it said that the operating system is not configured to run the program.
View 1 RepliesI recently upgraded to W10 and now when I try to change a form in Access 2010 DB It errors and has to close. The error is : Faulting module path: C:PROGRA~2COMMON~1MICROS~1VBAVBA7VBE7.DLL. If I undo the change then all is fine. There was a problem I found on Google with same error but due to SP1 for office. The mail just sits in the outbox. error 0x800CCC13
Office (2016) worked fine until I upgraded windows 10 to TH2 then stopped working and now crashes on startup. I have tried the quick repair and the online repair and even clean installing the program finding out that it still crashes.
View 2 RepliesPROBLEM: MS Office 2013 can't save files anywhere except in OneDrive (which I don't want to use).
BACKGROUND: Win10 upgrade on Alienware 17 R2 (2015 model) from 8.1 went well - no errors. After using for a few days (normal shutdown / startups), used MS Word to create a document.
Created my documentWent to file save dialogue, typed in filename e.g. "status update.docx".Almost immediately, the MS Word file save dialogue popped back up with the same filename, but now appended with a "1" e.g. "statusupdate1.docx" and received an error message (1st clue things aren't right)Hit 'Save' and everything looks okay except the document name shown at the top of MS Word is "Document1" (2nd clue things aren't right)Choose 'File, Close' and dialogue "Want to save your changes to Document1?" pops up (3rd clue)Choose 'Save' and "statusupdate1.docx" appears as the filename -- no matter how many times I hit 'Save' the 'Save as' dialogue keeps coming back with the "statusupdate1.docx" filenameI'm forced to choose 'Don't Save' in the dialogue to exit MS WordI CAN'T save in docx, docm, or doc in any location EXCEPT OneDriveI CAN save rtf versions everywhere
ACTIONS TAKEN:
Checked the web for fixes but didn't find any that workedRan sfc /scannowRan dism /Online /Cleanup-image /RestorehealthChose to completely remove MS Office 2013 and reinstall (used Microsoft's MSO total removal tool which removes all registry entries in addition to removing the files)After re-installation, experienced the same problem with MS Excel files (new problem after remove/install cycle)Checked out Microsoft's Known Issues with Office and Windows 10, but no joy - [URL] .... Now every time I use Word, it also tries to save normal.docx which it can't save, and which takes multiple steps to finally abandon saving. Since word is used by Outlook, it also means that I have the normal.docx style sheet issue when composing mail or opening attachments. Installed Office 2016 in trial mode. No change. Exactly the same problem with Office 2016 as Office 2013.
My upgrade (laptop) went smoothly. However, a friend upgraded her computer and said her pictures are lost. I tried talking her through searching for them, and she said the ones that appear are 0 bytes in size. Of course, she should have backed up her files beforehand, but she's past that point.
If she rolls back to 7, might she get her pix back? If she rolls back to 7, can she reupgrade to 10?
OK I did my windows 10 upgrade now on three machines. two of the machines were single user windows 8.1 prior to upgrade, but one was a Windows 7 Pro machine. I ran the upgrade, but lost my kids user id log on. I had a user id for them set up as a user with no admin rights and no password. I am not opposed to it having a password, now that the kids are teenagers, but I can't figure out how to recreate the user ID so that it is attached to all there saved files. Lots of schoolwork was saved on there ID. I can access it with my admin user account, but want to restore there id.
View 3 RepliesI upgraded from 8.1 to 10 and lost LAN, so could not connect to internet. Troubleshooter advised a possible driver problem with the network card, however the Realtek GBT family card showed up as working in device manager. Researching Internet came up with no solution. I rolled back to 8.1, found updated drivers for the network card, installed them, and upgraded again. Still the same problem. A friend upgrading from 7 had the same problem and with the same network card, and wireless. I realised we both had PrivateFirewall installed, and as soon as I uninistalled it, Internet was working again.
View 4 RepliesI have an Acer laptop that is only used for the Internet. The OS was recently upgraded to Windows 10, not by me. The problem is a forgotten or misused password. I can't get beyond enter your password. I'd like to reset the password, but Windows 10 isn't letting me do that.
View 1 RepliesAfter WIndows 10 Upgrade, I lost my printer on devices. I re-install the printer's driver and still it doesn't print. All my documents were in queued all the time. And then I visited my "Devices" again and found there were already 2 printers (the other one is with 'Copy 1') - most probably that's the one I recently installed.
Question: Does my printer really was lost after Windows 10 upgrade? or it's just there and I just have to do something...? Now, that I have re-installed the driver (Brother DCP-J100) and it appeared I have 2, am I going to uninstall it? It doesn't work now, I cannot print, in general, what will I do?
Pictures, videos and documents have been deleted when I upgraded to Win 10.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 over 4 days ago. After windows 10 was up, all the folders/files in my desktop were moved somewhere. I did a file search and moved them back to the desktop. I was on a general user admin account. Shortly after, I logged into my outlook account on windows 10. Could still see all the files/folders on my desktop.
But when I rebooted my pc for 1st time after upgrading to windows 10, all the desktop files/folders disappeared. File search could only find the icon links in ..../Recent folder. No physical files/folders exist for those icon links. Online MS techs had tried to look into my pc remotely but they could not find anything. One online tech suggested Office 365 could recover them since the files may be saved in Office app, but I used Office to search for the files with no success.
All other personal files/folders not saved on desktop are still OK. All was lost for the files/folders on desktop?
I had files saved in the 'guest' profile on the old OS, and since Windows 10, the guest account seems to have dissappeared? There are photos saved on the old guest profile that I would like to access.
Surely, Windows would have asked about deleting files?
My wife's laptop upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 several months ago. As soon as it finished she lost access to her old files. And we didn't remember the admin passwords. I created a new account for her. But she needs her old files......emails,recipes,etc. Then we were out of the country for a month.I am not very computer literate. I've probably spent 60-70 hours trying to learn because of this problem. I stumbled through Ophcrack with no luck. I used the Utilman reset last week. I reset the 2 local admin passwords to blank and created a new admin account. There was another administrator account that I couldn't reset. I don't know if it is a higher authority or what.
The new Local Account Administrator I created seems to have limitations. Some things I've tried,it responds I don't have permission. I changed my wife's acct from admin to user.I thought I would be able to reset her password. It doesn't give me that option.
After upgrading to windows 10, my yahoo mail password was not moved forward with the upgrade.

View 1 RepliesI upgraded from windows 7 to 10-when finished there was a red cross through the wifi icon.Having read numerous forums,I established that there was no old VPN software;I updated the Broadcom 802.11b/g/n software and in network adapter properties,I unticked power management switching off the adapter;also, altered bandwidth to 20_40MHz.As soon as I clicked on that, the wifi switched on!It then works until the computer is switched off;when on again, same problem. If I go to network adapter properties, and disable and then re-enable the adapter, wifi comes on again.
View 7 Replieslosing all their bookmarks and their password database when they restarted Firefox after the update from Windows 7 (or any other version) -> Windows 10??
Yes, did create system image but did not preserve C:users (-> U:) *. Even the old folder no longer had my bookmarks, and moving the old passwd and master key file did not allow Moz to figure it out.**
* I don't want users on my SSD drive -- I add/delete stuff WAYYY too often, so it sits on a spinny drive and is connected via a junction point.
** electronic god(desse)s for even a 7-month-old backup, so I didn't lose that much in terms of moz config.
I just upgraded to W10 from W8.1 and have lost my desktop short cuts and files. How do I recover them. During the upgrade process it said all files were transferred properly. I have looked at windows.old, but don't know what to look for or how to recover them from that file.
View 9 RepliesI was able to attach files using the combination of gmail and Windows 8. However, since I upgraded to Windows 10, I have been unable to attach the same files in gmail. The Attach files GUI opens, I select the file to attach, click OPEN, and the system goes back to the GUI without linking to the selected attachment. Double-clicking doesn't work, either. No attachment.
View 2 RepliesAfter upgrade i had access to my documents folder under the c drive but after i shutdown my computer and restarted it I cannot find my documents, or pictures folder.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to rollback to Win7 after Win10 update. I've got some hardware that I want to use that's not compatible.
I've tried going to recovery and 'Go back to Win7' but it's telling me I need to delete the users I've created. The problem is that I removed the original user from Win7 so it wants me to delete the two users I created with Win10. Is there another way to uninstall? I know I won't be able to delete all users and I don't know how I can recreate the original account.
I do have a backup of my windows 7 install before I upgraded. Is my license still going to work or will it be inactive due to the upgrade?
I currently have Windows 10, which I received as a free upgrade when I had Windows 8 several months ago. Now, I have to wipe my hard drive, so I'll obviously be reinstalling Windows 8 once I have done so. Will it again give me the option to upgrade to Windows 10, or will I be forced to stick with the dreaded Windows 8?
