When I want to send a mail to a known person It doesn't show me the email contact when I type name or even his email address. The search contact only works If I have sent someone a mail only from the Windows 10 mail app otherwise it doesn't show the contact which I might have save or synced when I have used it on web and also on windows 8.1 mail app. Why my contacts can't be displayed when I type on Windows 10 mail app.
View 6 RepliesI thought I'd install Windows 10 Threshold 2 (not to make the same mistake twice, on a laptop I hardly use this time) to see if the built-in Microsoft apps are now any better than they were in July. Disappointingly, with the exception of being able to turn off 'Conversation View', the Mail app is just as diabolically poor as it was back then. But on top of that, another thing I noticed this time is that when you type a name into the 'To:' field, it doesn't even look up that name / email address from your 'People' app contacts. The auto-complete feature only populates for people you've previously emailed.
So basically, if you haven't emailed someone, it won't show their name despite their details and email address being listed in the 'People' app.
Of course, another problem with not populating the auto-complete addresses from your address book is that if a contact changes their email address and you update their details in the 'People' app, the Mail app will still use the old email address in the autocomplete dropdown, causing you to keep emailing the wrong address.
Did Microsoft seriously release a Mail app that can't even look up names in your contacts list?
How to get the new win10 mail app to access my contacts or how to add an address book to the email client. I'm get mail through a pop3 optus server not gmail etc.
If I begin typing a name or email address in a new email the only addresses/ names that are there [autofill] are ones who I have received mail from, my contacts aren't there. [added csv file to contacts I exported from live mail before upgrading from win8.1] where are the contacts from received emails stored?, can I add my contacts there?
I notice that recieved email contacts aren't stored in my contacts app contacts folder. I would like to just use the win10 mail app than install something else.
So, instead of using my browser for my emails I set them up in Windows Mail, but although it will show all the folders it won't show anything in my inboxes. I've tried syncing but to no avail.

People Hub does not have my contacts from live.com account.
I can see my account in Email & Accounts, But there is no option to Sync contacts. Only email is present.
I have a pc updated from 7 to 10 and now wish to get rid of my old xp pc. I have copied my folders and contacts from Outlook Express. In W10 Mail I have set up the email system and can log on perfectly and see all the new stuff. I cannot find anyway to import my contacts or folders full of saved emails into W10 Mail. Is there a way to do this or has MS given up on stuff from Outlook Express?
View 3 RepliesI want to continue to use Outlook as my main email client (but the built-in app in Windows 10 is little more than a pretty toy, even my phone's email app is more powerful and configurable). I have Outlook 2010 installed on my PC and Outlook 2013 installed on my laptop (I prefer 2010 though), and I access about half a dozen POP3 accounts using both machines, using rules to transfer mails to multiple folders, etc.
The one (and thus far only) plus point I've found about the native Win10 mail/calendar app is that it syncs nicely with my contacts and calendar on my Android devices (via my Google gmail account, which I basically only use for syncing not for actually emailing, as I really don't need any more active email accounts!).
My question is how do I get Outlook 2010 or 2013 to use the new Windows 10 calendar? And ideally sync the contacts too. That way my PCs and my Android devices will all finally be in sync without having to fiddle around manually.
Windows 10, be very aware that often your home wifi password gets shared among your contacts in outlook and skype by default during install. Google for more info, it is encrypted but its stored at microsoft for when they visit you so they can use your wifi.

Also, I want to export contacts to a database of some sort (CSV?) like I can do with Gmail so that I can organize and then import back to Mail App. If I can't find or export contacts then I'll need to stay with one of the vintage apps.
I have installed Windows 10 and got all my accounts working in Mail but cannot find my contacts, any button for contacts or any way to import them from Windows Live Mail in Windows 7.
View 1 RepliesI have 71 names in my contacts list that I can't delete.When I upgraded to Windows 10, I started using Windows Live Mail. I imported some contacts from a .csv file. Others were imported from another file. I deleted that file after the import. When I open my contacts the names imported from the csv file shows "address book" under the names. The names that were imported from the other file, don't say anything.
Later I tried to deleted all contacts. When I try to delete the "other file" contacts, the DELETE button is grayed out. I can send mail using these contacts. But I want most of them off my list. I deleted all the accounts I had on WLM and uninstalled/reinstalled WLM. The contacts are still there. I am not using any social medias that could be tied to it. I have used Skype. But the names in my contacts are not from there.
I use Windows Live Mail, and every time I create a category in my contacts, add 25 names, I come back to find that it has been deleted. Is there a limit to the amount of contacts it holds? How to permanently save a category?
View 1 RepliesUpgraded both our Desktop & Laptop to Windows 10 in the past few months. Last week I tried to access some Outlook emails that were more than two years old, the attachments & emoticons do not appear. This is on both PC's & the same result using Edge, IE or Chrome.
I installed Windows Live Mail & now I can see all the attachments & emoticons. Forwarded some of the emails from Live Mail to myself & now in Outlook the attachments/emoticons all appear as well (all three browser Edge, IE & Chrome). So say for instance I have a 2 & 1/2 year old email in a Outlook folder that will not display attachments/emoticons but the very same email just forwarded from Live Mail to my Outlook inbox now displays all attachments & emoticons
Tried inspecting elements. See msgs regarding HTML, Java Script in Edge? Don't have either Java or Silverlight installed, guess the newer browsers are moving towards HTML.
When I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10, one of the first things I did was to set up all of my email accounts in the Outlook Mail app. For a while, the app worked perfectly. But as of recently, the app keeps crashing after 2 clicks. I was wondering, is there a way to maybe reset the app itself? I tried to uninstall it but there is no option to do this in the settings menu or even in the store!

With Windows 8, my laptop would display a lock screen everytime I turn the computer on, whether it was from sleep or from being shut down. However, immediately after upgrading, my laptop began to skip the lock screen step. Is there a way to turn it back on?

View 6 RepliesTrying to set up my outlook in the Win 10 mail app...have all settings enter3ed correctly...including Outlook password for my cox email account...but every time I try to sync...sync window 10 just spins..Bigger issue is if I check the password for my outlook (Cox) account...the number of characters has doubled in Win 10 Mail settings ??My Outlook account for this mail box has 9 characters...works fine in Outlook 2003...
But when I check the password in the mail app...more than 12 characters-*'s show up in Win 10 app for password.Have deleted and added outlook mail pop a number of times...but after 'save'...I always get a much longer 'password'(*****etc) in settings than was entered in setup ?
I did the windows 10 upgrade yesterday and since then my Outlook 2010 cannot send mail. It receives mail as it should without any issues. I have multiple emails accounts with different vendors and it is doing the same on all of them so I have ruled out it being a hosting issue.I have also disabled all my internet security and firewall but that did not work at all?
