View 12 RepliesI just upgraded to Windows 10 and I would like to do a clean install. However My PC has a 1tb HDD as the C: drive and a secondary 25gb SSD drive called D:. I was wondering if there is a way to install the OS on the D: drive. I have done OS installs before so I am somewhat familiar with the procedure. I also already have a Windows 10 install USB set up. I just can't get it to offer the option of which drive to install on. The D: drive does currently have a folder on it labeled Drivers and in that folder there 14 folders such as Bluetooth, WLAN , and Card reader. Is this going to be an issue when installing Windows 10 on the D: drive or will Windows re-download these drivers itself?
View 1 RepliesSo, I currently have Windows 7 installed in a standard HDD and I bought an SSD a while ago with intentions of reinstalling windows on it. With the Windows 10 update coming in tomorrow, I was wondering if I could install the Windows 10 update on the SSD. Even if it's just installing it on the current HDD I have and then doing a clean install on an SSD. Point is, I want to know if there is any way I can have Windows 10 running on my SSD after tomorrow.
View 1 RepliesI have 2 hard drives in my pc. The first one is 80GB and the second one is 1TB. I have windows 7 on the 80GB drive. I want to upgrade to Windows 10 but at the same time I want it to be on the 1TB hard drive instead. Therefore I'd like for there to be no Windows software on the 80GB drive and Windows 10 on the 1TB drive.

View 6 RepliesMy DVD drive worked fine in Win7, and still works fine if I boot from it, but since upgrading to Win10 I can't access any disk in it. File Explorer "sees" my G drive, but when I want to look at a disk it tells me to insert a disk. Device manager told me that my drive was a virtual clone drive, so I removed it and deleted the driver, and now I don't see any optical drives. I can't find the model number of the LG drive, so I can't download a suitable driver.

View 1 RepliesWhen upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10, am I able to choose what drive I would like Windows 10 installed to if I have multiple drives? I want to put an ssd in for the operating system when I upgrade and would I be able to just tell Windows 10 to install to the ssd?
View 1 RepliesI have a laptop and a desktop with a 120 gig ssd and a 64 gig SSD respectively. Both computers have conventional hard drives as drive D. I have two 250 gig SSD's on the way. What is the best strategy for moving to the new SSD's and preforming the clean install of Windows 10. The desktop is running Windows 10 insider preview 130 and the laptop is on Windows 8.1.

View 5 RepliesI have downloaded windows 10. I am having an aweful problem with my pointer - it self selects anything and everything. If left on a page it increases or decreases the viewing percentage. I looked in settings but couldn't see anything there to stop this.
View 2 RepliesA long while ago I downloaded SymMover and managed to really mess up my files. I managed to take Favorites, Desktop, and Downloads out of what I'm pretty sure is called the Navigation Pane. I have 2 different Download folders in the Pane, neither of which are the actual one, and I do not know where my Desktop folder is. I can get to it if I follow a link in my User file, but that's it.

Do I need to restore my computer to factory settings?
I am new to Windows 10. I am trying to place a shortcut on the desktop to put the computer to sleep. I tried following the instructions from a few sites that recommended placing a link into the desktop shortcut menu and the suggested shortcut Command does not put the computer to sleep. instead it shuts the computer down. What is the Sleep command. The wrong command is as follows: Rundll32.exe Powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Sleep.I tried one or 2 other variations of this command and the new shortcut also turned over the computer

View 1 RepliesI always like to have my Windows positioned in a certain way on my desktop, and even though some programs remain, a lot don't (i.e. 'This PC' & 'Documents' folder) never stay in the same place. I don't use Windows search normally, but today had reason to look for Indexing Options in the CP. No sign. Yes, things are being indexed. Yes, the service is running.
So could I invoke Indexing Options some other way?
control.exe srchadmin.dll
- nothing.
Now when I looked for srchadmin.dll, I only found this in Windows.old. Really?
control.exe <path to windows.old...>srchadmin.dll opened indexing options.
is this dll missing a consequence of having done an in place upgrade install?
Clean install build 10130. I can't find anywhere to choose the icons I want on the desktop. Used to be able to do this from Personalization but not any more. Can't find anywhere in Control Panel either.
