Migrating From HDD To SSD?
Jun 21, 2015
I have an old computer with Windows 7SP1 and it IS an original license no cracked or something. I can upgrade it to Windows 10 as it told me a week or two ago. But as my current HDD became way too slow (when it boots I get 10mb/s read/write speed then a couple minutes later I get 20-25mb/s write/read speed and its read speed improves a bit more in time), I want to upgrade to an SSD but I am concerned about a couple things.
My plan is migrating my HDD to SSD (I looked up some tutorials on the web) and upgrading to W10 on SSD. As Microsoft said that we can do a clean install after we upgrade to W10, I'll take the SSD out of my laptop and plug it into my future-desktop computer and do a clean install there.
So My Windows will be transported to a new computer with SSD and my old computer will become Windows-less. At least thats what I'm thinking. Is that true?
If everything goes well up to plugging the SSD to new computer, will my old drivers be a problem before I do the clean install of W10? If yes, what do I need to do to prevent them from being a problem?
Also, are there other risks that I need to know before doing this?

How I should migrate my OS to an SSD. I recently upgraded to windows 10 from 7, and now want to add an SSD to my computer. So, I was wondering if that would create any licensing issues, since the key for windows 10 is tied to the computer's "fingerprint". I am planning to buy the sandisk 120gb SSD, and will use their migration software.

I have a laptop, so I don't have the serial key or anything for the Windows copy that's on it. I want to upgrade it to an SSD, though. How do I do that? I don't really care about losing data, anything that matters is in the cloud anyway.

Okay. I have been doing a lot of cloning and migrating an OS before but I haven't done cloning or migrating an OS from dual drives in RAID 0 mode.
It's not my PC. Is it a different approach or is it just like working on a single drive? Can Macrium handle this?
Btw, I know clean install is the best way to go, but I was told by the PC owner that she can't afford to install all her programs back due to time issues, etc.

I want to migrate my OS from HDD to SSD. Can this be done by restoring the computer and then choosing another drive as destination for the fresh install or will it simply be installed on the same drive as it is restoring from?

I chose the "fast" ring update on the windows insider app in order to get the preview for windows 10 on my lumia 1520. It updated fine but since the migrating data process began, it has been stuck in a continuous reboot loop. The screen shows the nokia logo and the windows logo briefly, then shows the at&t logo (since I bought the phone in the US) with "not for resale" written in the bottom left corner. How can I fix this? I don't mind losing all my data.
