After updating to Windows 10 on my SP1, I noticed that wireless displays now have a max resolution of 1280x720 60Hz. In 8.1, I used to have access to 1920x1080 30hz. Didn't experience this on a different laptop, though.
Using a Netgear PTV3000 with the latest firmware (so far).
I have a surface pro 3 and I am trying to do an in place upgrade to 10. Both OSes are Enterprise versions. The install goes fine and eventually gets to a point where it will revert back to windows 8.1 with the following error: 0xC1900101-0x40017.
Small background on the machine: It is running windows 8.1 ENT, SCEP for virus scanner, is on a domain, has been originally imaged using SCCM
Here is what I have tried to get this error gone and get 10 installed:
Clean boot
Disabled all startup items from task manager and all services not marked as Microsoft
DISM /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth (succeeded)
DISM /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth (succeeded)
DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (Failed)
Ran via command prompt and all succeeded
net stop wuauserv
[Code] ....
found corrupt files but couldn't fix them.
Running offline scan not but I don't know that it will change the result of the online scan (done this before on other machines)
Tried running from local machine via extracted ISO (Failed)
Tried running from USB3 Thumb drive via extracted ISO (Failed)
I upgraded to Windows 10 on my home PC and now every time I connect to this PC from another PC I can use it for a bit and then all of a sudden it disconnects and when I try to log back in it then doesn't connect anymore.
Then when I actually go to this PC again I see that my LAN Ethernet connection is set to "Limited" and I have to restart my PC to get everything back to normal.
Is my Broadcom Ethernet card not compatible with Windows 10?
I recently upgraded my Dell 2320 Inspiron all in one to Windows 10 and since doing so I am greeted with the limited internet connection problem (wifi). I have tried the TCIP reset suggested in another forum I read however this has not resolved the issue. What I can do as this is my home office computer.

I tried to upgrade from W8.1 to W10 with the upgrade tool in Win8 on a MS Surface Pro 2.
The computer hangs on 56% so I reboot. It tells me "the installation is failed, so go back to win 8". I accepted.
From there it showing infinitly "Restoring previous windows version".(It shown in dutch, so maybe it a bit different in English.
It is in this state for a month now and I tried everything listed below.
I tried creating a Win 10 disk, and do a fresh install from there. Result: Cant get the drive to boot
Tried creating a Win 8 disk. It boots, but it won't let me format my C-drive. It seems to be locked because it failed the recovery to the old Win8 install. I can remove all the partitions, but it gives an error when I try to install on a newly created partition. After a reboot, all partitions are back.
I tried booting to command prompt with windows 8 usb disk and remove the partitions with diskpart. It failes the format command. "attri disk" does not show read only
I tried an ubuntu live disk. It does not show my NTFS partitions
So the problem is: I can not access my data, but I accepted it is lost (and I copied some things via command prompt)I cannot get into windows. It wont let me install windowsI cannot format my harddrive. I can not remove the harddrive because I cant open the tablet without breaking it.
One of the things I thought is to make a USB with win10 running on it, but most of my flash drives are to slow and booting from a Sandisk extreme 32gb seems impossible.
All of a sudden I get "your device does not support Miracast" and wifi is gone !
I don't want Miracast.

So I just got a new LG smart TV that has a screen share mode. I wanted to use it but apparently my PC doesn't support miracast.
How do I get miracast support? I'm sure all my drivers are up to date, but i'll check again. Here's my dxdiag, I couldn't get much info from it. I'm not sure why it's not supported, and I don't have much knowledge on the issue.
I can get the TV to show up in Devices under settings, but I can't project to it. Does my second monitor have anything to do with it?
I have the Administrator account on my computer. I am the only User, no other accounts have been made. So why is it from time to time I find I am blocked from doing something as I do not have permission? Who else but me fas permission? Examples include permission refused for accessing a particular file (not one requiring a password, which would be understandable) and particularly being refused to permission to save somewhere (nowhere 'special') so I have to save to a folder other than the one I had chosen, or selected by an app.
Also, as I am also always the Administrator, why do I have to opt in to what I am in the first place as with Cmd prompt? I used to get apps not launching because I was Administrator, and the only way out I discovered was to reset.
My SP3 was originally on Win 8.1. I used Microsoft's media creation tool to create a USB installer for Win 10, then upgraded to Win 10 from usb. After upgrading, I verified that Win 10 was activated. I then booted from the USB installer and did a clean install.
The strange thing is, every few days, "Activate Windows" would appear on the bottom right of my screen. When I try to activate windows, I get this:
However, sometimes upon restarting the SP3 it would be activated again.
So basically after a certain amount of time, when I reboot my Surface Pro 3 or sometimes even leave it running for that long, I wind up getting hit by an error that says that I need to verify my identity. I then have to go over to the Accounts option in Settings and then click the word "Verify" to type my PIN in, otherwise all installed Windows Store apps crash, Cortana becomes disabled and reverts back to the standard search function. I've already tried making a new User Account, reinstalling Windows 10, using an account troubleshooter, restarting and signing in with my original password (not the PIN), clearing the extra devices that are called "PC" under my account that my Surface Pro 3 seems to create every time this issue appears at URL... and Sign in to your Microsoft account, changing my Microsoft account password, and of course, verifying my identity by typing in my PIN. Nothing works. Aside from taking a hammer to the device?
View 9 RepliesSurface Pro, running Widows 10 perfectly, except when I want the on screen keyboard, selecting in the lower right task bar. It brings up another window, which allows me to select a keyboard, or scribe, then I want to select a keyboard.
BUT, every time I relaunch the keyboard, it goes thru the same process.
Why can't I have my keyboard come up without asking if I want to scribe or talk, just bring up the correct style keyboard.
It is in English which is the preferred language.
I have been considering getting the Surface 3 to use in class as an electronic notepad of sorts, as well as for general consumption use. I also have an ultrabook running W10, and when I'm at home I like to work using an external monitor. Obviously I can't lug a monitor to the library, but I was hoping maybe the Surface 3 would be able to serve that purpose when I work there. I know that there are Android and iOS apps that turn a tablet into a monitor, but are there any that do the same for Windows? The app can be a Store app or for the desktop, no matter.

I set a pin on my surface during technical preview. It worked until windows 10 went live and I updated my desktop. PIN works on my desktop, but it requires my password on the surface?
I tried to reset the security policies, but the option does not exist on the surface. I do however see red text saying "some policies on this PC are preventing some options from being shown." What policies is this referring to?

View 19 RepliesI am using a D-Link DWA-160 Xtreme Dual Band USB Adapter into a NetGear Router. I have three Win 10 machines connected two of which are just fine. The third is displaying "Limited Access". After doing all the normal substitution things without effect I did a System Restore. I was immediately able to connect for about five minutes and then got "Limited Access" again. I undid the the System Restore and got the same result. Connected as soon as the roll back was completed but then went back to Limited Access.
View 4 RepliesI've installed windows 10, but I've got a strange problem. My WiFi connection randomly gets limited for one second. It isn't so bad, when I'm browsing, but if I wanna download something... that's terrible :S 'cause when the wifi stops, the download stops too... What can I do? I think it's not my laptops problem, because before win10 - on windows 8.1 - it worked fine. If it matters something, it gets limited in about every 5 or 10 minutes.

I troubleshooted and it says it does not have valid IP configuration and in the wireless connection it says unidentified network. It says public network shouldn't it be on private? Need straightening this out. Like I said it worked fine one day and now its says no interternt and limited. Sigh.
View 15 RepliesSince updating to Windows 10 I have lost many of the normal graphics found on pages and on my browsers. The color is blue and some boxes that require a check are not visible unless you happen to run your mouse over them. Internet Explorer and Firefox have also lost most of the graphics; now all the artwork on the pages look like just bare bone versions of the pages when I saw them on Windows 7! This is affecting both my PC and my laptop!
View 1 RepliesSo I installed Windows 10 3 days ago via the USB provided by Microsoft through purchase on their online store. Since the install I have found that my WiFi connection, on startup, will work for maybe 2 minutes before dropping down to "Limited" and occasionally disconnecting entirely.
My PC is custom built and has worked perfectly fine for the almost 2 years I've had it. I've tried everything from resetting the router, having my ISP replace the router, uninstalling my Wireless Adapter from the Device Manager tool, installing the latest driver updates (Windows 8 for Rosewill RNX-N250PCe) and even running the ipconfig release/renew (which didn't release for some reason.)
I'm using my lumia 625 (which has windows phone 10 build 10536) to connect my laptop (windows 10 too) to the internet using bluetooth (less battery consuming & has smaller rang = more security) , the problem that i'm facing is that I can't set my connection as limited like wifi connections. I have always automatic updates and I only have a very limited bandwidth. And is there any tool usb tether my phone to my laptop?

practice to create golden image for Surface Pro 4 tablet running Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10586] ?
I have done the following steps but it failed (BSoD) this morning.
1. Straight out of the box it is Windows 10 Pro (10.10240)
2. Insert the SW_DVD5_WIN_ENT_10_1511_64BIT_English_MLF_X20-82288.ISO to bring it on to Windows 10 Enterprise (10.10586)
3. After the manual upgrade, I did the manual Windows Update check to apply the latest firmware & the rest of Windows Update. (Installed SurfacePro4_Win10_160128_0.msi firmware & win64_154014.4352.exe Intel graphics driver)
4. It was running perfectly fine yesterday evening on Version 1511 OS Build 10586.71 and then I manually update it again to 10.586.104
5. I ran Cleanmgr (Windows Disk Clean-up) followed by the freeware CCleaner64.exe to clean unwanted OS old updates to free up disk space.
6. I ran Sysprep to make the base line before capturing it as the base image for the rest of the tablet.
This morning when I'm about to hand it over to my CIO, it Blue Screen and crashed requiring me to reinstall Windows ?
Does Windows 10 cannot be sysprep-ed after fully updated to the latest ?
