Opening an excel file within an email gives me 'corrupt' file. If I save the file I will be able to open it up *sometimes*. I have tricked the OS into opening the file by printing from the email attachment and then clicking 'save'. Sometimes that will actually open the excel file but not always.
I even installed excel previewer for mobile and confirmed that excel (desktop) was the app to open excel files but that did not work.
This is happening with Word as well.
I installed Office 2016 and a random file appeared directly on the C drive in no folder. The file is called, "WindowsMSUIGHUB.tt2". know what this file is and if it's just some temporary file I'm safe to remove? I don't really want this file here as it looks ugly but I don't want to remove if it it's required for anything.
View 1 RepliesI have several, rather large, Excel files. When I open one I get a window that says ..."Security Alert - Office File Validation"... .
I did a Google search on it and get a lot of TechNo Babble that I don't understand.
How can I get rid of this pop up without major surgery ? It has only been appearing since I upgraded to Windows 10.
I have tried various methods to uninstall this app - all failed with the error above. I want to uninstall it because the update in the windows store keeps failing and I don't need it.
So far I have tried pretty much everything I have found via google, including the regedit process of clearing the store cache, but even that did not work.
At a loss now, how to remove this app completely?
I installed Win10 when the upgrade became available...all seemed well until recently. I am using Office 2007 and when i try to save documents, ie; excel or word, i am told i am unable to save to the document folders or previous .xls folders that i had created. The system will let me save the file to the desktop...then i have to drag and drop into the designated folders...with a prompt telling me that i need admin privileges. What gives with this?

View 1 RepliesI started my PC this morning and was greeted with a BootMGR missing error, i followed a few things online including going into the CMD and entering the following codes;
bootrec /RebuildBcd
bootrec /FixMbr
bootrec /FixBoot
They didn't work so i've decided it would be easier to just reset my OS, however if i try to reset i'm told i haven't enough space in my C drive. So how can i make space without being able to go into my PC properly?
Both FreeCommanderXE and MultiCommander fail to show the c:Program Files (X86) directory. Furthermore, FreeCommanderXE fails to show Users<username>Appdata and it's subdirectories.
The following screenshot shows this in 3 overlapping windows; Windows Explorer is the top windows that shows all the "missing" directories are really there. And, BTW, my system runs fine. But why do those file managers not show stuff that is really there?
Yes, I did set both programs to show both Hidden and Systems files.
I have a 3 month old toshiba laptop it crashed last night and now won't boot up a factory reset has taken 7 hrs and came up with file missing il attach pic now it just stuck on toshiba screen spinning no I won't upload says pic is too big

It's extremely difficult to assign default programs (either no option for "default" or it just doesn't take my choice) for different media, but once assigned, Win10 later forgets the default program and opens it with another.I have assigned all audio file types (mp3, wav, m3u etc.) to open with Winamp. I've done this by manually assigning a default program for every single file type in "Control Panel - Default Programs - Associate a file type...", because every other option failed.
Later, after a reboot, it still shows "Winamp" in the list of file types. But Win10 now opens m3u-files with VLC player! I'm going hardcore, with registry keys etc - only need the info. some file types are not listed under "Control Panel - Default Programs - Associate a file type...". How can i assign these missing file types to a program?
I've had two system crashes over the past day or so with an error saying that a required component was missing. The first time gave the error code 0xc000000f and I had to rebuild the BCD and then do a refresh of the windows installation. I didn't catch the error code the second time but I believe it ended with an e. the second crash, like the first one, required boot media before it would restart, but did not require a system refresh. What could be causing these errors? I'll give my system info below.
CPU: i5 4690k
RAM: Team Vulcan 16GB
MOBO: ASRock Z97E-ITX/ac
GRAPHICS: ASUS R9 390
STORAGE: 240GB SanDisk SSD & 1TB Western Digital hard drive
Have just upgraded to windows 10 and when I try to export a csv file using excel, the file is missing columns and not formatting properly. Have tested same csv file on different laptop (not upgraded to 10) and it's working fine. What I need to do to correct this problem.
View 1 RepliesAfter updating my windows 10 rig, I cannot connect to the internet. When I run the troubleshooter, this error message shows up, "one or more network protocols are missing". I have tried several fixes including uninstalling and reinstalling the network drivers, going in and installing any missing network protocols, and a few other things. Nothing has worked or made any visible progress. I also used system restore, and restored to before the update, but it didn't do anything either.
View 1 RepliesI've just bought my first SSD and want to install windows 10 onto it. I used the media creation tool to install the OS onto a bootable USB but when I try to install the software onto my SSD I get an error. It reads:
"A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB or Hard disk driver. If you have a CD, DVD or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now."
I have tried hooking up my optical drive and inserting the disks that came with the motherboard and graphics card but it says it can't find any drivers. I'll attach an image below of the problem I'm facing.
In start menu file explorer is missing &

View 9 RepliesI have w10, running a static ip address through time warner cable in Ohio. Time warner said they had a problem on their end, ever since then I can't connect to our security cameras. I run a powerline from the house to the office., have reset my computer, modem and wireless router. Still getting the same error - one or more network protocols are missing from this computer. I tried talking with time warner cable - no go!
View 9 RepliesSince installing Windows 10, I have tried to open two programmes that I had previously used successfully and received error messages about the audio engine.
The first was Audacity (Wave recorder and editor) and I got two messages on trying to open it - "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate." The other message was "Could not find any audio device. You will not be able to play or record audio. Error: Internal Port/Audio error."
The second program I tried to open gave me the following message "No audio devices. Audio Engine Error: Bas settings."
The curious thing is that I can play things through iTunes for instance quite satisfactorily (admittedly through and external amplifier, but that must mean that there's an audio output).
Is it possible that Windows 10 has removed the audio devices or altered the audio engine settings (whatever that means!)? If so, how do I regain the status quo as far as audio is concerned?
I upgraded my Toshiba laptop automatically from 8.1 to 10 when the software came out (months ago) - have had no issues with it. Then I was using my laptop it flashed blue and turned off. It now comes up with with recovery - your pc/device needs to be repaired (see image) - I'm able to access the recovery settings - have tried refresh, system restore, automatic repair, nothing works and seems to get worse. I have a lot of personal files/photos that haven't been backed up for about a month and want to save them! I've downloaded the Windows 10 iso to a usb - but have only get semi regular access to a Mac so unsure if it's bootable.
