View 2 Replieswhen I try to print any documdent with a print command, I only get anoption to save the document as a tiff file. Saving the document and then trying to print it gives the same "save as" option again. Printer is HP photosmart 6100 series.
View 1 RepliesI have a unique suggestion for future windows 10 builds. Why not giving an option to add background image to file explorer? This idea came to me when I was changing my Google chrome's theme.
I am attaching my chrome's theme image with this discussion so that maximum people understands what I am saying.
If this kind of background can be applied to file explorer, it will look great!

View 9 RepliesThe company I work for recently upgraded our computers to Windows 10.
My boss receives a Word document from our supplier every month. Before we had new computers, he used to print this off each time with no problems. However, when he clicks print now, nothing happens. The printer dialogue box appears for a second but nothing prints out and it is not left in the print queue.
He has forwarded the email with the Word document to myself and other colleagues and we all have been able to print it with no problems. So I thought it must be something wrong with his printer. However, he is able to print anything else. We have printed other Word documents, Excel docs, PDFs etc.
I copied the content of the document that he can't print onto a blank new Word document to try and print it. However, the same happens...It seems there is something in the actual document that is stopping the printer from printing it?
I installed Win10 yesterday on my desktop, but sleep is not an option on power menu. Have tried all options that I find in various forums including driver updates and system settings, but can not get a sleep mode for the power menu. Maybe Win 10 thinks my desktop is a laptop as I only have hibernate for an option.
I have tried using hibernate, but my PC "wakes" anyway and uses too much power with fans. Only power saving solution now is to shut down completely each time I walk away. I have not found the solution in forums for adding back sleep to the menu.
When I opened up System and Security>System>Remote settings the remote tab only display the 'allow remote assistance' box and I do not see 'allow remote desktop' box.
I think someone is trying to get onto my PC and I cannot stop it.
I've got a little (really little) problem with my surface pro 3.
I don't have the option 'screen rotation" in my action center any more... It's not a big deal because I can still use that function by using the shortcut windows + 0 but it's missing and sometimes annoying to go plug the keyboard just to use that function...
I guess I should be able to turn it back on by changing something in the regedit...
My computer has suddenly stopped printing PDF downloads from emails. Will only save to documents and still will not print. What is the problem here? Have an HP all in one wireless printer.
View 6 RepliesApparently, I have yet another problem with Windows 10. I noticed today on my laptop that that when I right click on an application from the start menu there are options such as Pin to Start, Pin to Taskbar, Uninstall, Run as Administrator and Open File Location. However, when I right click on an application on my desktop PC, the only option I have available is Pin to Start.
View 1 RepliesUnder the Network tab of File Explorer, I can see three entries, one of which is my router (with attached Hard Drive) and two computers, each running Windows 10. When I expand the router entry, I can see my hard drive files. I can also see my Users icons when I expand one of the computer's tabs. However, when I click on the other computer's name to search for users, all I see is a message that "This folder is empty". In fact, the folder is not empty, as there are two users on the computer. How I can get this computer to show users, etc.?
View 6 RepliesWhen I use the Microsoft print to pdf printer in Win 10, it gives the file a name and saves it to My Documents. How do I change the save to location to my desktop? Can I name the file myself rather than accept the name win 10 thinks it should be?
View 9 RepliesWe all know that IE, Firefox, etc have the option to copy the download link of an ongoing download job. But it seems Microsoft had something really great in mind and has apparently removed that feature from Microsoft Edge I wonder wheres the 'Edge'??
how to bring back the useful 'copy download link' option of an ongoing download link in Edge?
Using Win10 Pro x64. I would like to disable windows showing .zip files in explorer as a folder...When you highlight it the contents inside the .zip are shown in the right pane view. I've scoured the net and found ways for Win7(which I did disable .zip folders on my other Win7 machine) and Vista, perhaps 8 too but I don't want to risk trying a method for older versions of windows. Any solution/reg hack or whatever to disable .zip folder?
View 5 RepliesI just installed Windows 10. Not sure if I like it, but I'm trying hard.
Problem: When I go to File Explorer, in the left panel, when I click on a folder name, the contents of that folder (both sub-folders and files) show in the right panel.
In the left panel, when I click on ">" beside a folder name, it will expand in the left panel showing the sub-folders, but not "loose files".
I could have sworn that in earlier versions of Windows the files also showed.
Is there a option setting somewhere to change this behavior and to show the files also in the left panel?
There is the option on many things in windows explorer, if you right click, "Pin to start" .. for instance.. say you have a folder you want to pin a shortcut to.. you right click that.. pin to start.. it should then appear in the start menu.. well on my system it doesn't..
I have to manually make a shortcut, then copy that to the program data or local users windows start menu folder for it to then be pinnable to start via the start menu..
Having problem with Windows photo viewer in build 10162? When I right click on a .jpg file and select the open with Windows photo viewer, the print pictures opens instead.
View 1 RepliesWhen I edit a .mkv file (rename, delete or copy/move) on one of my partitions, file explorer freezes and I need to restart it with taskmanager.
I haven't encountered any other files that cause the same freeze as this one (yet..).
I already searched on google and tried editing from a webbrowser and the drive is defragmented automatically, so I don't know what to do.
I saw that file name extensions has been turned on by it self somehow. (For those who don't know file name extensions is when it says ".exe", ".txt" after the name of a file.) I was gonna turn it of but when I did it just blinked on the desktop like I pressed F5 and it keept being on. I guess it might just be bug that will get fixed with an update.
View 1 RepliesUsually, when you right-clock the "file explorer" all the last used folders are showing on-top of it (right circle on image/attachment), I thought ihe bug would just go away but after 1 week it's annoying as ever
View 3 RepliesThe print spooler chokes on both of my Windows 10 machines when trying to deal with certain pdf files. For instance when I tried to print [URL] ... via my browser (Chrome), it printed the first 6 pages, but the printer showed an error when it came to the seventh page. When I then tried to create another job just to print the seventh page, it just hung around in the print spool and nothing happened at the printer.
I tried this several times on two machines. It was also impossible either to cancel the job in the print queue manager or to stop the spooler in the services manager in order to manually clear the print queue, which meant that the only way I could clear the queue was to restart the machine. I got the same behaviour whether I was printing to my physical printer or to the MS pdf printer. I also got the same behaviour when I tried to print from a different browser (Edge). This is not the first time I have had a problem with an unprintable file like this in Windows 10.
I have 5 computers and 4 are running Windows 10. The machine I use as the main one I upgraded from Windows 7 ULT to Win 10 and have had little trouble but, my number 2 machine I added the insider preview 5 builds ago and since then, when trying to view all machines in explorer only the Computers come up yet, on the main machine no problem, all machines that are on the network show up. The pic on the left is the No 2 machine and the one on the right is the No 1 machine. I use assigned IP addresses on all the hardware that show up in No 1.
View 4 RepliesMissing network device - EXTERNALDRIVE Since the last Windows 10 update which I installed on Dec. 9 I am missing one devices in Explorer > Network on one of three network computers.
They are all present on the other two computers. One of these is Windows 10., the other is Vista Premium.
The complete device list under network is Frankspc, Charlottespc, and Sue_ASUS and ExternalDrive.
The missing device on the Explorer list on Frankspc is EXTERNALDRIVE. I can ping it at 192.168.1.3 . how to get it back in the Explorer list?
It's been a few days now since icons aren't showing everywhere including Desktop (really bugs me, this one), Taskbar (Not actually disappeared, but deformed), and File Explorer. I did things like calling Task Manager up and end the process of explorer.exe and run it again, no luck. I restarted Windows, yielded no results. I also tried turning the machine off and on again, to no avail.
Here are some screenshots regarding the problem I am facing.
While Desktop and Explorer are not working as well as they should, Start Menu and Tablet Mode appear to be quite fine by themselves.
My machine is running Windows 10 Home Edition, not Insider Preview. I don't know how to find the version/build numbers, but I'm positive it's the latest build available since I just checked Windows Update.
