View 4 RepliesEvery so often, more often when I'm watching a video on the internet, the mouse and screen freeze.
I'm using a Dell Inspiron 15-7559 with Windows 10
When turning on Windows 10 my pointer will not show up for the password phase of startup. If I do get to the desktop, the pointer is either gone or it is frozen. I shut the computer down and after several startups, it will come back on maybe for a few minutes. I have checked the device manager for the mouse. Looked for updated versions. Ran a troubleshooting for it. Nothing says it is wrong. This has only happened with the upgrade to Windows 10. It used to be every so often, now it is daily.
View 1 RepliesI'm suffering from PC freezes. It freezes when I'm in windows but not in post. When it freezes my mouse wont move and keys won't register.. so it's just really stuck. I've tried waiting for about an hour but it didn't woke up. It happens really random. While loading a game, watching pictures or idle.. the time interval is very random aswell, couple times a day or once every couple of days. All possible with this freeze.. My current solution is holding down the power button so it shuts down, and then rebooting it. I'm not OC-ed and the pc is about 4~5 years old.
Now I'm wondering if there is a list of things that one would do? I don't really mind doing a lot of extra checking, since I normally don't check my system. A full check would be nice actually. I have tried running mdsched.exe and it showed 0 problems. I'm currently checking my hdd from within windows. (Rmb the partition and select run check) I did not upgrade anything on my pc other then my gpu a couple of years back. But it used to run fine even after the upgrade. The os i'm running, comming from vista pro to 8.0 pro to 8.1 pro to 10 pro could be cause aswell I guess, even tough I did preform a nearly clean install for the win 10.
The reason I want a list of testing programs, tips and tricks is that I can't find a solid list. There must be a certain guideline for finding 90% of the common computer problems? Check hardware first then software?
I use left handed mouse, and swapping left / buttons works OK. I also set the wheel button to be "double click". But the wheel button brings up the context menu instead of double click. If I change to right hand mouse, the wheel button gives double click as expected. how to make the wheel button give double click for left hand mouse?

View 2 RepliesSo this started like last week where i get these small lags when my pc freezes for like 1-3 seconds. It can happen when i play games or just browsing. It happens probably like 2 times every hour. This is a problem for me because when i play csgo and im shooting towards someone and everything just lags and i die. It's a small problem but it is really frustrating. And just today while i was playing Arma 3 my pc completely froze and i had to restart it by holding down the button on the case.

This is a problem that has been plaguing me across years and several computers.Every hour or so, and it doesn't seem to matter what application I have open, Windows will become unresponsive for a few seconds. Then it will go away.
On this system I have 8 gb ram and I am running light applications. I have a new i-5 skylake processor and a good asus mobo. And a reputable SSD, too. I just installed windows 10 pro x64 a week ago. I have this problem even without third-party AV, as I found out after I uninstalled my AV.
I am experiencing random freezing of a Windows Explorer (file manager) window. What this means, is that I cannot click on a file, I cannot minimize, close the window etc.
However, I can open another instance (or more) of Windows explorer, that I can open files, copy & paste, drag & drop, close the window, etc
The only way I can get rid of the frozen window is going to task manager & telling Explorer.exe to restart
I had to do a pc reset on a different pc. Everything went ok and pc reset froze at 10 % for ages.So i turned off pc and restarted it hoping this should be ok. Pc restarted ok but a box appears stating windows installation encountered an unexpected error click ok and restart pc to continue installation.
I follow the step but all i see is at bottom of screen with Delete and F2 BIOS setup and same message appears.ie my pc gets into a loop. How do i get my pc working again..or is pc useless now ?
My Windows 10 Machine has gone into a freezing state tre times today. And I have to do a Hard shutdown to get it back up.
I taught to my self 2 times is a coincidence and 3 is a pattern!. The thing is, I haven't installed or updated anything on it for the past few days.
Ive attached all the log files ....
I'm having an odd issue with my new Windows 10 install. The first time I boot up my PC it freezes at the login screen, when you would normally click to bring up the user/password screen. The network icon in the bottom right shows a red x. If I shut down the PC by holding down the power button, and then start it again it works fine. Setting the PC to sleep and starting from there also works fine.
View 6 RepliesI was using Windows 8.1 and after upgrading to 10 I get regular freezes and the computer just stops sometimes. I think this is normally just after booting up. Do I need to wait five minutes for it to get going before I try and do anything?! This is not normal, my PC was fast and responsive before the upgrade.
View 4 RepliesIn Windows 10 regedit freezes when trying to export a registry key. To fix this, open the print dialog (ctrl+p) first, then close it and you can export registry keys.
Original post: Whenever I try to export a registry key from regedit, when I click file->export it freezes. This only occurs in Windows 10, did Microsoft accidentally break regedit or something?
I am experiencing a consistent issue with Windows 10 where the computer runs okay, but then it suddenly freezes where I cannot do a thing. So I am not able to save my work or project I am working and lose all my data that I was working on. I then have to reboot the system to get Windows operational once again.

Computer worked last night. It accepted audio files that I recorded on EasyVoice recorder and dragged into computer from my LG Android. I was able to edit those files in my Adobe Audition, save as mp3s and upload to my employer software and website just as I always do. I was able to surf pages already open in my Google Chrome but unable to logon to my eBay account. I finished my work and went to bed.
This afternoon I was able to open some new Chrome Internet windows and answer emails on gmail and Zimbra web mail. I closed the laptop and left it there for a few hours.
Upon returning, I could not open any new Internet windows. Not even Facebook. I tried restarting but could not access the Start menu. So I hard booted. No effect.
Then hard booted and removed battery. Turned on and generally had same problem but I was able to search for malware bytes and clicked download. Computer froze in the "save to" step.
Turned off Internet modem power, restarted Internet wireless and tried turning on computer. Even worse. Now It acts like it is opening an Internet page but little circle just keeps spinning as though looking for something it cannot find.
I am using an iPad to send this post. Computer is a brick at this point.
When I turn on my PC, it starts up but I just get a black screen with the circular arrow. It adds one dot about every 15 minutes. I select start>power>re-start and everything comes up fine. It is slower than Windows 7, which is annoying, but not nearly as much as having to reboot every time.
View 2 RepliesThis Dell OptiPlex has be upgraded from Win7Pro since the first week it was available with no problems. It had been running overnight and when I went to login I typed in my password and hit enter the balls started to rotate (about a 1/4 turn) and stopped (froze). I was forced to hold the power switch till the system shutdown. Everything came back up normal but on every attempt to log in, I get a 1/4 turn of the balls and it freezes again. I can see shares from remote computers but can not log in. I cant figure out how to get it in to safe mode or do anything else.how to get back on my system?

So after the upgrade to win 10 I've been have an annoying problem, if my pc goes idle for a few hours the screen will go black and I can't do anything but a hard reset. I looked in my event viewer and saw lots of errors so I just wiped the event log to start over and maybe find out whats going on.
I also ran a system scan in the command prompt to see if there were any errors but it found 0.
Installing windows 10 as an upgrade from windows 7. Everything was looking good leading up to the install, genuine windows, no compatibility issues. The update downloads no problem, I select install now, it shuts down the computer and I get that glowing ring/progress bar that slowly moves up to 29% as it "copies files". Once the file copying is complete it reboots and I see the windows logo and the circle of moving dots. The dots do one rotation, then freeze. Nothing else happens.
Waited four hours, no change, no progress bar, no indication that anything is happening. I do a manual reboot, it resumes installation and hangs immediately. Reboot again and it restores windows 7.
I have a Lenovo Yoga 500 i5. When I login to it the screen goes blank, then goes to desktop, and then the mouse freezes. I can not do anything. I can't even access my documents to backup my school things.
My computer specs:
Lenovo Yoga 500 - 14ISK
Windows 10
When I start up Minecraft, it freezes in the Mojang screen every time and the top bar says Not responding. It never did this in Windows 7 and it is getting annoying. I have the latest Java and graphics drivers installed. What is going on? I'm not using the Minecraft Windows 10 edition but the regular PC version.
View 4 RepliesToday out of the blue my computer started to lag and so I restarted. After logging in, anything I do will freeze my computer and I would have to force shutdown and this would repeat. Even if I can click on stuff, it's unresponsive. I tried to get into safe mode but either I dont know how to do it properly or I can't. this is for a friend who's a little computer illiterate so I'm not sure about the specs but it's a 560ti presumably.
