Mouse Freezing For 1 Second When Opening Or Closing Programs
Sep 1, 2015
I have this weird issue that started when I upgraded to Windows 10. Whenever I open a program or in some cases an explorer window my mouse will freeze up for about half a second, as if the hard drive is bottle necked very briefly. I have two drives in my laptop, an SSD and a regular 750 GB hard drive. My mouse will freeze regardless of the drive that the program that is being opened is located on. This also occurs with a few specific explorer and Windows related tasks.
For example, when closing the task manager or emptying the recycling bin, the mouse does this freezing action, and while this is not a super serious issue it is rather irritating and sometimes the mouse will freeze even if there is no warrant for it. I could be simply browsing the web and it will lock up for a second. Looking at the task manager, there the HDD activity only goes up to 40-50% in some cases, so it is very annoying since there seems to be no apparent cause for this behaviour.
I have no reason to believe my drives are failing since they both check out just fine in benchmark and diagnostic programs such as AS SSD, CrystalDiskInfo and HDTune, I'm just really eager to know what could cause these mini mouse freezes. I don't believe it's a total system lock up since I could be playing music in the background and the music won't stop playing.
Dell XPS 9100 intel i7 3.47 x990 12 gig ram 2 Tb hard drive 1.4Tb free space Radeon R380 /4gb ram. RST not working, but it is running in services. The whole system has gotten very slow. I am talking about just Windows 10. My programs work fine, if I can get one to start before it freezes. Mouse sometime it will work, but not other times. I have to just pull the plug to get unfrozen.
I used to have a gadget on my desktop that would open and close my dvd drive which was very convenient for me as I can't easily reach the button while sitting in my chair (and if I stretch, I CAN take out or put in a disc),Is there an app in Windows 10 will do that?
All my apps open momentarily and then close. The only exception seems to be the browsers. I can go through file explorer and open the files that way, but not by clicking on the desktop app boxes.
When ever I walk away from the computer for a little while, when I return all more programs have closed. I'm not sure what minimum amount of time passes before this happens but after an hour it's always displays this behavior.
I just downloaded Windows 10 yesterday night and after using it for the first time this morning, I decided to try out Microsoft Edge. Whenever I open it from the app section or the bottom tab section, it shuts down automatically after two seconds. I don't so much as get an error message, it just closes as if I pressed the close button. However, when I ask Cortana to open up some sort of search, then the window works and stays open.
I have opened the builtin admn by changing the cmd to sethc so whenever i press shift 5 times at login it opens the cmd for me to type the net user admin /active:yes command but my question is i open taskmgr with the cmd I mentioned before I run programs from "run new task" command the programs opens but close automatically after a few minutes. How to make it not closing itself?
So, for the past 2 days my pc is displaying an unusual behaviour. Every installer that I download does not work.
Some programs like uTorrent or Dolphin or Hijackthis don't work. I have tried compatibility, I have tried running them as admin. And nothing worked.
Funny thing is, they run normally when I boot my pc in safemode. I have researched throughout the internet and I haven't found a similar problem nor solution.
If I access them through the cmd console, they run normally. Go figure.
My main problem is programs suddenly close. When using a browser (Firefox or Chrome) the program will close. Approx every 3-5 minutes. However, there are times it will stay open for significantly longer. I've tried using Firefox with Addons disabled and still forced closing.
I have experienced this as well with another program I use for my ip cameras, Blue Iris. However, it only happens during playback, never when the program is open and either recording or ready to record.
Don't know if this relates, but I'm having a problem with my video card having an error every few minutes. "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered". I've updated the driver from AMD's website, but still erroring. Then went to AMD and ran their program for completely removing the driver and reinstalled the driver. Fyi, after this driver, they aren't going to support this gpu any longer. AMD HD Radeon 6670
A bit of background, in approx late July, I received the invite to update to W10, ran the test to verify everything was okay. Upgraded. Ran W10 for a few days without errors, then did a fresh install. I shutdown every morning.
Dell XPS 8300 from 2011. PS, I had to type this question in Notepad because the browser kept closing.
I've tried googling this so much but cant seem to find any useful fixes. Basically most programs are freezing when I click on Save as or Open. This isn't affecting chrome, and MS office, but paint, rufus, snipping tool are not working at all. Freezes every time. Restarted my computer multiple times. Is there a working fix for this? I had this problem on Windows 8 about a year ago but then I reinstalled when I got a SSD so naturally the problem was solved.
I have a problem with my mouse. For some reason, my razer mouse keeps freezing when I'm using it. I can use it for maybe 30 seconds, and it will cut out in 10 seconds, and then come back. I have used this mouse in about 2 years without a problem, but it started occurring about 10 days ago. I don't know if the mouse is broken, or if it's installed incorrectly.
I've recently had an issue where sometimes on waking my computer the mouse is barely responsive and is super laggy. The cursor will move but really slowly and I am not allowed to click on anything. The keyboard is able to get me through the password screen and navigate responsively. When I go to restart the computer using keyboard commands, the restart logo will spin and spin and spin and I ultimately have to hard shut down. When the computer starts up, everything is fine. I've tried unplugging and re-plugging in the mouse and the mouse completely shuts off and no lights are on.

My only suspect is it's an issue with the Logitech software, but I've never had this happen before and googling hasn't turned up anything similar to what is happening.
I have just upgraded to windows 10 the other day. I am running an Acer Aspire Notebook R3-471T, Intel HD 4400 Series, i5-4210U @ 1.7GHz 2.40GHz, 6GB Ram. So after i upgraded to win 10, i downloaded auto detect driver update from acer and intel. I updated all my drivers and then i downloaded some games. Apparently every 4-5 secs mouse freezes for a fraction then goes back to normal. I can't play anything because every 5 seconds my mouse (therefore the gameplay) freezes. I didn't have this problem on win 8.1.
I have recently upgraded from 8.1 to windows 10 after it finish installing I reset my computer(Via the recovery tab). I then started installing my programs and everything was going well, but when I logged in the next day I couldn't open Task Manager or the admin command prompt(the normal one works fine), my windows update also takes forever to search for an update and nothing ever happens. It seems to be something wrong with the programs that require admin(I am the only user on the computer so I have administrator functions). I have some error messages but there are a few more. Here are a few: 'This program did not respond in a timely fashion', 'The service cannot accept control messages at this time' and I will attach a screenshot of the longest one.
my computer will always randomly freeze for 1-3 seconds when I do normal tasks (like using chrome and skype). The freezes cause audio and mouse to also freeze during that time.
I tried to swap CPUs, get a new mobo, use different RAM and nothing works. I've got this problem since Windows 8. But its been progressively worse. Now I also sometimes have problems POSTing and the display will turn black when I boot up to the login screen.
I used latencymon to check which drivers are causing the problem and when I disable my GPU drivers the stuttering is gone. I don't have any of these problems when using DirectX apps. My GTX 660 has the latest drivers installed.
One night I go on my pc to find out that it doesn't work properly anymore. I boot up normally but when I try to open any program, the loading icon appears on my cursor and after about 10 seconds my desktop crashes. My wallpapers turn from their normal wallpaper element to white plain background (the same way when a program is not responding it turns white).
Even if I am able to open a program, it will take 1 plus minute to open it, and then take another minute to close it. I tried to download drivers but it wouldn't let me because it just crashes.

I can't reinstall windows 10 as I don't have the disc since I got it for free from the windows 7 upgrade, and my windows 7 reinstallation disc is broken, so that's a no go.
One thing that drives me bonkers is having a mouse pointer open any file whose name I might inadvertently hover over for a few seconds. I want files to open ONLY when I double click them. In earlier versions of Windows it was easy to turn the open on hover feature off, which I always did. However there is no option to turn it off in Windows 10 that I can find anywhere in Settings.
I use AutoHotKeys to remap my windows key, and use Logitech Setpoint to map the middle mouse button to close the currently focused program. This worked fine in Windows 7.
Now with Windows 10, it works "most" of the time. For all program like Firefox and File Explorer and whatnot its fine - when I click the middle mouse button the window closes, and when I click the windows key it does the remap I want. But for other focused programs, like notepad.exe, regedit and compmgmt.msc snapin these events don't work now. The middle mouse click won't close the window and the windows key just acts normal with the AutoHotKey mapping ignored.
Its like all Windows 10 program have been recompiled for the Windows 10 release obviously, but specifically these Win10 programs seem to be one step above the internal windows message queue maybe any ignoring these message or not seeing them?
Is there a way to stop the middle mouse button (i.e. click of the scroll wheel) from opening Cortana/search?
Things I've tried:
1. Searched Google. No useful results. The closest I found was that Windows 10 may be confusing the click of the middle mouse button as the 3-finger tap on the touchpad - which opens Cortana/search by the default. But I don't have a touch pad. I have the Toshiba PX30T (Toshiba Qosmio PX30t 23 inch Touchscreen All-in-One PC - Black/Silver (Intel Core i3 3120M 2.5GHz Processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, DVDSM DL, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows 8 64-Bit): Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories).
2. Tried re-configuring the middle mouse button in (a) Windows 10 Settings > Devices > Mouse & touchpad, (b) Control Panel > Mouse, and (c) my desktop's manufacturer's System Settings utility application (upgraded just now from their website). Interestingly, none of those three configuration tools had any control setting for the middle mouse button.
It is obvious that Windows 10 doesn't "fully" support the wireless mouse that comes with my PC.
Is there a way to "unbind" the middle mouse button from opening Cortana/search? For example, via the Registry Editor - maybe?
My email on Windows 10 keeps closing when I'm using it and returning to my desktop - it's very annoying. I am using a brand new laptop and downloaded Windows 10 about a week ago.
I have noticed this problem come up on my Dell 7537 (Check out my profile for details) when I close the lid to put the computer to sleep, the HDD light turns off, but the fan continues to run, even after several hours. When I open the lid back up, it is just a black screen where I have to hold the power button to do a hard reset. The same thing happens with initiating a shutdown sequence, although that one only does it some of the time.
I installed Windows 10, but now when I try to open Settings, it appears then disappears instantly. I tried rebooting but it changed nothing. Also... when I right click and choose Personalize... it won't come up
