View 3 RepliesI updated to Windows 10 this morning, and after doing so realized that my side scrolling on my mouse pad (I'm on a laptop) doesn't work anymore. Googled, found out it was a driver issue, and went to download the correct driver.
However, acer aspire drivers don't have the touchpad driver updated for Windows 10 yet. Do I have to wait until the driver comes out to fix this issue? If so, how long that could take? (They have the important drivers updated already, those for bluetooth and wifi)
I've just updated windows 10 and it uninstalled the latest version of the NVidia driver that I had installed two days ago. Is it supposed to be like that?

View 2 RepliesSince installing Windows 10, I am having a lot of trouble clicking on areas and loading menu options using my mousepad. For example;
- When I go into the start menu, if I go to click on the Power option, it will not load the menu where I can choose to restart, shut down, etc. The menu will flash up for not even half a second and disappear.
- Another example: when signing up for an account on this website, I was prompted to select a photo from a group of photos for validity but when I clicked on a photo it would not acknowledge this. I was also unable to use the mousepad to click on the tick option to confirm I agree to the terms and conditions etc.The mousepad worked fine before I updated to Windows 10.
i can't use my mousepad on my asus laptop after upgrade win8 to win10.
Eventhough i can use the touchscreen but i also need the mousepad to work.

My previous laptop running windows 10 finally gave up the ghost and died on me. Not a hard drive issue but power problems (in trying to fix it I broke some of the solder joints), any way it was 5 years old and was due to be replaced, however the hard drive was absolutely fine. So I bought a new laptop with a shiny new 1tb hard drive with windows 10 pre-installed.
So having used Macrium before (when I installed a 256gb SSD) I decided to leave the new laptop as a clean install and reinstall any programs that I still needed. Guess what, it seems that there was an awful lot of stuff that I had accumulated that I just didn't need any more. After copying some documents over for work and installing a couple of essentials total space used including OS is less than 75gb.
I uninstalled avast after i installed Windows 10. Now everytime I boot up I get an avast popup wanting me to update avast. How can I get rid of this popup. I scanned my computer and got one Trojan and deleted it. Popup continues.

I uninstalled the "Standard ps/2 keyboard" driver via the device manager because im stupid. After the restart, my keyboard doesn't work. I tried installing it again via the device manager, after showing hidden devices and disconnected devices, it is still not there. I searched for a keyboard driver by clevo or sager and there isn't any. There is an utility for the backlit keyboard called "Hotkey", but after installing that,
I built a brand new msi system krait mobo sli edition/wind 10/i5 4690k and i seen allot of stuff in my event viewer and then i went to uninstalling stuff.. So before i would click my start up menu then power and then sleep.. The comp would goto sleep then id press my POWER button on my comp and it would wake up.. For some reason moving my mouse or pressing keyboard didn't wake it id just press power and itd start up NO prob.. Now after uninstalling stuff i hit the power to wake it and it shuts down..
View 1 RepliesI have a Windows 10 Pro 64 workstation that is fully up-to-date with all the latest security patches. It has Malwarebytes Home Premium installed and a full scan indicates that I have NO vermin in residence. Similarly, a full scan using Windows Defender also indicates that I have no vermin in residence.
My problem is that regardless of what I use to UNinstall LibreOffice v4.4.6.3 (Control PanelPrograms & Features, CCleanerUninstaller, Revo Uninstaller, or IOBit Uninstaller), it manages to reinstall itself upon system restart.
I recently replaced my GTX 660 with a GTX 970, and after I had completed installing that, the PC started up perfectly. The only issue was the internet said it was not connected (with a red X on the connection icon). I used the troubleshooter to discover that I did not have a LAN driver installed and windows didn't couldn't detect what I needed. I check my files and the driver was still there, so I uninstalled it expecting the disk that had come with the box of the motherboard to reinstall the driver correctly. After I had uninstalled the driver and used the disk to try and reinstall, the driver did not reappear. I searched for a driver install separately on my laptop, but to no avail. Nothing seemed to be compatible with my motherboard. The driver which I had assumed matched state that it could not detect the family of driver on my PC. I tried to do a recovery but didn't have a backup file, and resorted to a factory reset. After trying the disk after the reset, and continuing to search for the right driver, I came up empty handed.
View 9 RepliesI was forced to uninstall the Lenovo power management driver from my laptop because it was giving me blue screens (I believe it used to happen when the display was meant to go to sleep). This means that I now have no power management and the fan goes full blast all the time. Therefore I want to reinstall the driver to see if I can find a workaround to the crashing while keeping the fan a bit quieter. How do I do this? Windows Update can't see that it is missing and Lenovo don't have a download for it, presumably because Windows is supposed to handle installing the driver automatically.
View 9 RepliesThe generic PnP monitor driver in the device manager keeps reenabling/reinstalling itself whenever I restart Windows 10 on my early 2011 MBP (Boot Camp). I want to leave it disabled so the brightness controls on the keyboard work, otherwise they don't.
I do not want to disable automatic driver update checking by Windows 10. I know that if I turn off automatic driver installation via device installation settings and enabling "Prevent installation of other devices not described by other policy settings" will keep the "Generic PnP Monitor" driver uninstalled, and this is certainly one solution that works, but disabling these features interferes with the installation of other devices (one example is the TAP driver for the Private Internet Access Windows client).
There is no available apple display driver I can install over the generic driver that I have found, but the brightness controls work perfectly when the Generic PnP driver is disabled/uninstalled. I just wish it'd stay that way after a restart.
Is anyway to edit "all Apps", especially to remove some icons from? I have uninstalled Edge, but the icon is still in Start menu of "all apps".
View 5 RepliesMaybe I have a misunderstanding of how System Restore works. Yesterday I uninstalled a program that I'd like to now get back. The company that made the program no longer offers archive downloads for that program in particular. Today it occurred to me that I could do a System Restore to when the program was still on this laptop & all would be returned as it was.
The first 2 times I tried was a total fail for returning the program but when I went back to a week ago it was there. Something is missing & it errors asking for the old install software that doesn't exist anymore (the program was purchased it 2008).
I am having trouble accessing MS app store and also updating office 2016 through any of the office applications.
My question is, will win 10 apps and office 2016 default update through windows update?
Bought a new PC that came with Win-8.1 and decided to jump direct to Win-10 with a clean install... no update from 8.1.
It worked fine for the first 3 weeks but within the last week when I do a Restart it goes into the "Don't turn your computer off while doing update" or something to that effect.
It restarts three times getting as far as 55% but the next time it restarts (the 4th time) message says "We couldn't complete the updates. Undoing changes". When it finishes it restarts again and finally boots correctly.
PS: If I do a Shutdown and power up again the it boots correctly... no restarts!
For the past few days I have been having the issue were an update keeps failing in windows 10 so every time it re downloads the update it tells me that my pc is going to restart in about 10 minutes regardless of what I am doing and this is about at least 3 times a dat and it is extremely annoying.
The update is a thing called "microsoft malicious software removal tool" and windows wont let me disable automatic restarts or automatic updates and i dont even need this "update" because its just a virus removal tool which I don't need but windows wont let me cancel the update.
Well only 'View installed updates' works. (the earliest shows only one of 21 November - I thought November had a big update. no?)Clicking these does nothing:-

As I updated via this on another computer yesterday with no problem (except updating 4 items took over 4 hours!!) what can be my present glitch be?
Just turned on my HTPC and it has updated to a more recent build, however, it will not accept my password. I have reset my password at account.live.com/password/reset but to no avail.
I had a similar problem with my laptop. A password reset online done the trick, but not this time...
I tried unplugging the internet so I could try and log in with the last password, but....no.
I had a friend who installed Windows 10 Pro 32-bit operative system on my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS, it wasnt until this day (2015/08/26) that I noticed it on my Laptop. How to upgrade or update it to 64-bit without erasing or formating everything??

All my programs are still here but every single setting that I have checked so far has been set back to "start". Its as if I finished the upgrade to Win 10 5 min. ago.
