I'm running home edition in both and trying to export contacts from old vista laptop to flash drive, then import to 'people' on win 10 laptop . Do I do it as csv -common separated values ...or vCards (folder of .vcf files)
View 9 RepliesThe old one is perfectly serviceable, but slow (i3-2365M, 1TB hdd, 8Gb mem, on-chip graphics ). The new one is a i7-6700HQ, 512Gb sdd, 1TBhdd, 16Gb mem, NVIDIAGeForce GTX 960M . Both laptops have Windows 10 OS. How can I transfer my files, data, settings and programs to the new laptop?

I have copied the " Backup Set" to my C drive, but I can not open any files. Vista was "Backup & Restore"..... Is Restore different from copying?
View 3 RepliesBoth the Windows 10 laptop and the Windows Vista laptop have discovery on and file and printer sharing on. The printer is connected to the Windows Vista laptop. The Windows Vista laptop can see the files within the Windows 10 laptop. The Windows 10 laptop can see the Windows Vista computer but as soon as it tries to see inside it gives an error about "spelling of the name, etc." If using the diagnosis tool it says "One or more network protocols are missing from this computer". "Resolving problems as administrator" does not solve anything.

Is there a software that you would recommend for this and what should be done? Clone or image? I am lost in terminology!
View 1 RepliesI have a laptop with about 68GB of OneDrive sync'd data. I now have a new laptop which I am setting up and it will replace my old laptop.
What is the best way to do migrate all my data to the new machine?
1) Let OneDrive automatically sync with my new PC and use 68GB of my 250GB monthly allotment?
2) I could manually move the data over - as we did in the old days - and then turn on OneDrive and "hopefully" let it sync and realize that same data is on the new laptop and not download or create other copies.
Moving the data over to a new machine? How does OneDrive react?
I tried with one folder and it seems to work where it did not download the folder again or create a second copy. I tried another folder and it started downloading (syncing).
Bottom line is I'd prefer to manually move all the folders and files (copy) from my old laptop to my new laptop's OneDrive but don't know how well this will play out. Nothing on Microsoft's OneDrive sit or elsewhere on this specifically that I've found.
I installed Windows 7 onto my laptop , I then did a free upgrade to Windows 10. I would now like to move this installation to a new PC that I am buying. Can I do this for free? I no longer want Windows installed on my laptop, so can I transfer the licence to the new PC?

View 2 RepliesI've just bought a new pc with Windows 10 installed on it -my last pc ran Vista with Windows Mail. I can't find a way to import all my email folders from Vista to 10. Everything was organised on my last pc - I had about 15 folders containing emails from Amazon/ebay/paypal/friends/car clubs/family/work etc. etc. etc. Now, after two weeks with Windows 10, not only can't I import my folders and emails, but the email interface itself looks a right shambles. It seems to be designed for 6 year olds. I want a more professional looking interface like my old Vista Mail (or like my Outlook I use in work.

I open iexplorer and open Hotmail and I went to create a new email to one of my contacts and noticed when I was typing in the email address that it didn't auto display from my contacts. I then clicked on the settings and selected 'People" and all I get is the beads just spinning for a while and then get "This page is temporarily unavailable.Funny thing when I open firefox and go into Hotmail I can see my contacts and when I select "People" it instantly displays all my contacts. What the heck changed in iexplorer for me yo lose all the contacts?

View 8 RepliesAs a longstanding WLM user recently switched to Thunderbird, I'm really trying to like the new Mail app as my permanent mail client. But I can't find contacts. Where are they?
Also, I want to export contacts to a database of some sort (CSV?) like I can do with Gmail so that I can organize and then import back to Mail App. If I can't find or export contacts then I'll need to stay with one of the vintage apps.
Since the windows 10 upgrade, I cannot access my contacts for email groups that I had created.
View 3 RepliesFinally managed to import my thousands of saved emails (had to buy a program to do it) but cannot get them to be sub-folders of the inbox, only down at the bottom as "Outlook data file". Cannot import contacts. I export to csv but they import blank, now I have about 100 blank contacts that this POS won't let me delete.I have 3 accounts, comcast, gmail, and outlook.com. All are IMAP accounts.
When I started this process hours ago, I was hoping the following could be done:
-Have one combined inbox
-Have all my saved local folders as a sub of that inbox
-Have a complete address book that I'm able to use and edit
I had saved my email address book off my W XP machine ( Outlook Express ) as a WAB file in my external hard drive. I imported it & now I can't find it anywhere! It was supposed to be in Windows Mail ( Hate it!). Where/how do I find it?
View 14 RepliesProblems syncing Contacts to one PC - how to fix!? I have the following setup:
- My contacts in the Microsoft Account on the web (People.Live.Com) with Outlook Contacts, Windows Messages, Skype and LinkedIn-integration, works perfectly
- A Lumia 925 with Windows Phone 8.1 and full sync to my account which works fine (including LinkedIn)
- A MS 950XL With Windows Phone 10 and full sync to my account which works fine (without the LinkedIn-integration)
- a PC with Win 10 Prof. which also works fine with all contacts showing up in the "Contact" app on my PC (except the LinkedIn integration)
But then also a laptop with Win 10 home, setup in exactly the same way with the Outlook account, Skype etc. but where the contact sync worked initially BUT HAS NOW STOPPED WORKING!
If I add a new Outlook contact on any of my other devices it syncs with all but the laptop and the same is true for changes of contact data. Somehow the sync function of contacts to the laptop has stopped working!!
I have forced sync but no new contacts show up. The settings in the Contact App on my laptop is the same as on my other PC (same server, same setting on what to collect and how to sync my outlook account, ticking the same boxes on how to filter the contacts etc). I have uninstalled and reinstalled Skype, Messages + Skype-app etc. but cannot make it work. I cannot detect any other differences between the devices and all other things work great.
I set up my Yahoo mail account in the new Windows 10 email but my contacts aren't listed. So, I see I need to add my contacts from Yahoo to the new People App but when I go into the People app, Yahoo isn't listed as an option to import from.
