View 3 RepliesHow to add groups to the Start Screen? I presently have 4 different groups and I can rename the groups, but I don't know how to add additional groups. I would like to add additional tiles to my start screen but want to keep them organized.
View 2 RepliesI know how to add and remove things from the Start menu but is it possible to add more Groups? I can only see 4, which can be renamed, but I'd like a few more in order to organise my icons.
View 1 RepliesAt the moment windows seems to allow only two groups of tiles to be next to each other horizontally. If a third fourth or fifth group is added they are dropped below the first two groups.
Is it possible to have three groups of tiles (Group size - 3 medium tiles next to each other) next to each other in the start menu?
I have already tried the full screen start menu which does not solve the issue either.
I currently use custom "wide" size live tiles as game shortcuts, and I would like to be able to make my "games" group wider or, ideally, turn off grouping altogether because I only have games pinned. Are either of these things possible?
View 6 RepliesIs there a way to make all apps list instead of groups (0-9, A, B, etc.)?
When wif win7 i created my own folders in all apps menu.
There is alot of empty space to the right of my start group and I can't seem to resize it or delete it, the only way I can interact with that area is if I drag something in it and only can I rename the group.
View 1 RepliesI like to reposition a few desktop app icons away from their default position on the left edge of the screen so I can find them easier. It seems that every few days, they all get re-positioned back to the left side like my desktop was reset. I'm not sure what's causing it.
View 3 RepliesI've searched but might have missed it !!.. I want to arrange my icons around on my windows 10 screen..
View 1 RepliesI have an install with a low end Celeron-based Acer laptop that serves mostly as a desktop, hooked to a big monitor via VGA cable. Unfortunately the laptop must be opened to get to the power button.
with auto-arrange etc UNCHECKED [so, supposedly icons do what you make them do], the icons will rearrange themselves in a random fashion, resize differently, "ghost-out", etc. it really is maddening because user-installed Apps and just simple file paths are impossibly difficult for non-tech users on windows 10 [and its immediate predecessor].
what is the PERMANENT cure for this? I see a good number of threads on MS boards re: this problem on 8.0 and 8.1, none of which are encouraging. seems microsoft is pretty clueless about it - This does not happen on all systems of course, but in my experience, connectiing Intel HD-family graphics to external monitors is a roll of the dice [pretty solid with AMD or Nvidia]. Sometimes no sync at all occurs, sometimes resolution is difficult to set [impossible for non-tech users], primary display designation is lost/reassigned, etc...
I have a problem with windows 10 desktop icons after installing some update. My desktop icons cannot be rearranged on my own and its pretty annoying. Auto arrange option is unchecked.
View 1 RepliesDesktop Icons move back to the left (default) side of the screen after customizing. this happens when the the computer is put into sleep mode and is woken up or when the monitor is turned off and turned back on. I upgraded to windows 10 Pro 64bit from windows 7 ultimate 64bit. This problem never happened with windows 7.
-Automatic Sleep mode is turned off - when I manually put computer to sleep mode and wake it up the icons are rearranged
-Automatic turn off monitor has been deactivated - when shut off my monitor but keep my computer on and then turn back on the monitor the icons have rearranged
-I have small icons setting
-Auto align icons has been deactivated
-allow themes to change icons has also been deactivated
My Computer:

WD HDD
Samsung 850Pro - Windows 10 is installed on the SSD
My Drivers are all up to date. and Motherboard Bios has just been updated to 2201
Is it possible to move a tile to the taskbar or the start menu.
View 1 RepliesSince the windows 10 upgrade, I cannot access my contacts for email groups that I had created.
View 3 RepliesI understand that my "contacts" are now in an app called "People". I am using Google/Gmail to transfer all of my contacts to People, I also have several groups that I need to transfer or create to enable one email to go to several people in a group.
How do I create groups in Mail or People?
I want to get a list of Local Users and Groups as shown in the first screen shot (taken from the Web).
When I run Computer Management as administrator that information is not available under
Computer Management > System Tools (second screen shot - my computer)
I just installed Windows 10 and its nice and all, just that the icons in the start menu and the system settings for programs are broken.
What I mean? This is a screenshot: [URL] ...
All of a sudden the battle.net, chrome and evernote lost it's icons but they still work.
View 1 RepliesJust got Windows 10 a few hours ago. I don't see how you pin icons for programs to the LEFT side of the start menu. I can pin things to the right side, but I don't want those tiles.
View 9 RepliesIs it possible to ad a web site icon/tile to the start window.
For some reason the google web site icon is there, but I would like to add a few more of web sites I frequently visit.
The right click on a web site URL does not give the option of creating a tile/icon on the start menu.
I can't open the start menu and I don't know why. The only thing I can do to it is right-click, nothing else. I cannot left-click it or even use the windows button. Also, there are two of my apps - Store and Microsoft Edge - have a blank icon. I can't open them nor unpin them to the taskbar.
If you look at the taskbar the blank icons are between media player and google chrome.
I want to start using my start menu, but I don't remember how to add icons back. I tried to just drag them but that doesn't work. Also, they just all disappeared randomly. Not sure why. [URL] ...
View 1 RepliesSince my upgrade from windows 7, all my start menu icons are blank. I've tried deleting the icon cache.db file,
View 9 RepliesI click 'Pin to Start' and nothing happens and some of the app icons are missing
View 6 RepliesIs it possible to change the edge icon on the tile to one from a web site such as Google or Ccleaner etc. on a small tile. Some come that way automatically, but for others one has to hover the mouse over to see the text.
View 1 RepliesI downloaded Windows 10 several hours ago. Nothing in the lower task bar will open. When I left click on the start button, nothing happen. When I right click, I get a menu but nothing will open. When I click in the "Search" area, no cursor appears. I don't know how to get to my pictures or documents.
Why is my start button (or anything else in lower task bar) not working?
Also - I use Avast security protection. Since I downloaded Windows 10, my firewall is turned off with Avast. I clicked a button to turn it on, but I am not being allowed to do so. Do I need to change something in the Windows 10 settings. First I need to learn how to pull up the settings since the start button is not working.
